I'm very interested in what it cost to make the game in comparison to other company's charging similar prices. Any thoughts. Jack can't be making much on yes at the $6500 per order price. Someone with a game must have added it up by now.

Jack is making plenty of money at $6500.

A complicated game like MM adjusted for inflation in 2013 dollars would be $3971 NIB today.

..well maybe not....in 1997 the wholesale cost was $2995. to distribs. So taking that in to account in 1997 dollars (by http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators) that gets us to $4335. (2.34% rate inflation.) So ops would buy a MM at $3495-$3795 (marked up) which gets us $5059-$5495 today for the ops price adjusted NIB. Jpop

Your OPs were paying too much!

Add the LCD screen and jjp is already over $6500

Although, I'd gladly pay their prices and get some use out of this lousy time machine I've got rotting in the garage.

What are you paying for LCD screens?

They wholesale for $45, that's less than a DMD display.

We put some giant 28" LCDs in kiosks in the mall, rated for 24 hr use and they were $200.

How would you calculate the cost of the playfield and cabinet?
The special custom pieces on the playfield?

Hard to know the wholesale price of any of that stuff.

Everyone should remember the the Bill Of Materials is not the total cost (programming, licensing, engineering, rent, electricity, insurance....).

You can buy, retail, a pinball cabinet for $250 (assembly required). If you are buying 1000, you could get a substantial discount.

You can get playfields made, in quantity, for $200.

Even more money, because Stern is more efficient.

Building more games per day & putting out more titles each year.

I think Vid's point (which I agree with) is that "price per game" is a moving target that's hard to pin down exactly. Unless you are the company accountant, and even then it's tough.
What are they paying in salary wages? Hourly wages? Benefits?
    Outside services (legal, consulting, etc.)?
    Local, State, Federal taxes?
    Debt repayment (if any)?
How much of those costs are assigned to each game? How does that vary with production volume?
What interest rate are you using for cost over time?
How much of those costs were one time startup costs for WOZ only?
How much will apply to every new game?

Jack likely can't give you an exact dollar cost per game. He probably has a good idea, but that stuff is very fluid.

    Thank you!
Don't forget the State & Govt. taxes(payroll taxes, unemployment tax, work mans comp, etc.)on top of that, which are waaaay more now!
