Hoping to have a Haunted House in 2020 some time. The theme just fits in with my game room and I love the sounds and music and everything about it. Can someone give me a price range what these beautiful beasts go for?

Look at the recent archived sales on the market place.

Depends on the condition and upgrades. Anywhere from $800 to $1000 for a project game (that most likely needs a ton of work), up to $2500 to $2800 for one that’s in very good to excellent shape.

What do you want? Restored or players or some where in between? I would say the RANGE is roughly $4000 to $1500.

Not looking at the moment, just trying to see what they go for. I would take either a project or a fully restored game depending on the price at the time. I prefer to have playfields in good condition with little to minimal wear.

This was my fourth one, and was glad to get it back after two years. Swemmer MPU and driver boards. Love all the LED indicators, even on the chips. And with the ribbon cable, much more reliable than the crappy interconnect harness usually there.

In the process of testing that coil with the proper voltage, my hand slipped and a probe connected two points that shouldn't have connected. Quick firing of some coils and then the game stopped in its tracks. When I start the machine, the shoot again lights are lit, the right kicker kicks, 5 seconds of silence, then I get all displays pointing 0 and two kicks from the upper graveyard kicker every 30 seconds or so. Any tips on where to start poking around?
I've been watching Clay's TOP videos to try to better understand these games but some of this stuff just goes right over my head I'm afraid when it comes to chip logic and logic probes and reading chip schems.

Hum... I suppose you have shock-circuited the coil bus with a switch... And you know what haapens when you apply 24 volts to the MPU? It fries... First hint is Z13 and Z14 on the MPU... If not already socketed, testing and desoldering may what you will have to do...

Now for pops not working... Clay's docs on how to test the pop card give you what to check... Often the transistor (TO3) is the root cause but not every time... Anyway, you have the possibility to swap pop cards, one with another to make sure..

Im going to try and stream my newely uber-cleaned up HH on halloween night. We will see how that goes...stay tuned.

Quoted from Colsond3:

Cab is pretty damn good...bright colors. A couple dings but nothing major. PF and plastics are actually cleaning up nice.

Hey everyone! I am a member of the club now as well having picked up this particular ball from Colson when he got his old Haunted House back. The MPU had battery damage which I neutralized and replaced a bunch of components and the machine is up and running again. Right now going through a variety of electrical and mechanical problems but the list is getting smaller by the day.

So far the major issue left is the credit display and lower playfield display the upper segments are locked on. The problem appears to be on the MPU board as I can swap the lower display for one of the score displays and the problem stays with location. I'm hoping to narrow it down further this weekend by comparing the IC's on this board related to display control with another System 80 board Colson is bring up this weekend.

The segments from the playfield display and credit display are controlled bij Z23 (7448) on the MPU board (Group C segments). That one can be defective. Also take a look for a loose wire or a bad contact at the J2 connector on the MPU board.

Thank you, I'll focus on that particular location.

Confirmed- Just looked at one at a show and they had a vendor who had the trim which I purchased new for $15

Look a few posts up you can see the new trim on mine.

#766 4 years ago

I’m guessing the trim goes on the two sides and top?

No chip yet, seller just shipped yesterday!

I was able to change out a bad lamp transistor, flipper coil, rebuilt another flipper, new popper coil and its control board. It is really coming along! I may socket the Z23 location this weekend when I change out the four bridge rectifiers. I still need to source out the large caps for the power supply.

My buddy Colson showed up with a Spiderman Sys80 board that doesn't look fixable so I desoldered the Z23 chip and moved it to HH.

Displays work perfect now

Would it be possible to put the plastic OVER this? have this on the bottom and then have the plastic on top of it? Not a fan of the metal aesthetically, but does seem practical.

By the way everybody: still haven't gotten around to starting a the resto. I'll be posting pictures when I get started on it. The game is sitting disassembled right now. Not sure what to do with it. Not sure I actually have the time to do a full resto myself

Actually that was my plan, to print out a scan and put mylar over it. Since it isn't backlit it would look fine.

After I polished it, I'm inclined to leave it as is though. Just a personal preference.

The rest of the trim was polished too and I drilled a hole on the far right location and installed a spacer and longer machine screw. Didn't like the end of the piece just hanging over the post near target #5 when it could be secure.

Looks good. I am a bad influence apparently. I was motivated to make that mostly by simply not having a plastic for that spot between 2 machines. That and I run a laser at work every day so the light bulb went on one day...

Here is the scanned images I was playing with.. The upper one has had some corrections done in Photoshop. I was going to print it out and glue to the steel piece and seal.

I honestly hadn't noticed the organist on this plastic until I visited this thread. I feel like there's more stuff to see every time I look at this machine. This is absolutely the coolest machine ever made.

Ya, its a piece of art for sure. Love to have it on and just stare at it some times.

I have a question for everyone: Attract lights/mode on or off? When I got it he had them off. I have had them on ever since. The clicking and flashing is fun, but some times I wonder if Id like it to stay static. Thoughts?

Thanks for sharing. Looks like you even cleared the cabinet. Wow. If you were nearby I'd want to buy it. I love this pin.

Yes , clear coated cabinet and lot of polished / chromed parts .
I hope to finish this restoration soon so I can put it for sale together with a gorgeous Flash Gordon and Centaur ...

Anyone have any idea where to get the relays in this beast? My Q relay keeps 'sticking' after time. Getting tired taking it apart to pull it out and demagnetize it.

I decided to put my Haunted House back together and have come to the conclusion that I'm just going to play the hell out of it and just put the restoration on hold. I found that I had an extra Rottendog Board just lying around for some reason so I popped it in HH to set it up. Right now it's playing properly but every sound only cycles through ONCE. The main tune will play ONCE and then end. The pop bumper noise will happen ONCE and then not again. Same for any of the sounds on the board. Any thoughts on this?

Trying to tune both HH and BH to a good playing condition to have some family and friends over this Friday, so any advice is helpful!

#798 4 years ago

I had never played HH before joining the club it is wayyyy better than I expected!!

Wow its been 3 months and just now looking to find a replacement switch. But i don’t know the part number for the switch and/or switch blade i need. Only the relay part number is listed in the manual. Is there is a gottlieb parts manual for this era of game? If so i know i don’t have it.

Anyone have a ref number for this part? The outermost make/break switch on the U relay.

Thx.

Looping back around to this. I still have yet to get the original MPU board of my Haunted House working. I checked and socketed and changed in new 7400 chips in Z13 and Z14 and got nothing. Just out of curiosity I put the MPU into my black hole and strangely enough it did the same thing. Turned the game on and it instantly kicks a ball out and lights the shoot again lamp. No 5 second waiting period. Curious if that should point me somewhere to a shorted chip or diode or something in the reset section of the board. I'm going to start digging around when I get home tonight and do some schematic looking to try and figure this out, but if you're reading this and have any pointers from memory, let me know!

Additionally, how have those metal "secret passage protectors" been working out? I've got a new set of plastics from PBR that I'm hoping to install soon but figured I'd get some reviews from you all to see if you're happy with those protectors. I'd throw some cash at one of you to whip one up if you have the capacity.
