I’m getting some rejects on the left ramp. It seems the screws are kind of janky. Anyone else have this? If so, tips on lifting the playfield to fix?

I am a total newb to tweaking pins, but I would try to just tighten them lightly first.

As far as lifting the playfield, it is just like any other pin. Lots of YouTube videos have helped me.

I meant lifting the upper playfield. You can’t access the screws to tighten without lifting some stuff.

Quoted from icyjones:

Everyone, I have accomplished a life achievement. I have seen nudity on a pinball machine.
Finally got that upper playfield shot to go across the balcony, and luckily during Bob and Lynda's demise mode.

My wife and I keep choosing the B&L mode just for the boobs. We are so immature!

Gotcha. Not sure about that. I would be calling service about it.

Here is a pic of mine. They are easy to access. Especially at the angle they put mine in.
I am not getting rejects.

I thought they would have fixed the protruding screws, they need to be flush. Overtime they will come loose and the hole bigger they screw into as well as the screw heads getting damaged.

I agree 100%. I pointed this out to Spooky years ago.

No excuse for it to leave the shop like that.

Disappointed to see this is still a thing. Same problem on my Alice Cooper. This is poor QC.

#1064 2 years ago

Maybe Velcro the ramp down lol

Can see why it’s like that but it’s a bad design, never seen a ramp attached like that with countersink screws that are not flush.

#1065 2 years ago

Another poster pointed this out to Spooky in post #34 in this thread.

Yep I knew about this way back and thought it was a prototype thing.

That ramp really should have countersunk holes.

edit: my mistake - I thought the ramp was plastic, not metal. You'll actually need to use a countersink bit to fix. Yikes.

#1068 2 years ago

That looks like a home brew ramp. Do they all come like this? Seems like an easy fix, don’t understand how it hasn’t been addressed.

#1069 2 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

You can unscrew the screws using a power drill or (better) screwdriver, then *keep* unscrewing them to heat up the plastic a touch, and then switch back to forward and screw the screws down. This will both countersink the plastic and form the hole to the screw, plus add a little extra grip, like threadlok.

Think it’s a metal ramp?

Edit: you spotted it

Better than plastic as will not split.

Yikes, yeah, same thing two months ago.

As an early adopter, I expect normal tweaking and dealing with some issues. I’ll fix this and move on, no big deal. But going forward, this is a problem to address.

They probably had a batch already machined that they have to use; but it's not a huge additional step to add the countersinking

Nope, hopefully this is something they have already adjusted for and are just using old stock... Either way, it's fixable...

Thanks for the tip - Mine is being delivered in the next couple hours so I’ll be making sure to check out the ramp immediately.

Those screws look like crap.
That would drive me batshit.

Deleted.

This game is going to be like all the others, that were highly disliked/controversial at the start (e.g. Stranger Things, PoTC) and are later impossible to buy.

I'm doubling down and getting the butter cabinet.

#1080 2 years ago

Are they stick and peel or do you have to screw them into the bottom of the cabinet? Thanks

I bought 3 rolls of clear double sided tape.
Does not have to be clear but I like the clear look better.

Hope so. Early sentiment on Stranger enabled me to get a resale LE with UV kit for $7500.

Damn, would love to find a premium anywhere. Got into buying pins too late for that.

At least I was able to get on the Halloween train.

time to start shit kicking poor Spooky again !

true could have been checked , however whenever a game comes in I go over it with great detail new or used!

such a trivial thing , but yes I'm aware I spent 10k and this shouldn't happen ... waaahaa waaahaa waaahaaa!

You ready to sell that Stranger Things LE to me for $7500?

If so go ahead and send me a PM and we can get it set-up.

This is a naive comment. Pointing things out to Spooky is helpful. I have been doing so ever since I operated a Rob Zombie, which had many design issues. They learn as they go.

#1089 2 years ago

Yeah not loving the screws sitting up that's really ...kind of bummed to see that.

Don't be a dick. Having screws protruding out like that is bush league. Spooky should know that by now since it has been an issue for at least the last two games.

Yep. Nobody likes ramp rejects and ball hang ups. High time to start doing it right. If enough complain they will address it.

Just set it up - beautiful looking game. Love the powder coating - not as gold as I thought it would be which is nice- more like a gold/black texture. Fits well. My Topper has issues - the knife is not attached to the motor (looks like I need a very small Allen wrench) and it is also missing parts of the pumpkin plastics - just shot Spooky an email. Ball got stuck on the ramp next to the first Hedge Michael on my first game - had to give it a little bend to open up the guide. Screws look a little off on the ramp but I have not had any rejects yet. Will comment on gameplay after I play for a while.

Not only that but they end up scratching up balls which in turn scratch the playfield. I just don't understand how QC sees that and passes it along.

Already changed the ramp design! Just got the new one done this week. Email service and we will get you a new one!
It was a flat out bad design on my end. Rookie mistake. Guys I can't over state how easy it is to just get ahold of us and we will help you. No need to get upset. 9/10 times we can get anything sorted right away.

Yes, tiny Allen wrench. When you reattach it to the motor, make sure you tighten the screw on the flat side of the post, otherwise you won’t be able to get it tight enough and it’ll keep falling off.

Yes sir. All the metal parts, playfield CAD, custom mechs, ramps, etc.

Unfortunately I do make mistakes here and there! All part of learning! I think there is alot to love about this game and I bet a year from now people will be really happy they have it in their collection.

Find another company that reads Pinside and often provides same-day updates and fixes.

If this doesn't encourage purchases of HALL/UMAN then I don't know what will.

Well done Luke.
