Quoted from Mad_Dog_Coin_Op:

mine is physically shorter than the standard one. Maybe the length issue was corrected, but I would never say the OEM knife one is solid and has tons of power (at least in my case).

Have you taken it apart and cleaned all of the parts? The shooter assembly on my Ultraman was super sticky until I did that.

#12652 50 days ago

I guess I need to do that. Mine definitely does not have a lot of power

With a standard shooter, I 100% agree, but the knife shooter has issues. It is badly out of balance, and mine is physically shorter than the standard one. Maybe the length issue was corrected, but I would never say the OEM knife one is solid and has tons of power (at least in my case).

Not doubting you at all, but I haven't had any issue with my knife shooter. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "balance" in this case, but it never had any trouble making a full plunge around the orbit, and it's pretty fast at full plunge. I wouldn't say TONS of power, but plenty for what it needs to do. Hopefully yours was an isolated or rare issue.

#12654 50 days ago

Adjusted rod, bent the bars a bit. Lines up w shroud and power is perfect. I truly appreciate you guys being so available to address this.

You seem to have quite a few issues with this pin. I’d go front to rear and inspect, wiggle, move everything I could get to. Were there mods installed?

I mean…damn.

#12656 50 days ago

Glad you are good to go enjoy your games!

#12657 50 days ago

Nice work.

Now. Go through that entire pin and check every fastener you can reach. underlord has good advice for you, there.

Was shown it had “10 plays”. Not sure I trust that for the age. The dealer strikes me as reputable, but who knows where this really came from.

The handle not being a uniform shape causes the balance issue, but the larger problem is the shorter rod. A 1/4" in length makes all the difference. Hopefully it was corrected later on. I was an early recipient of the knife shooter. Mine is also hollow. Not sure it the later ones were.

I’m going to roll with this for a while. Need to get some sheet metal screws for shroud. 6.5 a good angle for this game? You guys ever use the Klein angle/level finder?

Nicely done. Looks good now. Things were bent out of shape somehow, but looks correct now.

Dealer said, “it’s basically new…(trailing off)…we did use it to prop open the warehouse overhead door for a few months, but we put a pool noodle between there.”

Just kidding. Looks like you fixed the shooter issue. But the above comments are right, check everything now to be sure. Enjoy your game!

I’m not going to fault him for it. He has a great collection and was helpful. I’m not sure he was even aware of this. He’s on pinside as a dealer. I called him and he suggested I shift the PF or adjust rod, but clearly the bars were bent. Looking fwd to rocking this game, once I get those sheet metal screws.

Glad you got it fixed! I have a feeling the snapped bolt and nut that tumbled down your playfield might be one of your apron bolts. I checked mine and it is nutted from the back like that. Hard to tell if the size is right, but I think it's possible. That would mean the rest of it, and the other one, are likely in there somewhere. I would put the playfield up and see if you can find them laying in the bottom of the cab or caught up in the wiring harness, subway, etc. If it's in the subway it could cause ball hangups down there (and this game already can suffer from that pretty easily without help). If it's in the wiring harness under the playfield, it could work its way into somewhere and cause a short. I would try to find them before they find you.

Pretty sure plays in audit, reset with each code update on Halloween. At least, they always have in the past, on mine. So, who knows the total plays on that bad boy...

What's this? A 1/4" shorter you say? I was one of the first to get both my Halloween and ultraman custom shooters and both have a super weak shot now, that has gotten worse over time. I wonder if those springs 'broke in', the rubber tip flattened out, combined with a shorter rod to make it worse. I have shots that dribble back down the right orbit. I have slid the playfields back and forth to every position imagineable and while I noticed a slight difference depending on what I chose, none of them solved the issues I am having.

I noticed on my LOTR the rod tip sticks out past the auto launch a good 1/4". Hwn/um looks to be flush at this point and when pushing it in and compressing the external spring, it still barely protrudes past the bracket. I should throw the originals back on and see.

I switched to the standard Spooky shooter and never looked back. The knife is cool, but it just doesn't work that well. No harm in swapping. Give it a try and report back.

Hey Everbody, just swapping over from the german "Flippermarkt" after beeing a silent reader here for the last couple years. I am the glad Owner of Halloween BSE #1137. Just a quick question. My HW has a pretty loud coil humming in the left flipper bat coil. I even added a saddle washer, as there was none built in in the assembly, but it still is louder, than in my other Pins. Can you confirm, that is "normal"? Also, my upper Michael servo is shaking like hell, once he´s the contact is triggered. since it has no impact on the game, i´d just wait for it to pass out as i recieved an extra servo. anybody with these... "issues"?
Regards!

My flipper buzzes more than I would like when I hold it, but I usually can't hear it because I have the volume so high.

Shaky Michaels are not uncommon.

#12673 49 days ago

My left flipper has always had a louder buzz to it, but not so much that it is unnerving.

Same on my UM, little buzz if you hold the left flipper only. Not enough to make me worry though.

Yeah... with mine, its enough to recongnize, but not enough to really worry me, though. Its just unusualy loud in comparison. Appreciate all your answers!

#12676 49 days ago

I had left flipper buzz when new. I unplugged the connector at the pinotaur board and re-seated it. My buzz went away.

Yeah 6.5 seems good imo. I'm more like 6.7 but yeah that should be good. Yeah I use the small Klein block/leveler. I have like a 6 or so inch level too from random brand on Amazon. I've tested both and they have given equal results (both positive). Lots of people use the pinball level app but I just use my actual levels since I have them but the app may be fine.

It's been a long time since I had the "infinite multiball" bug. I thought it was fixed with the latest update.

I’ve had it once, and reported it. But I did end it by getting into the store that time, which was interesting.

The knife shooter rod is a bit shorter than a standard shooter rod, so you're not getting as much contact on the ball. It should still be enough to get the ball around the orbit though.

A little trick I did to remedy that was put a hex nut inside the shooter tip rubber. Essentially making the shooter tip ever so slightly longer so it makes better contact with the ball. Been playing for a year now without issue.

LOL - great idea actually

If you own Halloween… Stop what you’re doing and message Vimtoman about getting one of his scoop mods. I thought I had my scoop dialed in but holy crap this thing makes the shot hard to miss. I also ordered a black version but opted to use this green version since it matches the pumpkin leaves that he includes with the house mod.

Also nice that it is a fast install since it simply slides over the existing scoop.

I don’t remember but it was easy to trace the wires to the driver board. Also make sure the pins are fully inserted in the connector while you have it removed.

Hi all, where in the settings can I fine tune the upper playfield diverter? I see servo settings but I can’t get in there. The green button doesn’t do anything…

Edit - Found it in feature settings.

Agree 100%. My scoop was so hard to hit after repeatedly trying to bend it, tweak it, etc. Vimtoman's scoop mod has fixed all of the unreliability, and is really a game changer for my machine. Highly recommended!

How does one lift the middle playfield ?

#12693 46 days ago

I had the problem where you had to hit the drop targets multiple times at times to make them drop.

I installed the different springs suggested in this thread and what a game changer.

They drop everytime on first hit now. Awesome.

Kudos to the person who figured out the right springs for the drops.

I am willing to be corrected, but this does not seem possible without significant disassembly.

There is no easy way to do it as far as I can see on my own game (UM).

Yea you got to take it apart to get just that middle field off

#12696 46 days ago

I tried that, but it didnt work for me. But i figured, the coil, even with the saddle washer i placed, still sits a little bit loose. i think the small plastic that holds the coil in place is too thin and therefore, the coil vibrates to much. the right flipper bat coil sits in place tightly. Well... i guess i´d need to replace the plastic to geet rid of the humming.

Has anyone had the flippers just die and go inoperative when doing Jack O Lantern multiball?

Loaned out Halloween to a mate and he took a video of it happening - is it a known bug I haven't seen it before?
