I have an unpopulated playfield that I would like to use as wall art.
What is the best way to hang these? I was thinking of running a picture wire through some of the holes at the top and using pictures hooks, but I don't know if this would be the best method.
Also, is it ok for drywall, or do I need to hand it from studs?
I have been using the 7/8 rubber post sleeves and sticking them into one of the through holes at the top, then screwing through the post rubber. It compresses down a bit, and puts pressure on the through hole, holding the playfield in place.
This method does not damage the playfield, which is good if you are using playfield that may later be installed in games.

Thank you, I was worried about the picture wire potentially doing damage.
I have half a dozen hanging on my wall in my game room. All of them are hung the same way. I use drywall screws that go through an already existing hole in the PF at each corner. Hangs flat against the wall and isn't coming off unless you go crazy trying to pull it off the wall.

I like this idea so it lays flat. I have a bunch classic stern playfields I am going to hang in my new gameroom and I will probably do it this way.
Grabbed some pictures to help visualize how it turns out. I thought I used drywall screws but it looks like I just used some deck screws I had laying around already when we moved. Should have used drywall but even those hold it nice and tight against the wall.
Boxed out the screw locations to help show them.

Now THAT"S a collection of PF's! What I wouldn't do for a flatbed scanner big enough for a PF and about 2-3 days at your house. I have a sick hobby of enjoying redrawing PF's for virtual pinball and wall art overlays (thus how my batman DE PF happened).

Thank you! I think I am going to go with this method. Gotta pick up some drywall screws tomorrow.
I hung mine with a wire across the back. Pick up some battery operated Angle Lights from Amazon ($8). I used little pieces of duct tape to put them behind the inserts. Looks great.
I dont like seeing the heads of the screws when looking at the playfields so I used some simple picture frame brackets. One on each of the top two corners and then mounted to the wall using low profile head screws. Playfield finishes basically flush with no hardware exposed and only two small holes in the wall. You could try only one bracket but the weight might be too much over time.

I used a set of twinkling or chaser led lights and some hot glue.

I use constant-on 5v string lights. However, I have toyed with this idea, and thought it would be freakin' rad. Sadly, I don't know Arduino well enough.
