What are the odds Tri-Zone would be done?

Quoted from darcangeloel:I'm confused by the picture above... with hard tops do you have to sand the entire playfield? Also to remove the paint on the inserts is there a chemical that can be used instead of sanding?
Sanding the playfield will take care of any paint on the inserts.
Quoted from darcangeloel:That is true but wouldn't that make the inserts appear all scratched up and cloudy? I think it would be easier just to remove the paint on the inserts with some chemical and then just make sure to remove that chemical before putting the hard top down. Just curious if anyone has gone about it this way.
Final sanding won't leave heavy scratches, especially when using an orbital. After that, the clear coat fills them in and leaves it nice and smooth/clear.
Quoted from 64bsstp:Two points:
1) Just to be clear I am not part of the Outeredge/Pinballgifts organization. I do not know what titles they are preparing or want to do unless it's been announced in this thread somewhere. I'm just a pinball enthusiast who volunteered to send OuterEdge stripped playfields they were looking for (way back in the earlier posts) so they could create the Hardtops. Then when I received my playfields back with the prototype Hardtops I needed to reassemble the playfield looking for disparities such as misaligned inserts, extra holes, missing holes, etc.
2) Those of you who want a Hardtop done for a particular title should be prepared to someday, sometime maybe be asked to strip that playfield (top & bottom) and ship it to them. Then 2-3 months later put it back together. Somebody has to do that work to get the Hardtop released.
I'd offer my bally strikes and spares if it meant it'd get done!
Quoted from Axl:Don`t you have to sand the whole thing down? Just the inserts?
The inserts must be done. As long as the rest is smooth and scuffed up for adhesion you're good to go
