Got my Cpr gold playfield a month or so ago and finally going to take the leap on my first playfield swap. I'm going to add as much content as possible through this journey to help add value for the next guy as this is one game there is not much content on. so stay tuned friends i hope this helps you or interests you like it does me.

This history of this game is it started out being routed in the Roanoke Zoo (before it was called Mill Mountain Zoo) for about 5 years and then my father bought it at their auction in 1985.ever since it was in our home but it has never had anything done to it until now. So needless to say it's in dire need of a playfield. will post pictures as quickly as i can as i make ground going foward.Stay Tuned

Gotta change the title of your thread... looks like more than a playfield swap. I would have checked it sooner, had I known

#10 4 years ago

This is as good as any thread to ask this question. I am stripping some Bally SS playfields (Silverball Mania, Eight Ball) and wondering how to get the #44/47 light sockets off the underside.

Since they each have a blob of solder on them, the hex screw won't turn, so it's a @#$%^ to take them off.

Any hints short of putting a flame thrower on the field to melt the solder?

Thanks.

#11 4 years ago

Do the apron decals have red printed on the decals, or are they made so the red from the apron ‘shows through’?

Cut the wire so that the whole socket can turn if needed.

#13 4 years ago

Yep, trying to do that. It's tough clipping some of those wires with them stapled down close to the socket.

I guess I will just nut up and get 'er done...

#14 4 years ago

Interested in the decal source if you can share?

#15 4 years ago

Just finished my Harlem globetrotters Playfield swap with putting in cpr plastics.only have to put on outhole lane but will do it right before installing Playfield. It has all new light sockets, pop bumper mechanics, all new coils and ofcourse titan rubber kit.all in all I learned alot in my first Playfield swap and definitely feel i could do way better and quicker on the next one.

Looks great man, nice work!

Did you really change out all the coils? If so, i wouldn't throw the old ones out. Chances are they're still ok, maybe not hurt to have some spares or sell them to recoup a little of your investment.

Either way, it looks fantastic! Have you installed it in the cab yet?

#17 4 years ago

Yes I Changed every one and i dont throw any pinball parts away that are salvageable except maybe flipper parts but I always keep the springs bc you can always make them tight again by shortening them.

Reglued the entire cabinet with gorilla wood glue and it is super strong now.i sister pieced all the bottom in too so the bottom will never sag.

#20 4 years ago

Took me about 3 days of filling in with bondo and sanding starting with 200 then 500 all the way too 1200 grit.

#21 4 years ago

Yesterday I finally got the cabinet covered in primer and ready for my base coat this week when it warms up.I used Kilz original puts 2 coats on everything. It isnt perfect but man it looks light years ahead of what it looked just a couple days ago. My pinball pimp stencils are flattening out now as I write this and will be building me a paint room to paint this.

Tore my 1st coin door apart.not too bad after I did my research.even found a 1976 2 dollar bill and a 1972 Susan b Anthony.even found my coin flap inside the skin.overall I feel this wont be hard to clean as this game only saw 1 year or routing as my father bought it in 1980 and it has been in our home ever since.i will post pictures as I clean and paint all parts.

Really like the basketball targets. Where did you find those?
And the install 3 ball Sticker?
Looks really nice, you should be proud.

The lockdown bar receiver cover came from titan pinball and the basketball custom drop targets and stand ups came from Ebay.

Ha, just read through this thread... Fantastic! A video of game play would be awesome! I'm trying to decide between a hard top and complete playfield swap. My game doesn't absolutely need it but I'm starting to think I'm going to keep this game forever.
