We all pray for all you folks caught in the Storm,"Harvey" Be safe, and good luck!
Major near-historic flooding showing on this map all around the Game Preserve in Houston. Anyone heard from those guys? I honestly don't use facebook all that much to stay in touch with people that aren't people I don't talk to almost every day, so I'm kinda in the dark...
I hope they were able to do something... it's right off I-45 north of the 99 tollway.. Flood stage for that interchange is 91.5 feet....as of an hour ago this shows it was at 110.39 feet.....

It really does look devastating to Houston. I wonder if all new construction will be required to be built on stilts like in many beach towns. Isn't this the third 100 plus year flood in the last five years for Houston?
Seems like they are really upset with the Mayer, who suggested to shelter in place! The Governer, suggested to go,if you had a place to go too! Rescue Teams from here are going tonite, with Oakland, and SanMateo units to lend a hand!Gas prices rising,Stocks failing! This is bad folks!
Quoted from spfxted:That's because last time over 100 people were killed in traffic accidents....
Unfortunately, there are just issues with moving millions of people, but I think this may end up being worse before it's done.
Realistically let's just accept that life is more important than money!
Evacuation plans have been improved but when moving such a massive amount of people, the mobs act like idiots and kill each other!
So far only 9 or so people are believed to have died. So far that's pretty low for the catastrophic flooding and damage done by the storm. It's expensive to rescue people but money can't bring back the dead. It's more feasible to rescue them since many people can just camp out in attics, second floors and other high ground. People are better at staying in place than moving in mass, panicked migrations...

This is not a 100 year flood, it is an 800 year flood. Stilts per de will never be required, but I do expect the flood zones to be redrawn, some of the more flood prone areas to be disallowed to rebuild and things of that nature. You have to understand, more than a few of the areas that the TV shows as being turned into rivers flood in light rain because they are simply low and very old. Norchester, by where I live, floods every few years. It has all my life. People rebuild or repair fully knowing it will flood again. Newer houses in the same area fared better due to subgrade being built up significantly.
