Look who decided to join the party! An HUO BSE with a few mods and blue powder in a straight trade for my lightly routed DP pro! Spooky addict alert! Many blessings to the guy who’s family deemed this game “unfair”. They’ll have more fun with DP while I fully welcome the brutal ass kickings that await me in the castle! Everyone wins!

Just got the call from Fed Ex #770 will be here Tuesday

They called me yesterday for #762 delivery today, but this morning I got a call saying the freight shipment had not arrived yet, and had to reschedule for Monday. Fingers crossed.

I just set up Halloween 616 this week. I can't even describe how impressed I am with this game. It is such a beautiful machine and shoots amazing! I am certainly not an expert as the only other machine I own is Iron Maiden, which I love and will never sell, but Halloween just seems to be one of the coolest of all time. One thing I was totally surprised about is how snappy the flippers are. I was even thinking about seeing if there is an option to dial them down a bit as they really have some serious power. The lighting and callouts really add to the atmosphere of the game as well. My only complaint would be the "flash type" animations. I am not looking for movie clips for everything, in fact I would not want that, but I am hoping these might be replaced or improved at some point. I am excited to see what Spooky does with the code over time! All and all, I am super happy with this game and to be in the owners club!

I do have one question. My right inlane lifter is constantly going up and down. I am guessing this is not what it is supposed to do?

#6509 1 year ago
Quoted from Mro-Tek:

It’s not supposed to do that. I would check the switch first. Hopefully that is just sticking. The return lane lifts were a little problematic with some of the games early on.

Are there mechanical switches or optos for the lifters?

#6511 1 year ago
Quoted from dnaman:

I thought I did see a switch before, but none. Four optos on the left lift, and one opto on the right lift.

Mro, make sure your optos are aligned, and the green and white wires all have good solder joints.

What’s the latest butter number? I think I saw 490? I’m 563 so hoping it’s soon.

Threw some orange Titan flip rubbers on while I had the glass off. Looks good with the leaf theme they have going on down there.

802 here and received my butter query from Joe and the gang at PinballSTAR yesterday! Butter for the win!

#6515 1 year ago

Anyone else get the ball stuck against the apron after a left out lane drain? Those lanes are very thin, so I think I need to bend the apron back to create the room.

Love the game. Shot geometry is awesome. Ambience unprecedented. Very clever design.

Question - in the backbox, for the 2 USB cables coming out of the harness, does it matter what USB port you plug them into (front or back)? I had to remove the backbox and forgot to label them haha

I apologize, @flukevfx, I was incorrect with what I told you earlier. I also have two black USB cables plugged in there. The free USB port is in front of the blue cable.

It shouldn't matter where either cable is plugged in.

It might, but it shouldn't :p

Trying that today. I’ll post results if successful.

Quoted from Mudflaps:

Success. I used the BriteButtons lighted flipper buttons from pinballlife and molex connections to the rear cabinet power board.

https://www.pinballlife.com/156-396mm-crimp-stuff-3-position-housing-with-locking-ramp-17575.html

https://www.pinballlife.com/britebuttons-illuminated-flipper-button-set-for-stern-spike-spike-2-system-machines.html

Trim and crimp wires. Black to ground, red to 12V. The housing only had three terminal (should be four), so make sure your wires are where they need to be.

The whole thing took maybe 10 minutes, and many terminals were sacrificed.

OK, so you used two of the power connectors on that power board, the ones that are GND-12v-5v-Key ?

RM

#6526 1 year ago

Also, want to adjust the flipper bat alignment of the top upper level mini playfield.

How am I supposed to get to the crank?

No matter what position I put the playfield in a cannot seem to be able to get to it.

RM

#6527 1 year ago

Start at about 5 minutes. While I highly suggest a second person, if you decide to do it alone, I'd highly suggest placing something between your your playfield and powder coating.

Yes, two wires. Ground and 12V.

Edit: You could also make your own with flex LEDs, DIY wiring and a bulb housing. That would be 5V.

I fixed the broken lamp under the Sanitarium playfield for the fourth time. Super frustrating. The switch is directly in the path of the shooter lane. It takes a beating and eventually fails, knocking out the lower LED strip and a few inserts.

I tried to reroute the hole to relocate the switch, but removing the Sanitarium playfield requires major surgery.

No offense, but that is a terrible design aspect.

I am by myself, and that is a high-risk maneuver IMO.

It should be possible to access that flipper mech without dangerous playfield gymnastics.

That Ball Guide should have a (factory) shallow channel cutout for the wiring path. Wouldn't impede ball movement and would allow for better wire routing.

Maybe try removing those rubbers to get the lamps to suck up to the bottom of the upper PF a bit more to gain clearance? If you are concerned about vibration, a strip of rubber from a bike tube should be sufficient, iwt?

I added a soft block mechanism to the board, but of course the ball hit that and rejected the plunge.

The next time it fails, I’m going move the board, remove the rubber and use hot glue/gorilla tape. There’s not enough leverage to route a new screw hole.

#6533 1 year ago

I'd grab an MRS switch to install, for the next time you are in there. I had a lot of problems with ball ramping on the orbit in R&M and the MRS solved that.

Carpet tape might be a solution for getting that board flush to the bottom of the upper PF without additional drilling/screws?

Copy, thanks. I haven’t had any issues with the switch yet, so I haven’t felt the need to install an MRS.

Spooky does, however, need to make thicker plastic protectors. I got two stuck balls for the price of one with the often-broken drop target protector.

It really is a fun game. I was on the tail end of the production a few years ago but it was worth the wait. If you are looking for any MODS, Medisinyl has some really good ones for this pin.

I really want the lab mod but it’s out of production as far as I can tell.

Wondering if a cardboard protector will save that board, ala TZ mini pf style? Looks tight in there.

I finally played this game for the first time last night. I was very impressed. Admittedly, I’m a huge Halloween and John Carpenter fan, so this purchase was a no-brainer for me, and my first “must have” game sight-unseen. I love the art, music, and fairly good use of movie content. Yes, some animations are pretty…something. But even those didn’t bother me, and perhaps future code will improve that. The game was immersive and oozed Halloween right from the start. A couple of spots on the playfield trapped the ball (uppermost playfield outlane too narrow and the flap for the right ball return under the sling), but those are correctable. The shots are satisfying and smooth. Nice mix of flow and interruptions. My #702 arrives soon, hopefully tomorrow. Looking forward to unboxing and getting into it more! So far, very encouraged. I was hoping the game was at least ok, that would be enough for me given the theme. My first take on the layout and gameplay is, it’s much better than ok. It’s creative and unique.

Anyone else's topper fall off. The knife literally fell off of its hinge and it took the plastic pumpkin slices down with it. Now, I have to glue them as they won't stay together with the connectors anymore. I also have to figure out the knife came loose in the first place. Off to check it out.

#6541 1 year ago

Why on earth would you glue on an easily replaceable part?

Can anyone tell/show me how exactly the knife attaches to the motor? It seems as if it should just slide on but it doesn’t. I’m missing something here lol

Depends what fell off on yours. There is a circular metal part that should be attached to the knife. It has two tiny (.05) hard to see Allen head set screws on it that you use to tighten to the motor shaft once you slide it on
