My youth Remington 20g pump my son used when he was younger kicked harder or about equal to my 12g Stoeger semi-auto. A lot of it has to do with the weight of the gun. Not sure what you mean too weak. If for home defense, definitely not. I believe that youth Remington is probably my best home defence gun.

I've never shot a side by side, but back in the day that was what people used instead of over/under. Looks like a short barrel, so it depends on what type of clays.
