Considering this for a space shuttle... but I'm doubtful the play field will be solid enough for it to work.

The hard top worked out great for our space shuttle project! There were a few minor alignment issues which were probably just due to mid-run spec changes but the critical thing... inserts were all dead on!

I would like to see 8-ball done. CPR playfields are gone and I don't particularly like the thought of using a typical overlay given my experience using this product for Space Shuttle.

Quoted from Outsidedge:

Yes! I agree with all those otherwise complete games that just need the Hardtop. The big hurdle is to get past the "stigma" of it being accused of just being a "sticker" overlay. It's not even close. NEVER PART OUT A PINBALL MACHINE... well unless it was in the swimming pool or something.

This was saved with the help of a hardtop overlay:

Quoted from Skypilot:

Also by clearing the inserts you're helping to seal the edges

This was my thought to clearing the entire playfield on the Space Shuttle. The playfield was so borderline (we had to inject the ends with glue and clamp to stop delamination from water damage) that I wanted it sealed up.

6 months in and still looking like a new playfield.

Quoted from oldskool1969:

That play field is beautiful Dude. That patina is superb and tells a fantastic story. PURE ART!

LOL! Whenever I start talking about restoration with a buddy of mine he always asks about leaving in the patina. “Man... the patina is what makes it rad, you can see what it went through yet here it is working perfectly!”
