I have a couple of my personal favorites to share.
My Great, Great Uncle's Winchester pump .22 (bought in 1903), my Uncle's Ruger 22/45, and my favorite CZ (452 Trainer). I'm a target guy more than anything. I get the buzz shooting sub MOA groups.

Quoted from dmbjunky:

I love that Winchester pump .22

It's a dream to shoot also. My Grandpa learned to shoot with it. His uncle would religiously clean it before his squirrels and rabbits. It had a little rust on the butt plate but otherwise is very mint.

Quoted from Travish:

How about ranges? You have to have somewhere safe to shoot.

I am building a house and right next to it is an old washed out pond. I will have to clear several small trees and bush hog but I will have up to 75 yards with the old dam to shoot against. The property itself is over a hundred acres. I can't wait.

These are my real tack drivers:
Savage 10fp and custom CZ455.

Quoted from Shredso:

Most of my stuff is either common or fairly inexpensive but I'll play along because I like this thread.
S&W M&P Shield- Awesome everyday carry
S&W SD9VE- Trigger was awful out of the box, might be a MA compliant thing. Just put an Apex trigger and spring kit in, feels great. Haven't fired it since the modification[Image/post mismatch].

Hi Point 4595- Limited in MA what we can buy. This was cheap and it's fun to shoot. Seems reliable and accurate so far.
S&W M&P 15-22- I wanted the straight up M&P 15 but the laws changed the week I was purchasing with no notice. This is a lot of fun to shoot. I bought a new sight for it, can't wait to try it.

Remington 742 Woodsmaster 30-06 Rifle
Remington 1100 Semi Auto Shotgun
Both of these were inherited hunting weapons. I haven't fired them yet. I bought all the cleaning tools and a blueing kit. Not sure how far I will go with the restore. I'm not much of a hunter.

In the market for a simple .22 rifle to teach the kids on. I promised them a rifle when they turn 10 next year. Looking at a compact revolver, maybe the S&W Bodyguard or 742. I was thinking about a more home defense shotgun, Mossberg 500 18.5. And possibly a .22 pistol for fun. This is just as bad as pinball machines and guitars....

I'm probably trading a CZ 452 American this week. For the money you would be hard pressed to find a more accurate.22 rifle. I own two more CZs. They are all tack drivers.

Quoted from Travish:

Not me. Mine is good old mid 60's American. I got some really cool west German field phones somewhere too.

We were going through my uncle's old stuff the other day and found a kit just like yours. I also found my great grandfather's old pocket transistor radio.

I trade pins for guns and vice-versa. Just saying.

Wish you were closer!

Finally got to shoot out to 500 yards last week and consistently shot MOA. Had such a blast. It was a rush hearing that steel ring from way out there!

Quoted from Fulltilt:

What’s your weakness? For me it’s the lever guns. I love them. This Winchester mod 92 in 38-40 is a blast to shoot.
[quoted image]

I love lever guns. I recently put peep sights on my wife's Henry and it shoots like a champ.

My son has the hunting spirit and I may take him deer hunting this season. I need something that would work for a medium framed 9yo. I was leaning towards a .243. What do you guys recommend? I may go look at a couple of varieties of the Ruger American at a LGS tomorrow.

The problem with .556 is that it is not legal in Indiana. Otherwise, we would be all set. I also have a .308 but it would kick too much for him right now. I want him to not be intimidated by the recoil.

I wound up with a CVA compact hunter in .243. He loves it. So far he's pretty consistent with a couple of inch groups at 75yards. He's proud to have a "real" rifle.
