Any Mauser specialists in the group?
I just picked this K98 up from a guy I was buying an arcade game from.
Doing some research on it now, which is a little confusing.
Any suggestions on where to research this?
Seems to be a non numbers matching gun.
The swastikas have not been defaced and the barrel is stamped GERMANY.

Didn’t see it at first, but the barrel is import marked.
Looks like this one was imported by Navy Arms in New Jersey in the 80s or 90s.

A little FN love.
This is basically the setup I’m going with on the SCAR-20. Might be a little overboard with the Vortex Razor, but will mostly be doing some distance shooting with this thing. Also planning on taking it hog hunting though. She’s heavy as hell, but I’m mostly planning on using it either from a bench or prone. Only thing left is to replace the flash hider with a break and then just waiting on the tax stamp for a surefire suppressor.
Went with a ACOG on the M249 Para and gonna leave it at that.

Picked up a Cleopatra today and a few additional things followed me home!
Short bayonet is I'm guessing an m16 bayonet.
It is marked Colt and Made in Germany. Snaps on its sheath have Eickhorn on rivets and sheath is stamped US M8A1 and Germany.
Not sure about the longer two bayonets. Mauser?? One marked Erfurt under a crown. The other is marked (?) maybe W.K.8C or something like that with some other numbers and letters under that.
Any idea what they are and rough value??
Oh, the powder cans were a bonus. Not much Unique in there but maybe half full of Bullseye!

They should have designed the head differently.
At least position it where you can use it as a forward grip or where the mouth opens up and becomes a bipod.

I finally got a few shots on the Savage Impulse, oh yeah, I'm lovin' it. I have a browning t-bolt for a nice straight pull pair... would love to have an Anschutz biathlon (edit: Fortner action), but yet to justify the $$ for a .22
There's something sweet about sliding a bullet straight home into the chamber.

Stopped by one of the local shops yesterday while I was out getting my morning coffee and picked this up. Ruger bolt action 308. Came with a pretty nice illuminated scope, 5 boxes of match grade ammo, 2 extra mags and a custom case for $750. One of the local guys won it as a prize in a competition and didn’t want it, so he consigned it at a local shop. Never been fired. Thought it was a pretty good deal for the price and should make an excellent deer rifle. Extremely light and I really like the trigger on it. Laser bore sighted it this afternoon and will take it to the range in the next week or so to get her dialed in.

Also, just a friendly reminder for anybody that’s a bird hunter. September 1st is this Thursday, which is opening day for dove season in most states.
Don’t forget to get your migratory bird/waterfowl stamp. Went down and got mine this afternoon, cost $5 in Arizona. Needless to say I’m taking Thursday off.

Here’s a few more parts that came in for my Norinco AK. I have a late pre ban under folder that had the bayonet cut off for importation. Turns out you can buy all the parts to turn a underfolder back into a double folder for under $600. Seems crazy because everyone seems to be asking $6500+ for a pre ban double folder, yet you can buy a really nice under folder for $1500-$2000. The parts are all Norinco/Polytech parts, so I doubt anybody could tell the difference and it will be all period correct. Only thing is that the front sight with the bayonet swivel/lug comes bare metal and I will need to get it blued. I’ll post an update when the project is finished. Also replacing the AR style flash hider with the correct AK slant break.

Just that last pic "H.J.S" engraved on the crown of the muzzle

And based on condition, I tend to agree it was probably a contemporary remake. But the flintlock FB group got very excited about it and how well it appeared to be made, so Still trying to research more on it. Hoping someone recognizes the locking plate or engraving style.

Is buying/selling allowed on this thread, or just showing the guns off?

#1832 1 year ago

Probably not the biggest audience for selling.. worse case the mods nix your post.

#1833 1 year ago

I don't have a problem with hearing what you guys have for sale, but I would only really be interested in stuff available in my home state unless it's something really worth the shipping.

#1834 1 year ago
Quoted from sbmania:

Exactly. Out of state kind of hard.

I know the mods said….be lucky this thread is even in existence as it is so I wouldn’t push it.

Maybe just recognize local pinsiders and talk with them.

For example I’ve met up with USMCSGT0331 and whatever we do stays off pinside.

#1835 1 year ago
Quoted from BradKreisler:

Is buying/selling allowed on this thread, or just showing the guns off?

Not really sure.
There’s been a few instances where people linked to something they were selling on gunbroker. Also a few where someone mentioned they were going to be selling something if someone was interested.

In the initial post by TigerLaw he lays down the basic ground rules for this thread.
It’s basically a discussion thread and the main things not allowed are political talk etc.
he didn’t really discuss buying and selling, so I’m not really sure.
I don’t really have an issue with it as long as it’s not someone spamming the thread with crap and is legitimately someone offering to sell something.

As others have mentioned, out of state sales is a little more complicated because there are federal regulations and a firearm would have to be shipped to an FFL holder.

lower demand for 410 so the manufacturers make even less.

I just sold a T/C in 410 buyer did not want the two boxes of shells because he reloaded, So I sold them.

I cant believe prices on reloading materials, primers, once fired brass....

Good morning. We do not want buying and selling in this thread. This is for showing off your collection and discussing the gun and target hobby. Thank you.

#1842 1 year ago
Quoted from Budman:

Wallmart (at least out here) has them from time to time. When they get shipments of shotgun shells its usually a bunch of those Winchester value packs of 12 gauge where it’s four boxes of shells, which sell out very fast. Things like 410, 16 and 28 gauge they only sell in single boxes, but they get those in at the same time. Those tend to be on the shelf for a while and don’t sell out so fast so you can normally pick up a couple boxes.

#1843 1 year ago

One of the other things with 410 is there’s increased demand with revolvers like the Taurus Judge etc., revolvers that shoot 44 long colt as well as 410. I know people who use them for a hiking gun where they load the first two rounds with 410 for rattlesnake and the remainder of the cylinder with 44 long colt in case of a predator attack. I don’t really care much for them, but those types of multi caliber handguns seem to be popular with some.

Quoted from bob_e:

$35 for 100 shotshell primers around here.

I just looked at star line brass. Prices haven’t gone up on 357 but I think they’ve been on back order for about a decade. At least you can order
