Damn. With all these GIFs I’m starting to feel like I really need to convert this thing to an LCD/LED display.

That was kind of my intention

Yeah but with these passion projects aren’t we always? I have a Goldeneye that I spent years and $1000s getting every NOS part for a full NOS restore, I’ll never get that money back but it was so worth it

True. And a full NOS Goldeneye is worthy of that effort IMO.

My buddy was over looking at the PF set up on JL to help with some design ideas, and I started playing around with some sounds on the synth. Videoed the friend in from LA, and didn’t even know he was filming this. Too funny, had to upload it.

How about a custom built back box in the shape of Judith's tombstone.
You could make the score displays only appear if they are lit.... no wait, I want this idea for when I ever do a custom theme pin.

That actually sounds pretty cool…you just made my BOM $51k on this pin.

Heading to South Pasadena in a couple of weeks. Going to find all the shooting location of the original movie. Something I've wanted to do for many, many years.

Nice...definitely post a pic or two. My sister lives in the valley (Castaic), so I’ll have to plan a trip down there next time I visit CA.

And you have to recreate this classic shot if your visiting some of the iconic film locations.

Oh, I've studied exactly where to go for years. Many sites out there have the addresses. There are also good videos on YouTube.

I will definitely be re-creating that hedge scene.

Got a great deal on Airbnb for a guest cottage in Pasadena (separate city), and just a 5 minute drive to the heart of South Pasadena.

Fun fact: While most of Haddonfield was shot in South Pasadena, the babysitter houses are actually in Hollywood! They are about a half a block off of Sunset Blvd! They are also only a half a mile away from the Sunset Grill. Remember that old Don Henley song from the 80's? Yup, old Don himself could have grabbed a burger and ate it on a short walk over to the babysitter houses!

Awesome. Even the mask aged LOL. Maybe I’ll make two games and ask him if he wants one.

The film looks great, early reviews where very positive and additional media outlets are reporting on it very positively, cannot wait to see it!

Mask was made to be an exact replica of the original first mask and then purposefully aged.

It’s also the original actor Nick Castle, back playing Michael Myers to ensure the movements and body language where all accurate and authentic.

Nick Castle is only doing a cameo scene in the movie...the first time Laurie and the Shape see each other. He is also providing the breathing sounds for the Shape. The rest of the time, the Shape is played by James Jude Courtney.

I could be wrong but from what I heard, James did all the physical shots and stunt work.

Nick did the scene that required his “move” (Halloween fans will know what movement I’m talking about) but he actually did a couple of the “stalking” scenes.

#125 5 years ago

Yeah I read that, but heard he had done a couple of extra scenes specifically stalking shots in the way he/Micheal would move now at his age.

I guess we will know for sure when they do the behind the scenes/making of featurettes, but either way I’m excited to see this and hopefully I’ll get to see it early.

I like to think Im fairly knowledgeable about Halloween but never knew about the 3illustrated books from 2009 until the other day.
Looks pretty cool. Definitely gonna check them out.

Our pumpkin we carved a couple of years ago. We really get into Halloween. Our yard has won 3 years in a row for Halloween decorations and I hope for a 4 in a row this year.

That is awesome. Preliminary evaluation by my five-year-old daughter…Michael is freaking her out. She loves horror things, vampires and Halloween is her fav holiday, and plays my BSD all the time. She’ll come around.

Playing around with some ideas for the apron. Going to make new decals in a different font, and get it powder coated for the base color. Just tinkering for now. Is orange too much, or should I go with black?

I would go with a slightly darker orange than this. And keep in mind it looks a little blank without some other art I plan to incorporate.

I might also reach out to the guys at Tilt Graphics to see if they can make me a custom one as a continuation / incorporation of the playfield art.

I think because of the theme and the films use of darkness, I would swap the colours round, so more black with hints/highlights or orange.

Found a picture online that gives a pretty good idea now the orange might look used to highlight around the black.

That’s more what I was thinking after looking at it for a while too. I think I’ll go black with orange for the lettering, and maybe a mix of stripes.

And I actually like what you posted better as a decal for the center.

Are you going LCD with this or good old fashioned DMD with custom dots?

Saw these online, they are bead designs, reminded me of a DMD animation, as much as I love the LCD era we are now in, dots done well are awesome!

Not sure yet, seems like DMD with custom animations would be much harder than uploading some vid clips to a Raspberry Pi or similar tech. I’m definitely going to need some input and assistance when I get to that point.

Just picked up my customized JL instruction manual from Kinko’s.

If you go the dmd route with custom dots give me a shout I’ll happily help you as per your instructions to create dots/frames for your animations.

I had a lot of fun working on my Halloween game last year. I had to watch every film for the research, and I'd only ever seen 1, 2 and 3. From 4 onwards they all suck, but I salvaged some great quotes from Donald Pleasence.

You'll have a ball working on this theme.

Do you think I’m able to transplant a Jungle Lord into a WPC cabinet? Lloyd?

#146 5 years ago

I’m talking about transplanting all of the guts into the head and cabinet. I have a CV cab and MMr head out in my garage. For this Halloween retheme, it would be great to have more space to add to the playfield (ie. butcher knife, perhaps raise some of the plastics w/ hex posts), and to make it easier for display conversion.

Yes.

A lot of work ? Yes.

Worth it ? No idea.

As long as the harnesses would reach where they have to, don’t think it would be that bad. Maybe I am fooling myself. Just an idea.

Depends on your idea for artwork, ideas for the game. Directions you can go with it.

Part way - Half way - All the way.

You get to choose.
