Hey all, new here and new to pinball ownership. Play a lot of locally but the family decided to surprise me with one of these for the game room since it's my favorite IP. Couple dumb questions for veterans and folks who have already gotten theirs:

How difficult is it to set up and play out of the box? Something a reasonable person can handle alone or should I look to a local with some experience?
What are the dimensions set up? My game area has pretty low clearance (88in) but I can also make room in the garage.
If I do need to make room in the garage, I assume these are pretty sensitive to humidity? I can get a dehumidifier and upgrade the weather stripping but I'd like to do that as much in advance as possible.
What else do I need to know that's obvious to a veteran but a n00b will probably overlook?

Thanks!

Quoted from Danzig:

I’m normally a very patient person, but game #’s up to 281 have been delivered and owners are getting to play them. Meanwhile I’m # 228 and still haven’t received mine yet, I’m still patient but for having to wait while #’s way past mine have delivered, I certainly hope that at least it has the corrected multiball insert.

My #209 is still in transit. Shipping is crazy and I'm on the west coast so it's an even longer wait. Hopefully soon!

Just got the call from the trucking company and #209 comes home on Thursday

#209 just now, but people in the 300s already have theirs? What gives?

It shipped a month ago, it's been a journey

Ok! It's arrived, it's in the house, and I'm following the setup instructions. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to release the lockdown bar. It feels like the two tabs inside should be a release for it but they won't budge. What am I missing?

#3647 2 years ago

got it, thanks! I was trying to make it harder than it needed to be. Now to level it and put some games in!

I'm having a great time, but there's one spot I keep getting a ball stuck. It's by Loomis' head. Any tips for an adjustment I can make? I'm a novice at this so forgive the real basic questions...

Here are a few better pictures of what I think is causing my ball to get stuck. If it comes down the right hand return lane (Loomis) without enough velocity it stops. When I look at the metal lifting-thingy underneath the lane it's not flush with the playfield, it's a quarter inch (ish) raised. On the left return (Laurie) it's flush.

Quoted from KSP1138:

I noticed that too. I think just about everybody goes for the secret skill shot, right? The only time I get points for a regular skill shot is by accident, so I never bother selecting one now.

Is Judith Myers the secret one?

I took over #209 through Pinballstar (butter cab)

Mine arrived 2/25 (#209) and I'm a complete novice. I got it set up, leveled as best I could, and made one small adjustment. My GF and I have played daily since it got here and we're nowhere near tired of it. I'm lousy at the shots and a few modes feel nearly impossible. But the challenge is rewarding when you finally do clear one. My high score is an embarrassing 32 million but I'm

The main problem now is that it makes me want another machine but there's nothing out there that I've enjoyed playing as much. Iron Maiden has great music but the gameplay doesn't feel nearly as polished. Godzilla is probably the next most 'fun' that I've played.

Quoted from Cento:

Has anyone figured out the code update using a Mac? I don’t have a PC. Spooky said if I attempt the code update on a Mac, I could have to have the whole game reloaded. I rather not do that but the game needs code desperately. Could someone tell me how to update code on a Halloween from a Mac?

Don't risk it, I'll send you my flash drive with the latest update on it. Just pay shipping your way and send it back once you're done

couple plays in after installing the update and the upper playfield flippers (sanitarium and house) both stopped working. Bug or mechanical issue?

Gone through the posts and I don't see this mentioned yet so I guess I just got lucky. I'll try calling CS this week.

This software version seems a lot less stable than the previous versions. I have to power down and restart several times a day or else the game start sequencing starts crashing. Hopefully there's a patch or another update in the pipeline.

#6800 1 year ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

Possible. It hasn’t really bothered me, so I haven’t raised it as an issue. The lights and display will freeze, no response from the start button. Quick reboot and I’m back in business.
Spooky, I’m #80, so if there’s a code issue to address with that version of board set, those are the symptoms.

#207 just in case

#6802 1 year ago
Quoted from lpeters82:

We have a forthcoming fix that should take care of that issue.

lpeters82 I had the upper two playfield flippers stop working at the same time as the start glitch hit. Related or coincidental mechanical issue?
