Quoted from Boof-Ed:

Sounds to me that if he really is getting it in that timeframe, then someone ordered over 2 years ago, paid in full 20 or so weeks ago and pulled out a couple of weeks shy of receiving the machine. I haven’t heard of anyone getting their machine earlier than 25 weeks from full payment.

Listening to Flip N Out podcast yesterday, Zach said he had a Fathom Mermaid Edition coming in, if anybody wanted it, email him. (I've been looking for one for months and I only go thru distributors) He's Haggis's only US Distributor, guess in the deal he got a couple of unallocated machines? I emailed and texted him immediately, he hooked me up with the slot. Anyway, it is being air shipped over and they have indicated I should see it within 2-6 weeks. I know that cuts the line, but this is how it went down with me. I've dealt with Zach before, he's rock solid. I have no doubt this will happen.

Yep, we are at 24 weeks and counting... but not unexpected so it's hard to be upset. We all still keep that one friend around cuz they're fun

Dear Haggis,

There is an amazing piece of hardware that I don't think you are aware of:

IMG_1428 (resized).jpegIMG_1428 (resized).jpeg

This is called a "T-Nut". You use them on the underside of playfields instead of a washer/nylon nut.

This will prevent frustration among your customers trying to adjust a simple ball guide. Having to hold a 7mm nut stationary on the bottom of the playfield while removing a screw topside is a challenge.

And while we are discussing serviceability, please also add a mechanism to allow the playfield to sit in service position (ie, not fully vertical). Rails, prop rod, heck - even the Stern Pro long bolts that sit on the lockdown receiver. I shouldn't have to do this:

IMG_1427 (resized).jpegIMG_1427 (resized).jpeg

I love the attention to detail in other areas and love my game, but please consider addressing these on future games!

Doesn't it turn on?

Lol, it will, went home for lunch when I got the call from FedEx. So it started like this and so on and so on. Then I had to get back to work. Got it within 2 weeks of my order with Flip N Out.

The chubby precisions are finally installed! Thank you to 1956PINHEAD for letting me experiment with the prototypes. You do have to remove the flipper bracket to get the backside nuts off for the new bushing (like BLY/WMS) and I would recommend getting the keyed linkage/shafts.

I dialed the flippers down to "weak" and I can still make all the shots with the precisions!! I may install stiffer return springs and return the power to normal to see which I like better.

But two thumbs up on having these as an option. Once you feel the precisions, you want them in all your games!

It'd be good to see the Precisions come standard on Centaur.

C'mon Haggis, you already make the best quality pinball machines in the world, why not have the best quality flippers in the world on them?

GO Haggis!

I have my spot for sale if anyone is interested. Downturn in my industry has cash a bit tight here and space is short too.

$2kau will get it for you.

I sold mine. Sold it on the cheap. Needed to make room. I was going to get the whole collection, but when Damien did the "mermaid rules for all" routine I bailed on this company. Ironically, I filled in the spot with CC SE+.

Good luck to the new owner. I replaced the clear plastic flippers that break all the time with white ballys. I included the clear blue with the game as well. Good luck to everyone with their orders.

#870 3 months ago

My best on the original code, thus far. I did earn a minimum of three extra balls though

New owner question:

The water effect under the cab thingie presently goes super fast and alternates kind of harshly between just blue or just green. It's kind of distracting.

I've seen some videos where blue and green are both on all the time and the speed is slower, do I just push some buttons on the back of the device to change things up?

Also, is there a manual specifying the parts used? I need to pick up some metric hex keys because some plastics and posts are loose and apparently T-nuts are not a thing in Australia

Thanks!

Plenty of t nuts in Australia mate.

And how specifically does a T nut stop a post from coming loose?

It has a fixed base for the bolt/screw so it doesn’t move. There is a bigger hole than the screws with the current set up.
My top lane posts would move every time the ball hit them off the pops.
Also changing the rubbers would be a lot easier. I wanted to change mine but when I saw how involved it was going to be I said stuff that.

Don't quite get it sorry? I'm not picturing what you are saying.

I have had plenty of parts that are screwed into t nuts come loose...

#875 3 months ago

I'm curious. I have/had an issue where the top right pop bumper LED board lit up red on the bottom and never changed. Marty even said he'd send me a replacement which I've yet to receive. I have now seen in other's pictures the same issue: one in a for-sale post and one in post 864 above. I'm curious as to how many have had this crop up.

A couple weeks ago I received a new game so Fathom had to move. I left it unplugged until a couple days ago. When I plugged it in and turned it on, the pop bumper was no longer lighting red. I'm guessing unplugging the game for an extended period of time "reset" everything.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

#876 3 months ago

Sorry, yes all posts come loose. It would be a lot easier to tighten them if there were t nuts holding them under the playfield like most games, but as designed every post in this one has a nut on top and a nut below so it requires two tools and it’s a bit awkward to do.

Regardless, just looking for a manual so I can figure out which size hex keys to pick up so I can tighten them. Doesn’t seem to be any kind of manual so guess I’ll just pick up an entire set.

#877 3 months ago

Aaah, i understand. My Sterns have posts like that too though, not all but some.

#878 3 months ago

But your sterns posts are the same size as the hole. On the Haggis games the hole is a little bigger so the post has movement inside. Haggis advised me not to over tighten the posts.

The precision pinball bats are on sales?

#886 3 months ago

Question for those in the know:

Is the 2.0 code not complete? It feels really messy presently.

For the FATHOM letters at the top of the right apron LCD, for the life of me I can not qualify the lagoon entry. I even took the glass off and kept chucking the ball into the saucer over and over and over and the number remained at 3. Occasionally it goes to 2, but only once in a blue moon. Is this a hardware issue with my game? Does it rely on the star rollovers and maybe one is wonky? I have no idea what is supposed to happen when I collect all the Fathom letters, but in the present state I'll never find out.

Also: the mermaid battles are criminally same-ish. We have a spinner, 2 saucers, the target to the left of the right in-line drops... pop bumpers (I know, they boost oxygen)... and the only way to attack is the 1-2-3 targets and GB targets on the left side. It seems insane you can't be rewarded for hitting the 2 saucers.

Aside from that, the apron screens constantly cut out with glitches... flash frames of cut off black and freeze between between 2 halves of different UIs.... and last point.... why don't the LCD scoring displays count up with the bonus countdown like the OG fathom? Minor point, but it triggers me to only see it happening on the apron.

I watched a video that said "the player should discover things themselves", but not having an official 2.0 ruleset is kind of infuriating. When the spinner lights it's huge points, but I have no idea how to qualify it... it just happens randomly. The narrator tells me to hit the super jackpot in lagoon multiball, but doesn't actually tell you where the super jackpot is since 4 things are lit up. This all seems like pinball 101 and it's been ignored.

Final complaint... why the F is there no prop bar or service rail in this game? I mean c'mon. I know it's too late for that one since it's hardware, but it is super annoying and hopefully will be addressed in future games.

If anybody from Haggis reads this I'd love to get a reply. Love the game, but really hope there is more coming.

Cheers.

Check your star rollovers to make sure one or more aren't stuck. I have this issue, too. Collecting all FATHOM letters leads to a wizard mode.

It seems insane you can't be rewarded for hitting the 2 saucers.

You can earn a Mermaid bomb (I forgot what Marty called it.) by hitting the upper saucer, but this requires the rollovers to work. Then hit the extra ball target.

I also agree that the battles could be varied.

Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

I have had the same problem especially when I perform a slap save. I haven't tried to reset the HDMI cables on the video boards under the apron, but suspect it might help.

The right inlane lights the spinner.

Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

Crap. I am having trouble remembering if it's the scoop, or if it's the EB target after the scoop. It seems as though most supers or important shots are at the EB target.

Do what I did. Take the glass off and play a game by hand.

Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

Final complaint... why the F is there no prop bar or service rail in this game?

I so totally agree with this. Trying to work on the rollovers with the playfield completely vertical is a PITA. A prop bar would be most useful.

My stream with Marty in chat was most helpful, but I didn't learn everything at that time. Right now, I can't even play mine because the upper flipper just spins in the pawl and I can't tighten it enough to stop it.

For all my gripes about it, I still think the attention to detail and the build quality are top-notch and it's freaking gorgeous.

SKWilson Thanks brother!

I have one stuck rollover and two are not registering when I press down, looks like I'm gonna have to do some troubleshooting. Sounds like I should be in business once I fix the three star rollovers.

Really appreciate you taking the time to respond to all of this, SUPER helpful!!!!

Last request for the Haggis folks: instead of saying "shoot the super jackpot", it would be great for players to hear "shoot the ____ for super jackpot". Please and thank you

They can be adjusted by the three screws under the playfield to get them level.

Agreed. But, we're still only at .86, so hopefully by 1.0 the code will catch up to the beauty of the game itself!

You couldn’t put a single prop bar on this. The playfield is just too easy to twist. It would have to be on each side or one in the middle.

Do these have a keyed shaft?

The shafts are separate to the flippers (if you don't buy a kit) and you can use either if you buy the shafts, bushings and bats separately.
