Quoted from thearcadegeek:Has anyone actually received these details? It's been weeks and no PM.
I received a pm with deets the next day, by that was 6 weeks ago when the these was fresh. They might not be checking any more.
I just got my FR-300 w/ 633-01 Iron holder + two tips and a FX888D-23BY Soldering station with 6 additional tips for $345.02. I haven't had a chance to fire them up, but I'm sure they'll work great!
Thanks B&D
Just to follow up. I was a little disappointed in the FR-300. It came with a couple of piece of broken blue plastic inside the gun that jammed up the pump after about 2 seconds of use. I had to take the pump apart twice before I desoldered my first component.
I think I got the trash out of the gun and it should work good now, but I really haven't had a chance to work it hard yet.
Love mine. De soldered some chips on my system 80 board. literally took less than a minute to remove each 14 pin chip.
Thanks Guys!
Got mine on Thursday. Looks good, hopefully going to try it out at some point this weekend.
Stupid duties of $25, but hey, that's life in Canada. Thanks again guys, shipping was super fast.
My god. Got mine a few days ago. This tool is invaluable. I had been using a Weber DS600 for years which wasn't bad, but maintenance was rough on it, constantly ordering parts and tips for it. This is light years better. Ultra-clean desoldered pads, easy cleaning on the tool itself, no trace lifting, parts and ICs fall right out. What an improvement! Highly Highly recommend this to everyone. This tool is worth very cent. Wish I had bought it earlier. I ordered the iron today as well I was so impressed to replace my old Weber wes50.
Got the 880 soldering station yesterday, used it for about 2 hrs last night, very pleased with the results. Very nice upgrade from my Weller WES51.
I got the gun and did some testing on some spare boards. The unit is very easy to use, but having different tips seems to be a must. The default 1mm tip works well for .100 headers, but was a bit big for smaller chip legs and presumably caps/diodes, etc. You can work with the bigger tip, but knowing which sizes are the more common to use would help.
I had problems with a defective unit (on two things I ordered) but B+D was easy to work with and they happily sent advance replacements and paid for return shipping. Thumbs up
I had loose bits of plastic floating around the pump diaphragm and I had to take it apart twice to get the chips out. I think they were just mold flash, but it was annoying to think I got a lemon. But I've used it a lot since then and really like it.

My first unit sounded like it was full of rocks. Pump worked but for a brand new 200+ unit i didnt want to accept something goofy from the start
