Redneck in the holler....
My famous last words.... "Oh Shit.."

#1103 3 years ago

More holler..
Gotta' love a 50.

Quoted from Fulltilt:

It was a Daniel Defense upper with a Slide Fire stock.
Sadly the Slide Fire is gone.

Thanks, I'm going to check YouTube out ,to see if I'd be interested in building one.
I already watched a couple AR 15 videos, but nothing on building one.

Quoted from ultimategameroom:

I finally stepped up and joined the club.
I’ve had high powered /adult air rifles since I was a teenager in the 80’s. I usually go shooting with a few friends who have nice collections so there was no motivation on my part to make a purchase. In the last few months I decided it was time and bought this Dan Wesson .45 1911 used. [quoted image]

Welcome to the club! A good first choice. 1911 are a dream to shoot. You will find a lot more people to shoot with than pinball for sure.

How much per shot?

Quoted from Gunnut40:

$2 at that time. $3 now. Certainly can go higher too.

So I enjoy podcasts and tried to listen to the Uncle Pinball's podcast. He says all gun owners are pussies. Deleted that podcast. Why do people feel the need to go straight to name calling when they don't agree on an opinion? I don't give a shit what he thinks, but I wouldn't insult him just because he is wrong.

Do you reload for that cal? I know they used to sell a lot of pulled bullets what were easy to find. I think some of them even had tracer powder at the base of them.

No. I figured I'll not shoot enough to make it worth the investment.
I do reload 50 Beowulf. That's an easy one.

EZ Peezee. Look at the Brownells videos for building your lower. The rest is really plug-n-play depending on what you want.

Ahh don’t get to bent out of shape. I would just tell him I’m the biggest pussy in the world. Biggest pussy in the world. Was that a echo? Yeah It happens with the size of my vagina gun barrel!

That’s not bad. I have 45 yards in my backyard to shoot. Still I would love to own one some day.

That almost sounds like something out of a movie.

So I told her I'm looking for a little one. She said, me too, mines as big as a house.

Used the Ammoseek.com site to grab a case of Magtech 9mm yesterday at .38/rnd.

Feels like I now have enough to go to the range without using up my entire stock in one session.

Finally found one of these...I didnt really want the Crimson Trace, but beggars can't be choosers. It was also on clearance...new old stock from 2014.

Well, their "clearance price" was MSRP. They had several others for about $400 over MSRP, so I guess that is why they are still there. Nonetheless, I am happy with the one I found. Ran 150 rounds through it at a neat little range near my family cabin. Costs a whopping $20 a year for a membership. Zero issues with factory ammo, as well as my reloads.

Well that took all of 10 minutes. Now we can bench rest with 10rd mags or power through some bowling pins at 50rds

Taking the Barrett for it's first range trip tomorrow. My neighbors love me using their house for laser bore sighting.

Man nice range. I sure wish our range had that many fun steel targets... especially the dueling tree.

My dad gave me one of the old bolt action 22 longs that I learned to shoot with when I was a kid.
The thing had just been sitting under his bed for the last 30 years and had a ton of flash rust on it.
Just finished cleaning it up.
Pretty happy with how it turned out.
Here’s a before and after.

That's excellent! What was your technique?

#1130 3 years ago
Quoted from Fulltilt:

That's excellent! What was your technique?

0000 steel wool and WD40.
Lightly rub while lubricated with WD40.
Clean regularly while your doing this so you’re not rubbing rust particles across the blueing and scratching it.
Don’t use too much pressure as your only trying to knock off the rust and not rub off the blueing.

One of my pinball buddies out here is a gunsmith and this was the method he suggested. Worked really well.

#1131 3 years ago

copper wool and WD or oil works well too.

#1132 3 years ago

Looking forward to taking it out. As I mentioned it’s a rifle that my dad taught us to shoot with when we were kids. My kids are 9 and 11 and have started to express a little interest when they see me cleaning things.

Durring stay at home orders we have been clearing part of our lot that was a fire hazard. Cleared about an acre and I’m planning on building an archery range for my compound bow and figured I could also use air rifles. We’re on 5 acres and too close to neighbors to shoot, but shooting a bow and air rifles would be fine. Although acasionally I do fire off a round of snake shot when we get a rattle snake in the front courtyard.
I figure teach them the basic safety stuff at home with air rifles and when they are comfortable with that we can take them to the range.

My buddy’s friend has one of these “AR-14”’s that I’m trying to get the actual picture of. LOL

3d printed some stands to hold my toolheads and the caliber change kit for each toolhead. The type Dillion sells does not hold everything in one place. I like being able to see if anything is missing when I am changing over, so now each part has a home.

Is there a good place to offer up firearms for trade for a pinball machine?

#1137 3 years ago
Quoted from RazorV23:

That is probably possible but highly unlikely IMHO. I think your best bet is to just sell them and use the cash to purchase the pinball machine of your choice. I recently sold a few firearms to get my first pin along with my first arcade machine. The current market is really hot and I was pretty pleased with the prices my firearms sold for. Good luck...

I have a left handed 16” AR. a couple shotguns and a Nylon 66 .22 I’m not using and would love to trade towards a pin, I also have a LAH I could add as well.

You are better off selling that stuff on Armslist or Gunbroker. Make sure you follow the appropriate rules in your state with regards to firearms transfers and shipping via FFL. Your stuff will sell for good money right now.

Missed wheel gun Wednesday by a day...picked up a new hand cannon today. S&W 629-6 44 magnum. This one definitely knocks the targets down!

Finally got my Springfield 911 last night. Ordered/paid for it in Hudson, picked it up in Robbinsdale. There's OCD, and then there's the gun store employees checking your ATF filled out form. Whew!

But, I got it. Even got 2 range passes. Can't wait to take it on the range.

#1143 3 years ago
Quoted from RazorV23:

When I was looking for my first game I offered some people a trade and no one was interested. Sold the guns and bought a game.
I have a few more guns I need to sell, in the past I used the Michigan Gun Owners forum, any recommendations for a better place? I saw armslist and gunbroker mentioned above, never been to those sites before. Are they easy to use? Are they expensive to list? I just have a Walther P22 and a Mosin with an aftermarket stock that uses 10 round detachable magazines to sell so not very pricey guns. I got out of the shooting hobby when I got into pinball and sold everything but those and my home defense and carry guns to fund my first few machines.

Went to the range today. Plenty of shotgun shells available.

Can anybody recommend a good hearing protection?

Feels like I got scammed on Amazon for these at $52 because the first thing I noticed as they are made in China. Seems to be par for the course on Amazon anymore with fake listings and counterfeit goods. If somebody can point me the right direction for quality ear muffs I would be much obliged.

Howard Leight by Honeywell Impact Sport Sound Amplification Electronic Shooting Earmuff

I have the same ones...they seem to work okay. But I tried using them while working in the shop while hooked to my phone playing a podcast...and any machinery drowns the audio out immediately. Even with my phone at max output volume. The volume control on the muffs is only for turning up the volume of the outside ambient noise.

From Amazon, you can get some excellent electronic noise protection. For general use, it works great.

NICS background check is so annoying. Went to pickup my Glock43 yesterday and got a 'Delayed' response. Whatever; I mean if I was gonna shoot somebody wouldn't I just use one of the guns I already have??

Store calls today and says they got the 'Proceed'. Great, so I can go back tomorrow and pick it up but damn, two trips within 24 hours when the actual check really didn't prove or disprove anything.

Semi-related. Anybody have experience with Maggut +2 which essentially changes the magazine spring and bottom plate to allow 2 extra rounds inside the OEM mag tube? Thinking going from 6+1 to 8+1 and only adding 1/4" probably worth it
