Nice area to live but this going after the good guy is so ridiculous....

Anyone trade pinball for long guns?

I didn't expect to hear the crickets from that question. Anyway, I have a Beowulf.

Being honest, there are a few firearms in the safe. I'm not usually one to post pictures of them, but can't help but show off my most recent acquisition via garage sale. For the record, I'm not usually one to frequent garage sales either but this was an elderly neighbor that was moving and it was on my way home from work.

For the grand sum of $18 I was able to bring home a 1961 Crossman Pellet Pistol.

5J5A0395 (resized).JPG5J5A0395 (resized).JPG

Have not had a chance to fire it yet. . . does not look to have been used much and still has a can full original pellets with it. Those chipmunks that have been stealing my blueberries better beware!

#557 5 years ago

Oh man, what a great memory. I had one very similar as a kid. Super pickup.

#558 5 years ago

Would anyone be able to possibly identify the gun model in these photos? Thank you.

Looks like a 1911 except the hollow recoil spring guide looks weird. It's definitely a .45 though.

If it were the Joker, that's where his flag would pop out.

Okay folks... how about the model of rifle that Elvis here is shooting on Carnival Gun?

Mine has an Echo trigger. Is that a bad thing?

How do you like it? I put one on one of my ARs but haven't tried it out 'live' yet.
An echo trigger on the Beowulf should be fun!

Found the gun... er... found the barreled action. It was a Remington 514. Got a stock off flebay. It will need some custom inletting to fit the UMC trigger casting.

I was thinking a 511. A 514 is a single shot. That picture has a magazine. I have both.

Added over 6 years ago:

Edit:
A 510 is the single shot. Not 514 like I said.

#566 5 years ago

A little bit off topic but still in the gun hobby. If you can't afford one of the big guns, make it in miniature. (:
From one of my favorite WWII films.

You could probably sell the box and can on ebay to recoup the $18.

Not his watch. Right behind the watch. The magazine only sticks out about 3/8 of an inch. But I'm probably wrong anyway. The magazine on mine is way back from the rear sight. That must be part of the mount I'm looking at.

Edit:
I have a 511 "magazine"
and a 510 "single"

Either the 513's or 514's have globe sights, don't remember right now.

#572 5 years ago

I'll go with part of the mount.

Love the Garand. Where from? CMP?

#574 5 years ago

Yes sir, got two from the CMP. One service grade and one field grade. Both shoot great. If you haven’t heard, the CMP will be selling surplus 1911’s starting later this year.

I haven't. I would like to have a 1911 and a Garand. Do you shoot yours or just rub it with diapers?

I've a nice M1a in 308 that I rarely get to shoot, but its fun and more accurate than I can see with my naked eye.

#576 5 years ago
Quoted from Nevus:

Both! I was very impressed with the accuracy of the Garand - good grouping on target at 100yrds. The service grade Garand came with a very nice new walnut stock with the CMP cartouche. The field grade came with a new hackberry stock that I replaced with a vintage Springfield stock I got off e-bay.

Here's the link to CMP sales if you're interested: http://thecmp.org/cmp_sales/

Here's a pic from our recent trip to the range - fired the .223, the M1 Garand and the 308 with suppressor. My brother in-law was sponsoring an exchange student from Paris, France - and he asked if we could go shooting. Well HELL YEAH we can! After making sure he understood the four rules of gun safety, I brought out a good portion of the arsenal - pistols and long guns. We spent a couple hours punching holes in paper. He said it was one of the most amazing things he's done, and took lots of pics and vids to show his friends back home. Of course, his parents warned him against posting any of those pictures on-line because evidently this kind of fun is frowned upon over the pond.

...but I digress.

Classic German 9s.
They stamped and marked every part. Obsessed with detail.

Sold my original first gen Barrett.
My rebound gun was the Savage in 300 Winn Mag. I liked it a lot better!
With Timney replacement trigger.

What’s your weakness? For me it’s the lever guns. I love them. This Winchester mod 92 in 38-40 is a blast to shoot.

My weakness has always been handguns for some reason. The Smith & Wesson M&P series is a huge weakness for me also.

A number of single shot relics have found their way home lately. And some not so relic like a Ruger #3 in 22 Hornet. The local 'chuck population is not liking that one at all.
