Quoted from thechakapakuni:

Yeah. Try adjusting it while in play. I know will disable some things but curious if it has an effect when it drops out.

It does not . I can hear like a louder buzzing through the speaker , which means it does actually adjust the volume . But no sounds come back. They seem to only come back when i power off and on some times or take it into test mode

Try disconnecting reconnecting all the connections on the sound board

Just tried that . None seemed loose but I reset all of them and so far we haven’t had the sound drop out.

Well. Maybe it’s time to get that Pinsound Plus sound board. You’re going to most likely be fixing this board considering you’ve done everything short of working on the board. It’s well worth it for this pin and you will have the ability to add any/all GNR songs

Totally agree with this

The Pinsound boards do have a lifetime warranty. But I think the original owner would need to request the repair. It is not transferable.

EDIT - looks like they reduced the terms to 24 months now. Oh well.

#2307 2 years ago

I don’t think they have an issue with a pinsound, they have an issue with the stock sound card. I suggested instead of fixing/repairing the original get a Pinsound instead

Just joined the club yesterday! But him having a problem with the balls. When I turn it in it says missing ball (but it’s not) and at the start of each round it shoots out 2 balls. Any idea why?

Ball trough switches are probably acting up. Pretty common.

These are highly recommended if the problem persists. If you plan to keep the game for a while, might be worth the investment:

Those with Pinsound on their GnR, just finished my first version of the All LIVE tracks orchestration. The live tracks were taken from various tours and concerts. It can be downloaded from this link. If there are any live tracks you think are better quality or songs I should add, please PM me.

Now you don't need to buy the JJP version as you have a live orchestration Let me know what you think. Cheers.

Yup & quite of few inserts are off centered also.

A guy a PM regarding lollipop side rails.
I used ones from an ac/dc . They fit bit the glass channel Is lower than it should be.

Pinball life ones would probably work but as you can see from a checkpoint the flipper button holes do not line up perfectly.

+2 on that. I’d actually take the worn out paint around the flippers over this. It looks like a chastity belt for flipper buttons. I think somebody had some nice engraved ones somewhere back in this thread. I’d look at those instead

That was me but mine are custom done in Australia. Not sure of the shipping costs for rails to the USA

jup, looks very nice.... doesn`t even cover the sideart...

although it needs a little adjustment at the cutout by the leg.....but way,way better then the other solution....

damn, i think i would have backlighted that GnR logo somehow...

BTW nevermind the shippingcost, just give us the cuttingfiles

#2323 2 years ago

Here is how it was originally done in raw. Then I had them powdercoated black. You’d have to cut into the cabinet I guess for a lighted option, I just painted that section red under (thought that was better than say white)
Yea it’s slightly back from the very front of the cabinet but I don’t have the original files to send you. Was made by Pinsider Railways but he hasn’t been on here for about 3 years

Recently picked up a GNRS!
Started doing a playfield tear down and acquiring new parts to put back on it - Ramps, drop targets, plastics etc.
Anyone able to help with the correct placement of my new drop target decals?
Cheers

So it’s 2,3,2 on the left bank and 3,2,3 on the right bank

Mine are the opposite Chaka and were like that on the original flyer. But I’m anal and wanted them the same. They were also that way when I got the machine.
It really doesn’t matter though. Someone had album covers instead which looked pretty cool

Do you have the flyer you are referring to? Every pin I’ve seen and videos shows them in order the way they are on the pics I posted. Also the numbers are in order putting them the way mentioned wouldn’t make sense. It goes Left 6,7,8 then Right 9,10,11

Next question folks...
Does the ball stop above the VUK normally have a rubber foam pad attached?
To soften the rebound and protect ball damage.
Or simply just as shown?
Thanks

Not sure but I’d put one there, it would hurt since your there. Also Cliffy make a protector Mylar for that area as well

#2333 2 years ago

Add-a-member scoop on mine looks just like that. Nothing out of the ordinary. You can hit it full power and it doesn’t rattle out or anything. FWIW, as long as it kicks to the VUK, I wouldn’t worry about it. YMMV.

I just went in last night and installed the M&M Creations MRS switch for the snake pit bowl in the rear left of the game. I couldn’t remember how many ball revolutions i got in the bowl before with the mechanical switch, but from going to a magnetic reed switch now, i can get between 3 to 4 switch hits when it swirls around in the bowl.

The switch is customized based on the dimensions of the bowl. As can be seen in the picture, I put my MRS just to the left of where the original mechanical switch used to be. I only took out the 2 screws holding the snake pit bowl ramp in and was able to squeeze my hand in there to install the MRS.

After the installation, you might be able to get more hits in the bowl if you put it a bit more to the left, near the exit from the ramp that feeds into the bowl. However, it may more consistently register “5” hits with a full shooter rod pull versus where i have it where it could either be “3” or “4” hits. You may want to experiment and play around with what you like before applying it with the adhesive.

Thanks for the testimonial Rush - after making contactless MRS' for CFTBL, Transpor, Mustang, Taxi, Diner, JY & Cactus Canyon - we thought we nailed all of the switch-in-bowl applications - until we realized the GNR snakepit was another....so now(??) we think we have all of these types of solutions covered....all bowl MRS' are $30/unit plus $5 shipping - just PM me if interested!

Can I ask what size metal hex spacers are used between the plastic and the clear plastic protectors?
Installing a brand new set which includes these 2 pieces.
Your photos have been great to show me where they are placed.
Thanks in advance

If you’re referring to the Pinbit protectors for the playfield plastics the original plastics lay right on top, no spacers. I sometimes put washer below and/on top where the nut fastens as it distributes the load better, but no required

No these 2 clear plastics that I can located either side near the drop targets.
They weren’t on my machine originally.
Looks like they have hex spacers between them and the plastic below.
Cheers

Might be a silly question but does anyone have a spinner in their GNR?
Maybe it’s a prototype thing? Would love to know where it was

Huh…

Never seen that before, “BUT”, if I had to guess, the right orbit for Slash solo loops.

That said, I love spinners, but GNR doesn’t feel like it’s missing anything with a lack of one. DE seemingly stuck everything (including the kitchen sink) in their games back during this era, and it usually just muddled up the gameplay. To me, GNR is one of the few DE games that doesn’t suffer from that…

Marco sells that image as part of a sticker set for GnR. Would be cool to find out where it originated on a prototype machine.

What’s on the other side? I assume Marco has both sides of the spinner in their set?

I haven't worked on a DE pin ever before, although a friend needs all the drop targets replaced on his GNR.

Is this a straight forward job ? How long should this take me ?

thanks, Steve

I replaced mine. Just follow the wires back from it and disconnect them. Should come from a Z connector. You might have to cut a few zip ties but easy to add new ones when you are done. Then remove the whole drop target mech which is only 4 screws. It will be easy to swap once it’s out.

#2350 2 years ago

With long needle nose pliers (or small hands) you don't even need to drop the mech to replace the targets; when the transfer bar is at rest, the bottom of the targets can be slid out. YMMV on which method is quicker for you.
