Sadly, after hours and hours of consideration, that is what made me decide to not include SM in a long term line up. I LOVE the game, it just wasn't challenging. I am having the same problem with JM. When I get either LOTR or (maybe) AFM back, hopefully the challenge level comes back up.
I know AFM isn't really considered challenging, it is just do DANG FUN!
