Quoted from BackFlipper:

Does anyone know if there is a "radio function" on this game? Something where you can play the music even if you are not playing the game?

Not quite a freebie radio mode but it sounds like there is (or is going to be) a Jukebox mode where you start the game and choose a single song. From there it's a timed mode for the length of the track to score as much as possible in that time, then your game ends. Haven't heard much more than that, Eric mentions it in one of the interviews. Love the concept, particularly if each song has it's own custom mode/rules.

Quoted from Joe_Blasi:

and they cloned that from stern ac/dc

Hmm, had an AC/DC and don't recall a timed game. Guess I missed that.

If someone was on a waitlist, it sucks but no harm no foul. But if someone actually put money down, JJP or the distributor needs to do something to make that right. When someone puts a deposit down, they stop looking.

Quoted from Dan1733:

So the concert footage on the display is synched to recorded songs? I assume the songs live as they are being performed on the video shown?

The studio versions of the songs were overlayed on the concert video and synced up by hand. JP's brother did it is what Eric or Keith said in one of the videos.

Just finished the Buffalo stream, some random thoughts. I see where folks are coming from when they say you'll appreciate it exponentially more if you're a than a casual GnR fan. I wouldn't say I was an AC/DC fan but I loved that pin for a time. I think either Joe or Keith said this was the perfect game for 'tournament players' or something like that, there are many many layers to the scoring and goals. The light show is nuts of course. I haven't seen the band on-stage (on TV, I was 10) since the 80's so it's jarring to see current Axl out there jumping around, definitely not the Axl you remember from MTV

Looks like a fun a game, but my interest in owning is waning a wee bit. I listened to so much GnR as a teenager, I may have burnt myself out

But if you have remained or are still a GnR fan, congratulations, JJP crushed it!

Typically a game has lots of flow, or lots of toys/mechs that kill flow or somewhere in between. From those that have played it, where does this one fall? Just based on watching streams, it doesn't seem to have much of either, am I seeing it wrong?

#2428 3 years ago

Personally, I think some kind of PinStadium can help any machine, particularly if played in a dark room. But if I get a GnR at some point I don't think I'd consider it. It's big toy is essentially the lights and lightshow and I wouldn't want to mess with that.

Plus DE got sued for having a cartoon likeness of a band member on it back in the day, much less video. I wouldn't think those 80's videos are as legally airtight as the new stuff. What I thought they might do is emphasize the closeups of Axl less, like show more of those wide sweeps and closeups of pretty much anyone else. The little hottie-mc-hot-pants teaser didn't show much Axl, thought the game would do the same. But hell, he's the lead singer so what're you gonna do?

I shouldn't talk too much though, wasn't looking forward to seeing my big face up there either.

They should have had it tested by 6 members of the Pinball Media before ever considering releasing it. The Pinball 6 would have shut that down.

Quoted from zaphX:

Isn't that exactly what prototypes are for? At least, pre-internet.
Put them out somewhere, gather wear/reliability/play data?

That's what they used to do. It was always exciting to get the spy shots of the new games from the guys in Chicago who knew where those games went. But as you allude to that was early internet days, now they don't do that and I think games suffer a bit from no field testing.

Quoted from zaphX:

Repeat after me:
THE NEW MICRO PLAYFIELDS ARE NOT CALLED SPECTRUM PLAYFIELDS.

Ha. At this point Mirco would be smart to now brand them that way.

Quoted from zaphX:

I really need a new hobby, or at least a better community.

"Little patience, mm yeah, mm yeah
Need a little patience, yeah
Just a little patience, yeah
Some more patience, yeah (I've browsing Pinside at night)"

#4831 3 years ago

I think he was asking about Mirco's new patented 'Spectrum' branded clearcoat process.

I think the pooling is art adhesion with digital printing. Look at the Sterns where they don't have art around posts. No pooling. Also, no pooling on CGC which use silk screening. It's not the clear.
