I see an ad at Mr. Pinball for $4200. I can remember when these were going for $14K!

$14K for Bally KISS is ridiculous. ~$5K seems to be the price of working shopped out examples. More for full restores, of course. Also, I hear Mr. Pinball is nothing but scams these days.

First of aall Mr. Pinball is a joke. Second, 14k for a Bally Kiss is also a joke. Maybe for the nicest one ever made and ripping off a clueless Kiss fan? I don't know. Kiss isn't and never has been anywhere in the realm of a 14k game, so I'm not sure where you came up with that.

He just invented something to get outraged by, and then went to a site where all ads are scams to prove the outrage is over.

Is this what it’s come to around here?

kiss pinballs were never going for 14k, ever. i sold one 4-5 yrs ago for $2300 and it sat for 2 months. nice ones bring 4-5k. the rest of these clowns that list them for 10k and up are just dreamers. btw, worst game ive ever owned.

Did you buy a 14k Bally KISS years ago?

#8 4 months ago

I'd like to own one of these for a short time, just for nostalgia's sake, as this and Bally Star Trek were in the Student Union at my college. Let me know when I can get one for $2000 or less as it is neither all that or a bag of chips. Happy memories all the same.

#9 4 months ago

Three years ago I sold one for 7k, very clean and nice, all new boards, displays and stencil painted sides. Had original playfield, and the backglass was almost perfect (along the bottom the paint had slightly bubbled away from the glass for a few inches, but no flaking.)

I suppose a HEP restoration might sell for 14k to a serious collector.

Who looks at Mr Pinball these days? I wouldnt feel comfortable having my wallet on me in the same room as someone who has that site open.

I just sold a decent one a couple months ago for 2k

Glad to hear it! I appreciate the fact that a 2K KISS exists. I was born in Illinois, but have since moved too far away to have swung by Rockford.

There is one for sale for $13,750 that is a ground up restoration with new CPR playfield and glass along with all new boards at a Arcade Resto company in the midwest.

And it will be for sale forever at that price.

You need to PM me when you come across another at $2k.

Kiss sucks! I mean the pinball game is alright but the band is horrible.

I remember when the internet got going, and folks were getting these ridiculous prices for Kiss.

No, but I was amazed that this title particularly was getting these prices.

Damn. I just missed a nice one for $2500 near me last month or so. I'll find one to go next to my Stern pro, one of these days.

Not a very good layout. It seems they designed the left side and just folded it over and did a mirror image on the other.

Word, I'll keep you in mind

I think they both kinda suck.

Yo isn't there like some prototype Bally Kiss games that have like a funky fiberglass cabinet and speech? I bet one of those could fetch 14k easily.

Turns out my memory isn't failing me too badly yet. This thing is awesome!

$25K plus easy. The only known survivor of the 3 made.

These are completely different than the 9 or 10 talking KISS prototypes with the blue Futaba displays

#26 4 months ago

Maybe time to sell mine.... Never saw them over $4K in the past.
For years they were stuck at $2.5K

#27 4 months ago

Damn, if they're going for 7k w original playfields I may be putting mine on the market too - CPR pf/backglass, restencilled cab -

... That's a symmetrical layout, very common for classic pinballs and can be quite fun.

Never knew that existed. Wild.

Sample of the speech anywhere?

Vdojaq is right, the fiberglass version didn't have speech. Here's what IPDB had to say about the speech prototype:

"A 'Kiss' prototype was built which used speech. It was an emergency response to Williams' 1979 'Gorgar', the first talking pinball machine, so Bally pulled a game off of the production line to experiment with, and Kiss happened to be the game in production. Allan Reizman, Engineering Lab Supervisor at Bally from 1977 to 1983, shares his remembrances of this:

The talking Kiss prototype did make it out of the lab at least once and was displayed at the 1979 AMOA show in Chicago where it was viewed by all. I believe it said things like, "Shoot the K" and "Kiss!" when you completed a Kiss row. Somebody recently reminded me it groaned, "Too much Rock and Roll!" when you tilted it.

The game was only done as a one-time concept."

I feel like somewhere I heard a recording somebody took of the speech, but I definitely could be remembering wrong. Not sure if a sound sample actually exists.

EDIT- but wait theres more. Maybe the talking one WAS in a fiberglass cabinet after all but it still may no longer exist

"The Trade show talking Kiss was a one-off marketing project and should not be considered part of the 11 or 12 Intel New Technology games. Talking Kiss used the standard production Motorola board set and displays installed into a one of a kind fiberglass cabinet with a custom sound board added. I doubt there is any surviving documentation for that. A photo or document of the talking Kiss would be an amazing find. Unfortunately, photography at Bally was strictly forbidden at the time. Anyone caught photographing at Bally without permission would have been fired on the spot."

more info. Great American Pinball claimed to have a Kiss talking porotype in this thread. Never followed through with the video from what I can find. Was only $5000 ten years ago. Still trying to figure out where the 14k OP was talking about came from

That fiberglass cabinet is so out, its in. The only way it could be better is if it had a metalflake paint job like a 1970s bass boat. And check out that lockdown bar, thats wild.
