Although, I'd gladly pay their prices and get some use out of this lousy time machine I've got rotting in the garage.
Quoted from dannunz:Add the LCD screen and jjp is already over $6500
What are you paying for LCD screens?
They wholesale for $45, that's less than a DMD display.
We put some giant 28" LCDs in kiosks in the mall, rated for 24 hr use and they were $200.
Quoted from RCA1:How would you calculate the cost of the playfield and cabinet?
The special custom pieces on the playfield?
Hard to know the wholesale price of any of that stuff.
Everyone should remember the the Bill Of Materials is not the total cost (programming, licensing, engineering, rent, electricity, insurance....).
You can buy, retail, a pinball cabinet for $250 (assembly required). If you are buying 1000, you could get a substantial discount.
You can get playfields made, in quantity, for $200.
Quoted from dannunz:If he is making plenty of money than what is sterns making?
Even more money, because Stern is more efficient.
Building more games per day & putting out more titles each year.
