I stopped trying to figure out punkin a while back. Just another colorful character in the pinball world who is entitled to his own opinions and I agree with more than disagree. That said, it did come as a surprise that the outspoken OP in the Mermaid owner's thread is out before even receiving his Mermaid and selling the Celts too. 26 games is a pretty big collection not to be able to make room. He knows what he wants and likes, so this says a more about the Haggis games than the person to me. I'm still patently waiting and plan to follow through and get my game, but frankly seeing this news made me go through yet another round of questioning and doubt of my Haggis purchase.

Selling a pre-order spot from any manufacturer long past due their own deadline, is as common as arguing on Pinside.

What are you, six years old?

On a brighter note...

Just paid for shipping today. Looks like I'll be getting my game soon. Woot! Woot!

Woot Woot! Maybe even keep it long enough to play it! She is a beaut I tell you. Hope it lands safely! It's been a long wait I'm sure.

Yes

It's a long wait to receive, but well worth it. Game is absolutely beautiful. I know it's crazy I think Haggis should actually charge more and only build a few at a time, it would keep up interest and people who pay when their spot is called would actually get game quickly, IMO

Quoted from Mr68:

I'm having very similar issues.
My problem is the fuse circled in red keeps blowing. (Fuse has been removed in picture)
Seems to blow after several hours even while sitting in attract mode. My tech talked to FAST and they suggested trying a size larger fuse, slow blow.
No good as it blew also.
Does anybody have a solution or ideas? -[quoted image]

Hey Kim! Not sure who your tech talked to at FAST, but nobody here recalls having this conversation. This would not have been a recommendation we would have made. I am can mention this to Damian when we talk next.

Our first thought would be that there is a shorted wire that may have rubbed through and is contacting a piece of metal. I would check wires pulled against metal points and see if that makes anything stand out.

Please reach out if nothing stands out.

I am one week into having this machine and this beauty is an absolute blast!! Couple very minor and easy to fix switch issues out of the box but other than that… excellent job Haggis!!!! I can’t wait to see what comes next!

New owners have anything to report?

Game freezes? Delays between balls? Flippers dying if you leave the game sitting for 15 to 20 minutes in game etc? Delays at end of game? Any other bugs? I’ve asked a few times and haven’t heard any responses. Ive had a plethora of problems which I’m told is code but don’t hear anyone else talking about their issues.

#818 5 months ago

Game freezes? None that are coming to mind.
Delays between balls? Maybe a second or two. Nothing that comes up on my radar as any kind of problem.
Flippers dying if you leave the game sitting for 15 to 20 minutes in game etc? I have not had this type of issue related to a time duration. Now, I would have to hit the flipper cabinet switches with a flexstone periodically. I just replaced them with the low voltage switches per the Zukram recommendation. I haven't had any issues since.
Delays at end of game? No.
Any other bugs? A misplaced voice call which they are aware of. I would imagine that will get sorted with next software update.

Hey, owners! How are y'all doing score-wise? She's been an ass-kicker, but she let me do some things tonight. I love this game! LOL

Hope I can play decently for Wednesday's stream.

Hi Folks, put about 1500 games on my Mermaid edition, and the upper right flipper both cracked and started to stick up. Looking at my other flippers it looks like all have at least small cracks diagonally across the pole. I am changing the leaf switches this week (and all the flippers), would that fix the issue? When I replaced the upper flipper today, it stuck up upon flipping until I tightened the hex nut way more than I expected to. My hope is that all of this is a result of the tungsten switches sort of overpowering the mechs, but wanted to see if anyone has any more info/ideas, etc. Thanks!

#822 4 months ago

i broke a flipper on Celts and yes you have to tighten more than you think. or change
to Precision Flippers, they're awesome

Set my Mermaid up on Friday and couldn't start a game. Something was up with the opto on the right saucer. Found a loose wire on molex connecting to the board and that was it!

This game is so good. Glad I took the plunge (pun intended). The care that went into shipping, all the small details and improvements really have me thinking about Centaur. Great job Haggis!!!

#824 4 months ago

I finally gave in and went with air shipping, didn't seem like the wait for LCL was going to be worth it (after waiting 2+ months). Game arrived in perfect shape, so I'm happy. Haven't had to adjust a single thing yet, just plug and play.

I've been playing the game for a couple of days now, and am really blown away! The quality and attention to detail is nuts on this game. The back of the cabinet, the bottom, the inside, the paint and decal application; all well beyond anything I've seen. The beveled glass, the layout of the wiring and components, the speaker setup, the chrome; I really feel like these guys deserve some major props.

I love that 80's code, but the 2.0 just takes this game to another level. I even like the (Aussie) speech, I was worried about it based on some of the comments, but it seems to work well within the game to me. Great job Haggis! If I had the money, I would 100% be in on a Centaur. Would look amazing side by side.

One of the guys here said the transparent blue plastic on flippers is perhaps more brittle. We had to replace all three with similar cracking .. Not sure if it has anything to do with power vs just the type of plastic in use..

Mermaid not booting up today. High pitched whine, but no lights or programmed sounds at all. Anyone experience this?

#827 4 months ago

What is the warranty from Haggis on a Fathom?

We've had issues with boot up previously, never had the high pitched whine though, just no lights, no sounds and black screens. Turned out to be connection issues, just had to reseat the connectors.

#829 4 months ago

Upon more thorough investigation it does seem to have been a loose connector. Not sure which one, just reseated everything I could find. Must have bumped something when adjusting the flipper angle yesterday.

Unboxing went real well last night. Too easy to unpack and set up, maybe 15minutes.
My number is 181 as 69 was taken ( if you know what i mean )
This big boys toy far exceeded my expectation and the 15 others who joined in the fun, I thought CELTS was great. Pfft.
Big cheers to Gary for the pulled pork rolls and Joe from Kids Just Wanna Have Fun Amusements for the venue.
I won't mention all the great things as there is just too many mention, so i will touch on the not so good.

1.It did have two freezes over the 7 or so hours it was played, a simple turn of then on fixed until I mention to Haggis.
2.The flipper bats suck, I will do what I did with other machines and change to Precision Flippers. The mechanism is fine.
3.The chrome front door is a little disappointing but still looks fantastic and i can see why the made this way.
4.I need to buy an expensive frame for the beautiful individually numbered poster explaining the theme.
5.I HAVE TO FIND MORE MONEY TO GET CENTAUR REVISITED.

one special note is that i didn't realise it has the genuine Bally sticker under playfield, nice nod to the manufacturer.

FANTASTIC job Haggis, proud to be made in Australia. Thankyou

Huh. I didn't know it was a 4 ball game. I guess the 2.0 code has a 4 ball multiball at some point?

Quoted from TreyBo69:

Huh. I didn't know it was a 4 ball game. I guess the 2.0 code has a 4 ball multiball at some point?

Guessing it's the Mermaid Treasure Wizard Mode, which I have not come close to reaching yet. Curious if anyone has fully spelled FATHOM or beat the MerQueen. I'm playing 3 ball with normal difficulty settings, but tempted to go to 5 and make goals easier to reach just to see. Currently maxing out around 2.5M and averaging about 500,000 on Revisited, most visiting pinball friends are more in the 250-350K range, but they of course haven't put 100s of games on it. Hard game, but so much fun.

#834 4 months ago

And now I have to know do you get a 4x playfield during that 4 ball multiball (or 5x? Flash the 2x and 3x playfield lamps)

Can you add a ball during a 2 or 3 ball MB?

#835 4 months ago

I think you can add a ball in Mermaid Multiball by sequentially shooting the 1/2/3 again, but not sure if it maxes at 3 balls. There is a temporary playfield multiplier available, but you start it by hitting the right stand up target when it's flashing (the light spinner and extra ball target on Classic), but this seems independent of modes and number of balls (I've only gotten it a couple of times, so not sure). The rules are very different and it's funny going from one to another as you'll have to reorder your shots significantly.

#836 4 months ago

Did anyone write up a comprehensive rule sheet for the 2.0?

Or a good video on it?

All I really know was there was some exploit where draining during a hurryup = huge points (but I think I heard it got patched)

#837 4 months ago

Been looking and haven't found one yet. I'm hoping the next update will also have an accompanying rule sheet, because I'm sure I don't know 20% or more of the finer points. There's a really long play video on youtube from Pride Pinball that allows you to see the apron screens during the game. Only watched about 10 minutes of it, but I'm going to see if I can get a better sense of the rules from that.

Thank you!! This is so helpful!

You get those by knocking down the green targets on the left and then hitting the saucer when the green arrow is lit. Definitely my favorite mode. The score display turns red during the mode.

#841 4 months ago

Thanks. I’m just really interested in what they did with the new rules

#842 4 months ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

The red column describes the Mermaiden Battles.

During the Mermaiden Battle:
All the drop targets do damage. (Health/Oxygen bars on left screen.)
A note on the pop bumpers and oxygen: Shoot the spinner to increase the amount of oxygen awarded at the pops. (The lights on top of the pops light up with the spinner. Cool effect.)
Shooting the lagoon via the top left rollover lights the EB target for a Sonar Bomb. Also 1-2-3 sequence.
Once the Mermaiden's health is gone, the final shot is the EB target. You have until your oxygen runs out to hit it. Once you hit the final shot, the cave escape begins (instructions on left screen). I think I've only finished a Cave Escape once, maybe twice.

The 2x playfield, I believe, is random. I think it will pop up either after defeating a Mermaiden or playing x Mermaiden Battles. The EB target and Double Score will flash for a brief time accompanied by a noticeable sound effect. Hit the target to start 2x playfield.

If the Lagoon saucer is flashing blue/white or the Cave saucer is flashing green/white, shoot the saucer to Hold Bonus.

2-6 weeks for what? Shipping to you? If that's the case fantastic, that is greatly reduced from what people have reported after making final payment.

Sounds to me that if he really is getting it in that timeframe, then someone ordered over 2 years ago, paid in full 20 or so weeks ago and pulled out a couple of weeks shy of receiving the machine. I haven’t heard of anyone getting their machine earlier than 25 weeks from full payment.
