#53 2 years ago

No this is a production unit

#54 2 years ago

Well done!
Nice to see a really nice artwork fix for trashed or not so new looking playfields.
It will bring back many games from the dead...

Hmmm, seems like scotch may have been involved here....

I'm thinking some of the inserts are "cloudy" from getting sanded down. Putting a thin layer of clear on after sanding and before applying the overlay should take care of it.

Can the hard top be buffed out when scratches show up?

I'm sure old school will give it a good workout ?????

Ya. I agree it's strange that neither of Keith's copies have jeweled inserts.

I believe Outsidedge said to clean it with a car wax. I'm sure they will chime in on proper care.

One game was a proto. The other a production game.

I just watch the videos. Cool stuff!

I had one question. In the third video (5:20 mark) you mentioned sanding if you can see wood. Can you elaborate on that? Are you talking about sanding the wood with a really fine grit so that it looks nice or sanding the overlay in some fashion? I'm just not following what needs to be done.

Cheers!

As far as I know its just polycarbonate, similar to existing playfield protectors. So, you should be able to buff it with your favorite polish (novus is popular) and wax as normal.

The Hardtop Pharaoh is already on its way to Stonehenge in Akron so I took pictures of the other game to illustrate.

In these two pictures you can see that part of the playfield has no artwork. In those areas the hardtop sits over and is clear. If the original area is dirty/ball tracked, the will show through when the Hardtop is applied.

I remember Bruce saying Carnuba Wax. I also believe he said no to Novus.

Ahh, I see what you mean now. Thanks for the clarification!

Marvin called me earlier today. Apparently it lost a spring on one of the target banks. He told me he was fixing it today.

I am in possession of two games. As I said in the first post, changes are made mid stream. notice the colors and artwork.

Nice catch, skypilot. I have taken the liberty of adding these stencil differences as a trait on the Internet Pinball Serial Number Database. I have used a scaled down version of your above photos as a reference--hopefully that's ok. If any future users submit a Pharaoh serial number to IPSND, they will have the option of adding which design is on their game. Perhaps a trend can be identified.
