I am not sure if this even would apply to the remake, but that shifted font letter reminded me of this WPC problem (poor contact at the ASIC chip):

In my case, most/all of my characters (on a NGG) were messed up and you knew for sure something was going wacky with the machine (firing random coils, acting possesed, etc). In your case, it doesn't seem to be fully possessed. (Yet 
)
