That CE is Pinball Porn!!!!

How does someone with a Cheech Marin Avatar down vote a Pinball Porn Reference.

#5202 3 years ago
Quoted from Kiwipinhead:

Thanks mate, I have an LE on order, did you make it in on the first shipment?

The first shipment will either be 33 or 66 games depending on how many get made .
Either way I wouldn't be able to get 1 .
But I'm not in a rush , I have to sell a game first .

I'm trying to think of another product where you place an order with money down... the remainder of the bill is somewhere in the nieghborhood of $9.5K... and the manufacturer provides zero communication about (1) when your product *might* be ready and (2) when you'll be asked to fork over nine to ten grand. Throw on top of that the prospect of reported manufacturing defect on a part of the game.

It really makes begin to question the level of business aptitude of the folks that are running the show. None of this makes any sense.

This time last year I bought a new car. The car had to be built. Yes, it took about 6 weeks for the car to be delivered, but the manufacturer provided me with updates. In fact, I could log in to its website, see an estimated arrival date (which was a range of about 7 days) AND I had status updates as to where the car was in the product process.

Rather mind blowing that JJP can't have the courtesy to – at the minimum – provide some sort date range for delivery so the buyer can prepare to have money ready. Is that too much to ask? The software needed to pull something like that off is available. This is not rocket science... but, geesh, some pinball manufacturers act as if they're operating in the stone age.

We have been watching on JJP Facebook for the last 2 + weeks they have been manufacturing LE's after a short run of SE's that are now out in the wild and delivered.

To keep round numbers, lets say they have now had 10 days manufacturing (from initial assembly to "in the box" ready) at a rate of 12 machines /day (60 per week which more or less lines up with previous commentary on their build capacity).

So there are now likely 100-120 new LE's boxed and ready to go - do we agree so far?

Those machines continue to get pumped out so by the end of this week it should be more than 150 units ready.

Where are they? Sitting at JJP warehouse? Aren't they trying to push them out the door as fast as they make them or are they stockpiling for one massive shipping event? Rumors have suggested many distributors are all getting a "small allotment" from this production run. Anyone have a ship date yet? anyone confirmed to be along for the ride on this production run? Does JJP direct ship games or only ship to distributors who then have to ship from their location to buyers? One would think that with this much production happening (per Facebook) that we would at least be hearing about people getting confirmed ship dates by now?

#5213 3 years ago
Quoted from Dkjimbo:

Does JJP direct ship games or only ship to distributors who then have to ship from their location to buyers?

I ordered an LE directly from JJP about three weeks ago because my local JJP distributor never returned the 5 phone calls I made to him. When I called JJP to place my order, the salespeople (Michael and when I called back a second time Jen) tried to convince me to buy from a distributor. I explained that I had no confidence in a distributor who didn't return phone calls. So they took my order, but explained that I probably wouldn't get the game until next May. I was fine with that because it allows me more time to save up for it (I made a $1000 deposit) and I felt that it gave JJP more time to fix the playfield issues so that hopefully my game would be free of those errors. They also said that they would be able to ship the game from the factory directly to me, but shipping would likely cost me more than if I got it from a distributor. I was fine with that too because, like I said, I have no confidence in the distributor for my area. I don't know the answers to the rest of your questions, but I can at least say that JJP does ship games directly to customers.

You've never been in on a new highly in demand car release?

Put a deposit down... get a promise that you have an allotment spot... wait.. wait... wait... get told various stories by your dealer... then start hearing woes from other reviewers or first deliveries.. and eventually be told your car's ETA.. and then you hope its without flaws.

They've gotten better in recent years... but this is not new or unique.

Heck, look at Telsas... same thing.

Yes and No....smaller deposit on a larger purchase price....$100 down on a $100K vehicle is a little different + Tesla will provide an estimated delivery date.....I'm a fan of gas guzzlers, but several of my buddies order those cars yearly. Teslas are a dime a dozen around my neck of the woods. There is no excuse for JJP not communicating to its customer base.

Good point. This isn't typical behavior towards consumers, tho.

You make some excellent points. However even with all those issues, knowledgeable pinsiders are still putting down deposits and supporting this egregious behaviour. Why should the manufacturers change when there is a ton of demand for their product? Stern supposedly has a 5000 game backlog.

What I find mind boggling is people are continuing to complain about defective playfields but are still buying nib games. These playfield issues have been around for years now. Buying a nib is akin to playing a lottery but with a much steeper entry fee.

To each his own I suppose......

The lottery analogy is terrible. Even if your game has bad playfield issues it will work fine and be fun. Some people enjoy playing pinball more than examining it with a magnifying glass. The only downside is a 10% or so hit to resale value.

10% loss? I wouldn't buy a pin second hand if it had PF issues, unless it was a deep discount or had a pf as part of the sale.

PS5s dont cost 10 gs and can be returned to Walmart. Literally nothing to do with pins lol. Unless you are a baller and 10gs is the same as $500. Life goals!!

Your point... if you're trying to make one makes no sense whatsoever. My post makes no reference to liking or disliking JJP games... I have owned all except a DI and I have an LE gnr on order. Just stating a fact about current pf issues that they have been around for a while now and its hit n miss what you get regardless of when you order it. You've checked my wish list more than I have in recent years lol thanks is in order though... I need to update it as I have a hobbit...

What i do dislike is their current Qc on playflields and JJP along with stern need to be called out. Doesn't mean I hate the games or the company as such.

Tesla. Depending on what you order, the deposit is between $100-250k and you may have to wait for years. I personally have paid $1k deposits and waited just shy of two years. Annoying, but worth it. I’ll never own a gas car again.

Funny, I just replied with the same example having just read your reply.

#5238 3 years ago

I'm sorry to hear the frustration with timing and playfield concerns, but no denying the pin looks sweet. There's a number of us sitting on the fence waiting a year or more for a used one to hit the market. That way I'll know what I'm getting. Once all are out in the wild they "should" be available resale. Personally if there's some pooling around a post with a washer it doesn't bother me, but I totally understand at the price point it shouldn't continue to be an issue. But many have said, this isn't new and JJP games have all been successes from a design standpoint. Can't think of a pin they've made that's bad. I'd take any one in their lineup. Can't wait to get my hands on a GnR. Good luck to all those who ordered. Hope u get them soon and without issues.

I was constantly on the tesla owners club forum from 2012 to about 2016/7. At that point I couldn't handle it anymore. You're right, there are similarities. I frequent pinside far less; arguably, a healthier amount . Now back to GNR...

Playing DI alot and not really caring about GNR LE lead times.

Very aware it's Covid now so understanding it's going to take more time than normal.

Relax people you all have other titles to play while you wait.

Update from my dist (in the states):
“We will have JJP build to your request for the 230v version so it arrives ready to rock! Word is they are building before the holidays, so we should get it on the way to you soon.”
This is in regards to a CE. So lets hope the word is true. I’ll still have a month before it reaches my shores once it’s ready

with all the complaints and issues with playfields and the rise of the Cost of the game which went into profit mostly should be put back into the Game being if the QC inspector sees any issues at the time of putting it in the box , just send another unpopulated playfield in the box and call it a day. hell even w/o problems every NIB game from Stern or JJP should just include extra Playfields from the get go.. Problem solved unless your Playfield extra is crap and that would be stupid for the QC inspector to send out the Backup with issues .
why not give every GNRce/le owner a spare PF at that price of 12,500 i do not see why they cant ,even at the 6500SE price include the extra PF .Fuuug it!!

What distributor?

Distributors are not selling games in the order they were taken. Distros take care of their repeat and good customers first and then everyone else second. I'm not saying that's what's happening here, just that one persons shipment may not represent when someone else gets their game.
