anybody got a pin2dmd file for Gnr they want to share?

#252 7 years ago
Quoted from xsonics2k2:

I have been looking for a video that shows a machine with and without Pinsound to understand the difference in audio quality. The only videos I can find are ones with modified music.

Not sure that would be of any value; stock GNR audio files run through PinSound wouldn't sound appreciably different than the sound from a fully-stock GNR.

The stock GNR audio samples are terrible, and other than the ability to control volume/bass/treble of the backbox and cab independently, PinSound won't do anything to improve them - garbage in, garbage out.

#253 7 years ago

standart VGA mode, haven`t done my own palette yet, since i can`t get the editor working....

if anyone should have a palette they want to share i would be thankful

That makes sense, thanks.

Is there a pinsound upgrade with the original songs / sound effects?
Thanks,

I've had some issue with my El wire on my ramps coming off... I had originally used silicon but that looked pretty rough as the caulk was visible... then went to double sided Scotch tape which looked great (transparent and couldn't see that there was actually anything visibly as an adhesive) but the wires have started sagging.
I'm trying to figure out a good adhesive that is lasting yet won't be visible so obviously without resorting to drilling the ramps such as with Tron.

How did you mount the buckle?

#260 7 years ago

I really like the yellow GnR's belt buckle there. Is the price approx 4lbs or Euro's?. Is that about $6? plus shipping?

Including shipping around USD 8-9

The one from Ali express looks the same and is cheaper eg shipping is free of charge

Great Thanks guys!

Perhaps rubber contact cement and a few zip ties in areas where gluing would be visible no matter what?

Could you drill out the roses and put the lights through them?

Interesting idea but I think I like the roses to much. but I can see people trying it, why not. Just order 2 pcs drill one out if you don't like it use the other one. It's only a few dollars after all

#269 7 years ago

Ali site saying no longer avail. Stractch that. Now there are 200 avail. ?????

Has anyone replaced any of the rubber posts or rubber (ie posts, slings, etc) in GNR? If so, are these the 1 1/16" inch version as sold on Pinballlife.com?
I'm considering swapping out the standard white and black for some colors but would like to hear/see some ideas as to what people have done.

#271 7 years ago

They are. In the manual it is listed as part#545-5308-00 which fits to the desription of pinball life. Haven't changed them yet but will do a complete rubber replacement soon and probably will go for coloured ones too, that (hopefully) match to the red/yellow of the ramps.

I think white rubbers with some colored sleeves look good

See

#273 7 years ago

From now on, I only offer these while I have them in hand and ready to go, because I hate getting backed up on them.

I have 4 Riot signs- $28 with shipping (laminated front, cut wood, metal base, mounts anywhere easily in seconds)

I have ONE Skull topper $125 with shipping. (all wood material, stands in base, command strips not included but recommended for mounting)

pm me if you're interested,
thanks, James

Thought the bumper lights would be bright enough to light up the upper playfield, so I connected the spots to the eject switch that starts the guitar feature. Used a relay to handle the DC/AC level. Did a little bending to the spot carriers to keep Slash in the focus during Sweet Child. Guess I will put some super bright LEDs in soon...

It's just an easy thing to do, however the skill shot of course is not switched yet. This will obviously require a logical data processing from the CPU. Anyway, as a start I'm quite happy with the electromechanical solution.

Bought myself at a garage sale 2 revolvers for USD 0,50. Time to make a USD 10 dollar mod of it with some spray paint and fake roses

I like that far better than any of the aftermarket toppers - nice job!

The one bit I'd work on - the attitude of the guns. Maybe get some clear acrylic and make some supports to place under the barrels, so the guns could be oriented horizontally as per the logo. (Or some simple L-brackets fastened on the back side of the handles, so they wouldn't be visible.)

Very nice job! I prefer my laseriffic topper but amazing what you did with a little spray paint. Looks really nice . I agree with blackjacker that you may want to take another look at the guns positions.

#279 7 years ago

I had the first trial positioned straight as you both mentioned but that just didn't look so good. The composition down just looked better, especially with the roses in place.

In real life it looks better as on picture, LEDs just difficult to photograph

So yep, beauty above all

Hey guys I'm still looking for a set of plastics, if anyone has a complete set they would like to sell please PM me. Rock on

#281 7 years ago

I just swapped out my bumper rubber to match the G and R ramps. However, on the yellow G ramp, it appears that the previous owner had changed the post on the right ramp entry bumper and I'd prefer that the posts match. Can anyone provide some insight as to why someone might change it out and if it were perhaps broken can replaced with an alternate, could I use a duplicate of the left bumper so they are paired?
In the pictures:
1st picture - shows the "hole" in the playfield
2nd picture - shows the oddball larger diameter sleeve that fits over the oddball post.
3rd picture - the original left post of the left ramp is pictured without the rubber. Is this part 530-5127-00?
Should the oddball post be replaced with 530-5127-00?

Had the same issue. Apparently they break easy and are not made anymore

Replaced it with http://www.ministryofpinball.nl/nl/bumper-post-8-32.html

Frankly speaking didn't check the manual. Just looked for a post which looked the same at the others

#283 7 years ago

notorious for breaking, don't make that size anymore. just buy one similar from pinball life and drill playfield out just a touch for it to fit.

That's what I did. My post was also replaced with a "whatever was in the parts box" repair... it was one of the first things to be fixed.

#285 7 years ago

Talked to Terry at Pinballlife and he said this would be the equivalent replacement.... any opinions?

yep ... that's what i used about a year ago when mine broke ..... had to drill out the hole a little bit but to be honest until i saw your post Id completely forgotten i had done it .... its not noticeable at all to me ... ill look again when i get off work tonight

Thats and interesting idea Alex ...nice job =) would be interested in seeing it after you add the super brights! ...... can you also figure out a way to put a switch on the launch ramp so that multi-ball wont launch another ball until each ball clears the ramp and eliminating balls getting backed up and stuck ???

#288 7 years ago

Ok, so I guess you have already selected coils strength to "hard" in the adjustment menu. Then, if replacing the coil to a stronger type (e.g. 090-5023-01) and adding a diode doesn't help, you should try to lower the main shooter rail at the back-board, see lower pic here...
http://www.flippermarkt.de/community/howto/cms/pages/bauanleitungen/abschuss-optimieren-gunsn-roses.php?searchresult=1&sstring=gnr#_x0000_i1025

I had the same problem with weak coils which I solved by replacing the (weak) varistor Z1 on the power board that grounds the 34V power supply. I replaced it with an S14K30 (see pic) which finally resulted in stronger coils in my case...Good luck!

Will post a vid of the Guitar Feature spot with super brights on the weekend (still on a business trip)

Here's the Guitar Feature Mod with super brights. I put the right spots to the level of Shlash's head to light up the figure entirely...

Quoted from nodder:

How does one add a diode to a coil and what type of diode would that be? Could someone explain what exactly the diode would do to increase the coil strength?

#291 7 years ago

You should not forgot to add the diode in case you replace the coil. Diode itself doesnt improve the coil pulse. But in my case the varistor on the Power Board worked, see #288

#292 7 years ago

So, how does replacing that varistor work to improve coil strength?

#293 7 years ago

I replaced the varistor rather since F5 on the PSB suddenly was blowing permanently. However, the new varistor helped for a stronger coil pulse. Without knowing the exact correlation I assume that a bad varistor changes its resistance beyond its spec. Since Z1 grounds the 34V coils, the "pulse" voltage potential might be not what it should. Just a guess...

This thread is full of awesome.
Had to go out and put a real gun handle on my GNR pin after reading some of these posts.
Found this one online and thought it was perfect.
Modified it with a belt sander and put it on this evening.
Thanks for the good tips guys.
