Yeah Scott. I think the goodie bag is supposed to have the cover up art. But I’ve heard not everyone had them in their goodie bag. Probably can get stern to mail you one.

Quoted from Lermods:

There is an Ethernet cable attached to it, lift the playfield on to its service rails and unplug it.
Close thread.

Sure that will turn off the light?

Quoted from pinmister:

Well until Stern allows for the QR reader to be disabled in the settings, I have considered this dramatic need for a fix and have taken upon myself to provide a fix for the low low cost of $49.99. You now can buy a kit that will allow you to cover this blinding light.

Use the art to block it that stern gave you. Or should’ve given you in the goodie bag.

#113 2 years ago
Quoted from Lermods:

Yes, I am sure. Only one cable running to the reader supplying power and data.

Wild. Didn’t know Ethernet can carry power too.

You built up that streaming rig and station and had never heard of PoE?

Chad Hobbs is pretty much the only reason I know how to stream pinball. I have no idea what any of it means. Haha

Quoted from skink91:

FWIW I didn’t receive anything in my goodie bag that would cover up the reader.

Contact stern for one.

Quoted from skink91:

I can honestly say I never expected so much ‘white butthole’ conversation.

It’s one person talking to themselves. Haha

Quoted from nocreditdot:

Can I save $200 and have a regular apron?

Yep. Just buy a game that doesn’t have this in it.

#150 2 years ago
Quoted from RazerX:

So why exactly is this even necessary? Who and why would anyone be scanning their QR code from something other than their phone?

People that don’t have smart phones. Very common amongst pinheads.

#155 2 years ago
Quoted from RazerX:

People who don't have smart phones want to do this? I'd like to see the venn diagram on that. I don't think you'd lose many by making this a barrier to entry.

Stern clearly disagrees with you. It’s also an easy way to print QR codes for prizes at your location.

Quoted from Zitt:

Pretty damn sure having any laser light source shining in a players eyes is illegal.
Is it a laser or and LED? I bet there is an OSHA regulation they are violating

It’s 100% a laser. Let’s run with that for the next ten pages.

#162 2 years ago
Quoted from RazerX:

So someone outside of stern is going to print QR codes for promotions...right.

If they want. Or generate them and post a picture for people to screen shot. Either one. Options.

#170 2 years ago
Quoted from mahony:

Why isn't someone making a little translite to cover the qr reader?

Stern already makes this.

#201 2 years ago

And why do people want them unopened? So they can never use the spare parts that are in there? Makes no sense.

#216 2 years ago
Quoted from mahony:

So Stern has a product they sell to cover up the QR reader with a translite?

It’s free. It’s made to cover up the QR reader. It should be in the goodie bag. If not, ask stern for it.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Ok this may get a little too real here…but you are leaving me no choice.
Have you ever SEEN a butthole? Either in person, in the mirror, in school, in porn?
Is that really what it looks like to you? Basically a large, convex, symmetrical, pyramid shaped pit, with a TINY little, pin sized anus with no starfish?
I mean… since you are ceaselessly pushing the issue, I think it’s fair to ask.
What kind of buttholes have you been looking at?! Cause it’s not like any I’ve ever seen.
Maybe that’s why it’s not really catching on despite your endless white butthole evangelicalism?
Like, you need an actual butt to have a butthole. Where’s the butt? Or anything else that actually resembles an ass, or anus, human or otherwise?
Does this represent the complete failure and decay of the American education system? What are they teaching these people in science class? Is this why so many people are angry at our schools right now, and it’s become such a politicized issue?

I wonder if the demo in STH looks like a vagina to them too?

#229 2 years ago

Does anyone know if there’s a way to cover the blackhead on the QR reader? It’s really distracting.

#235 2 years ago
Quoted from Nevus:

Opinions vary.
The Houston show has about a dozen Godzilla Pros and Premiums (thank you Marco). The room is dark.
These readers are not bright or bothersome. They are just bright enough to get your attention.
No big deal to me. I can take it or leave it.
Conversely, one of my pals is bummed that he can’t retrofit his home games to add it for all of them. He loves the achievement model.

They should look into scorebit. That works on all SS games and they will have achievements too.

I have yet to notice the light while playing. It’s dimmer than a night light and is completely diffused.

#306 2 years ago
Quoted from davegauth:

The light can be annoying in home settings. I like to play in the dark, and the light is pretty bright in that scenario. I place my phone over it to block the light. The GZ did not come with a cover for the reader.

Why don’t the lights in the game bother you? The light shows in GZ are seizure inducing.

#309 2 years ago
Quoted from Hayfarmer:

When you play tonight, put something over the light for a few games. Then play with it exposed. It's not a deal breaker, but to me it's like a scratch on my car. Doesn't hurt anything but it's all I see. Just by defusing it like I did helps a bunch, but all stern has to do in next code update is give us an option.

Fair enough. Just don’t see how it’s different than any previous LE or premium game with lit up apron inserts or feature lights on the apron.

#312 2 years ago
Quoted from Hayfarmer:

You're lucky then, no ocd!

I have more ocd than most. Just not bothered by mood lighting on an apron I guess.

Yeah when playing the GZs in the Pincinnati main hall, very hard to see the ball during lots of the lighting events. I sure as shit noticed those, never once did I notice the apron light.

#316 2 years ago
Quoted from Darth_Chris:

This is new to me, but just to get it straight : From now on if I buy a new stern I have to pay for that apron reader $300 more so I can log my score with a cell phone even if I don't own a cell phone and play alone in my basement ? Wow this is crazy for home owners. So I go on the net and follow my achievements just like at school ? Why would i be interested in that ? I really don't get it for home owners. I would understand to give that option for location where young people go to play but force it to home owners is just a dick move.
Just my opinion but stern clearly don't know their customers. I don't play fortnite but pinball machines while i'm drunk.

Every new game has it built in.
