Today, June 12th 2020 marks the 75th birthday of Gary Stern. Congratulations Gary! Hope he'll have a wonderful day.
Last night, Martin Ayub of Pinball News and I (editor of Pinball Magazine) send our congratulations to him, and marked this milestone with a landmark interview looking back at his entire life in the pinball business.
From growing up in the coin-op trade, to his first days working at a Williams, buying Chicago Coin, starting Stern Electronics, then founding Data East Pinball, the transition to Sega Pinball and forming Stern Pinball, we examine the trends, the markets, the games and the people with whom Gary worked during his lifetime in pinball, like never before.
Our interview is so extensive it lasted over two-and-a-half hours, so we have split it into Part One and Part Two.
Part One, which covers the very latest news from the Stern Pinball factory before looking at the earlier years of his career, is available now by clicking the link below.

Part Two, which takes us through more recent times and looks at how the pinball business has developed over the decades, will be released over the coming weekend. So, check back to catch that and get an insight like no other into where pinball is now and how it got there.
