Quoted from djsolzs:

These look great! I am working on a couple myself - if anyone is interested I print cards for games using a sublimation process to metal. Has a nice look on metal just let me know. I only do it by word of mouth and have some examples from people in posts here on pinside if you want to check them out.
$35 shipped per set - discount for additional sets if you are interested in other titles.

I would be interested in seeing the Halloween cards you might be working on.

Sorry about the noise
I've noticed this happens now whenever you sink a hedge none of the other knives do this and it's the only time it doesn't light up

Mine gets delivered Friday.

SPOOOOOKY!

Somebody know how much pinballs spooky made in a month?

Cant wait to play this great pin.
I am number 759 so i think I have to wait for a long time

My machine has the powder coat issue too. Woke up and it was very tacky to the touch across the lock bar.

I coated it very heavily with rattlecan clear coat, and it's problem solved. This one is an easy one.

Just pulled in and here is 551. I am a lucky man as I sat here and stared at this box. My first wife never allowed me to get a single pin. My second wife hell she helps setup shipping and makes sure she's home to help.

March 2021 she couldn't take it anymore listening to me talk about MM and said buy one or shut up. So we found one and bought it 10 pins later the addiction is real and she's always been very very helpful.

Cheers to my first Spooky and thank you to all those at Spooky for making this theme happen.

I doubt anything in a can is going to be a long term fix except for maybe Max 2K. At a minimum it probably needs to be a two part automotive clear or better yet a clear powder coat.

I’ll share no strings attached next couple days.

584 (Spooky) invoiced and paid for today (woot).

So far every NIB that i get delivered arrives when i’m out of town. Might happen with this one too as i’m heading back up to the Motherland for a couple of weeks soon…. Fortunately my wife is now well versed on what to do before signing the shipping docs.

Funny story - my last NIB (Elvira) arrived and i was out of town. A friend of mine came over to receive it for me. Was a very nice looking JP premium. All got sorted out in the end by my distro. This year I acquired a JP of my own so that was probably a sign lol.

Quoted from lpeters82:

I think I've posted this before, but I want to make sure everyone has a good understanding of drop target springs. Here is a summary:
10-364 - https://www.pinballlife.com/williamsbally-flipper-extension-spring.html
This is what I'd consider the LIGHT spring. It's what we used in the original builds. It's the weakest spring and worked consistently in early games, but users started reporting issues with drop targets being rejected. If that's happening on your game, my first suggestion would be to just skip some rings on this spring to tighten them up. A 5-minute adjustment with a needle-nose pliers.
265-5003-00 - https://www.pinballlife.com/data-eastsegastern-drop-target-spring.html
This is what I'd consider the MEDIUM spring. It's what we're using in current builds. I feel this is the goldilocks spring. There might still be a limited number of rejects, but we haven't seen any drop target reset issues.
10-433 - https://www.pinballlife.com/drop-target-reset-spring.html
This is what I'd consider the HEAVY spring. A number of individuals on Pinside have switched to this machine with success. It will likely have the fewest number of rejects, but during our testing we experienced some drop target reset issues. If unchecked these issues could have burnt up the reset coil. I'm not saying don't use it, but I would advise the individual to keep a close eye on the behavior.

Mine (#82) had this issue from the start and I replaced them with 10-364 springs from Marco and it completely fixed the issue. Well, they work 99.9% of the time. I guess the replacements were a little stiffer since I apparently replaced like for like and didn't tighten them at all.

Do you already have another mode active? Does the game recognize you hit that scoop?

So, do new Spooky pinballs get thrown away or are they usable?

And if I do need new ones, does Halloween have magnets? Or are Silver Jets an option?

Just a normal photo printer. You can maybe take them to Walmart or Target to print. I almost said Kinkos, but that would age me.

Quoted from Mkvgti:

Are we going to glaze over this fire hazard? Or is it a rare instance most owners currently haven't experienced?

Hey all, I just wanted to assure you all that this is *not* a fire hazard. The discoloration is not being caused by hot connectors. A few months ago, our LED supply chain experienced a dry spell, so we had to build them in house for a short time. The connectors we used became discolored during the reflow process. It's a relatively small/cheap oven, so we had to run it a bit hot in order to properly solder a large panel of LED boards, hence the connectors look a bit toasty. But they're totally fine; no mechanical or electrical impact.

Just a suggestion …

Do the two “coin cards” again, but without all the text on there. Just “Halloween” and the background picture.

I think they’ll look really good - and honestly, nobody needs to know about Koris Barloff and his mates on a coin card. TMI.

#5674 2 years ago

Got my game yesterday! Only complaint is the left playfield rail interfering with the coin box, and the awful wood quality on the knife shooter rod. Will definitely be looking into a mod there.

How about we put Bowen's name but have it crossed out.

Is this a programming bug ? Very odd I NEVER saw "Jack-O-Lantern" multiball mode ever on my first roughly 30-50 games. Now that's the first & ONLY mode every time that starts when shooting the pumpkin scoop. I can't seem to trigger any of the other main modes "drivers seat, bob & lynda" etc any more ? I think this is running 1.06b. The other sub modes / sanitarium / hedge multiball all work as they should.

How did you get the sizing right for printing at a Walmart or Target? Was it trial and error with resizing or are those just normal 4x6 prints? The last time I tried to print my own pinball cards it took me several tries to get the sizing correct? Thanks for the help

This happened to me once as well and I reinstalled the code which fixed it.
For me I could start modes, but targets
Would not register during them

A friend just received his HWCE and the two lower hedge Michaels fast shake on power up until after the boot up and then they will go back to fast shaking while playing. 1.06b is now installed and no change. Is this relating to the long wiring all being lopped up and zip tied or is there something else to check?
Thanks.

#5683 2 years ago

Where did you get the spooky key holder? I need one of those.

blockquote cite="#6911676">403 butter arrived today! Looks so awesome in person (and I’m not even a fan of the movie).
It was really late by the time I got it setup so I only got 3 games in (with gloves on until I can add a clear coat to the armor later this week). Initial gameplay impressions are very good. Really fun and smooth to shoot. Faster than expected but pausing for the blood store/mode selections threw my flow off a bit compared to how my R&M automatically selects rewards/adventures. That said, I really appreciate how different and unique this pin is to play. Especially liking how the upper playfields are incorporated. Favorite moment so far was the ball magnet/ghost scene. No clunky brick shots except I had about 50% success rate on the pumpkin scoop so I’ll be looking to alter that. The lights and audio are so good in a dark room. Just hoping the volume levels get evened out with user settings. Even at the lowest volume some parts can get very loud. Otherwise, no issues out of the box except the topper LED strip is not working and the wires connecting it get very hot. Emailed support and expect it will be no big deal.
Great initial experience. Looking forward to playing the shit out of it.

They’re already sized correctly. 3.25” x 6”. You should be able to print by keeping the original dimensions. If you’re taking them somewhere, I’d recommend that you mention the size.

To be honest, these were fairly quick mock-ups. I’ll add a few more with some other ideas to include a less TMI version. Thanks for the feedback.

I also don’t want to spam our little thread with cards. I’ll post again with some updated designs or just drop them in the custom card thread.

Mine does that too, I think it's normal. Do they come out when you get the ball in them?

I should have taken a video. They do come out and return but they are really shaky on his and yet another friend and mine are without this issue altogether.

Background: I restore Porsches as a hobby and have a powder coating oven in my workshop.

I don’t know if you’ve ever sanded off a single layer of clear coat, but it takes a while. I have every confidence a good, thick coat can stand up to years of fingerprint oil.

I’m not going to powdercoat more clear coat because this seems like a curing issue and I think it could affect the surface texture.

I don’t know why it became “a thing” to add all that info - someone did it years ago, then everyone did it.

I vote post them up here - no better place to post them than in the Owners thread.

I’ll mark them as a Key Post so people can find them down the track. (As I did with your ones above)

Quoted from kciaccio:

I remember when you could buy Munsters and Stranger things pros for 4800 on pinside. Halloween isn't even finished with code and animations yet and keeps getting better. I have not had any real issues with my Halloween. They sent me new redesigned ramps and my lower led light strip is out which I don't even miss. Out of the box I had to do a 5 minute switch adjustment in the jack o lantern scoop that is it.
My only issue I have is my armor starting to wear and that is all I need to be addressed because of the price I paid, that should not be an issue.

I just noticed 3/4 of my lower LED light strip is out. Did you ever find a fix for this or replace it?

Quoted from Lpilot1:

It’s likely a bad strip. I had to replace mine twice. Easy install, maybe 5 minutes. You’ll need clear zip ties.

So how does one cure our bars and rails? Or just clean them with soap and water and add clear ourselves? Yes I’ve painted, but not at a pro level.

Well ok. Shouldn’t have to be doing that on a brand new game that cost thousands of dollars.

I also had this happen and it was actually the small led board under one of the mini playfields. The connectors are very fragile on the board, and if they get bent will not work. Spooky includes some of those extra boards in the coinbox.

I thought that could be the case so I unplugged the LED strip from the board it was attached to and plugged it into another one to test that. There was no change. Only 4 lights are illuminating on the strip no matter which one it was in.

Def the strip then. Its one of those things you dont notice at first when out, but once you realize it isnt working your eyes are drawn to it!
