That's a cool story Woody~! Sure would be neat to know the full history behind that gun. I have a 12 gauge single shot that was passed down from my father. It's nothing special, but now that my dad has passed, I cherish it. It was the first gun I ever shot. I was a skinny kid and I remember it almost knocked me down.
As we all know, gun ownership comes with a huge responsibiliity to educate everyone in the house about gun safetly, and to live by the four rules of gun ownership. I have a 15 year old daugher, and an 11 year old son. They both enjoy going to the range with me. Here's an older pic of my daugher at an indoor range - she's a damn good shot.

For daily carry, I rely on my S&W M&P Shield (9mm). I will try to post a pic of it later. For now, here is a pic of a cute little .22 rimfire that my son loves to shoot. It looks cool, and has a decent red dot scope. It is also small enough for him to easily handle, and of course there is almost zero recoil. I think I spent about $100 for it.

Has anyone here had the opportunity to use a thermal imaging scope? OMG! We were at a friends ranch and his house overlooks a field - set up a predator call in the middle of the field, then had dinner and waited... started the call around 9:00pm. It was PITCH BLACK outside, but with that thermal imaging scope you could see clear as day. Saw a couple foxes and a few other varments. Didn't hit anything as we were well over 200 yards, and I'm not 100% sure the scope was sighted in at that distance. But regardless, just the experience of seeing through that scope at night was awesome for me.

Been a while since I posted here, so.....
I got a great deal on a Bushmaster X10 .308 - set it up as my deer huntin' rifle.
My .223 is set up for hogs.
And I've been participating in some 'steel plate challenges', so I've been trying out a red dot on one of my Glock's.

Both! I was very impressed with the accuracy of the Garand - good grouping on target at 100yrds. The service grade Garand came with a very nice new walnut stock with the CMP cartouche. The field grade came with a new hackberry stock that I replaced with a vintage Springfield stock I got off e-bay.

Here's a pic from our recent trip to the range - fired the .223, the M1 Garand and the 308 with suppressor. My brother in-law was sponsoring an exchange student from Paris, France - and he asked if we could go shooting. Well HELL YEAH we can! After making sure he understood the four rules of gun safety, I brought out a good portion of the arsenal - pistols and long guns. We spent a couple hours punching holes in paper. He said it was one of the most amazing things he's done, and took lots of pics and vids to show his friends back home. Of course, his parents warned him against posting any of those pictures on-line because evidently this kind of fun is frowned upon over the pond.

It was another beautiful day at the range. I picked up a nice BYF 43 K98. It's accurate as hell - hitting good groupings at 100yrds with iron sights. The only downside for me was the recoil - that wood stock was smackin' my face pretty hard, so I put a cheek rest on it.
Oh, and that STG is a 22LR remake. For less than $300, I couldn't pass it up.

Spent some time building a backstop for my 300 yard target using some old telephone poles. I've been alternating shooting 'em with my .308 Ruger Precision Rifle and the .308 AR10. Only problem was when I'd forget to swap out the suppressor when not wearing ear protection. BOOM! ...and now my ears are ringing for the next hour.
