Was in the Wisconsin north woods this weekend and found a couple pins in the Minocqua area. By the go-carts and mini golf there is a Jackbot. Friday night we stopped in a bar for a fish fry and they had a Sopranos. There was a guy playing it who I later found out had all the high scores. I stopped to look as I walked by as I had never seen that machine before. He looks over with a big smile and said, "I bet you haven't played pinball in a long time". I told him not since yesterday, I have 13 of them in my basement. He looked a little shocked. He wanted to know if I owned a vending company and who repaired all of them and so on. Next time I will make sure I have time to knock some of his high scores off. Game was set up really slow. We did end up having a nice conversation but still not sure if he believed me.

My inlaws have a timeshare in minocqua that we will be using this fall. Please clue me in on the locale of that Jackbot, if you'd be so kind. I promise not to try to buy it.

My son and I were at a bowling alley and there was a TAF there and another kid was looking at the game and he asked my son if he had played it and he said no, the thing hand is broken and we have one at home I can play for free.
Well the kid starts calling him a liar then the dad gets into the act and says we can see if he is lying or not and coins the game up.
Josh says go ahead I will play last.
After dad and kid drain Josh says I think I will tour the mansion and is casually pointing out the shots as he smokes their scores.
On the second ball dad steps up, looks at his kid and says I think we are in trouble here son, I think you owe this boy an apology.
Josh said that's okay mister everybody makes mistakes.

Man I am a sucker for little 'interest' stories like this. Great stuff. I usually feel embarrest to tell randoms that I have a few pins at home. I guess I’m scared that they might think I am boasting. But to tell you the truth it’s not often I get to play anything on location anyway. If I think about it I have only seen and played 2 pins in the wild since I started my collection, started more out of necessity than convenience.

Hey I was up there a couple of weeks ago and saw probably the same guy playing that sopranos I had a couple of drinks waiting to play when he was finished with his game. Saw him win a free game and I decided to move on. found r&b taf dm and jb and added them to the pin map

Great stories,I understand the fear of letting someone know you have a collection(fear of boasting),but I love sharing my excitement of the game. I tell people that I buy ,fix up and sell pinball machines,I just haven't got the selling part down yet!

That go-cart track has been there forever! We were up there years ago waiting in line for the carts and a guy pulled a cart out of the mechanics shed and put it first in line and walked away. I was 1st in line and was half in the bag. I saw the throttle cover was left off, so I kinda acted like I was looking it over and reached down and bent the throttle limiter back. Needless to say I was quite faster than the rest and hit one of the corners too fast and spun it. I ended up facing the wrong way and said screw it and started going after my buddies forcing them off the track. I had three track employees trying to chase me down on foot and they couldn't keep up. First and only time I have been escorted out of a go-cart/mini golf facility.

When you are coming into Minocqua there is a complex on the right side of the road with two mini golf courses, 3 go-cart tracks, horseback riding, and an ice cream shop with arcade. Park outside the arcade, walk to the north end of the complex and go into the horse barn. Ask for Ed. He will tell you where to find Jackbot.

I don't look at it as bragging when I tell someone I have pinball machines. Most people just think we are freaks and wouldn't want them in their house anyway. When it is a pinball person, I would hope that they would be interested. This guy certainly was. When I see a collection much nicer than mine I don't get jealous. I use it as an opportunity to evaluate other games and decide if I would like to find one or not. Some people buy fast cars with their money and some buy cigs and beer. We just happen to spend out spare cash on pinball. I see it as more matter of fact than boasting. Besides that I work hard for my money, I am not ashamed that I own a few toys. Ok, maybe more than a few.

Back in the day, you could find about 2 dozen pins in the Dells area, between Noah's Ark (they had a KISS on route), Pinbot, Space Shuttle and many others I remember around the downtown area. Now I think they have 3 in the Dells.

WI used to be great for pinball.

It still is if you are in the right basements. Was nice when you could find more in the wild.

WI has lot's coin pushers that pay quarters.

For the dells Moosejaw has some (newer games) and I have a funny story I was there and some had a stake that was sizzling so much that it set off the fire alarm and as a joke I yelled out free food.
