Gulfstream was playing perfect but just started scoring too many balls, sometimes, when the special is hit. I have tried replicating the problem with the play field tilted up but it works fine when doing this. Any clue on where to look first? Thanks

Adding some history:
Last week replaced a flipper coil that overheated.
Last month replaced many of the playfield lights with Comet LEDs.

I have done general maintenance on the machine for more than 10 years and have owned the machine for the last 5.
Thanks again.

Does it matter which Special, ie-the rollovers or the 3 in line? I would check NO sw. 1B on the Special Reset relay and Index-D on the score motor.

curriedog thanks for commenting so quickly. I am just getting to mess with the machine now. The problem only happens on the 3 in line special. I can't replicate the problem by manually pushing the special target. The problem only seems to happen when the playfield is down and a ball actually hits the special.
The last time it happened I noticed the ball count went from 1 counted up to 7 than back to 6 than back to 7.

Switch and index-D appear fine.

Check sw. 1A and the SM

3 in line relay, The switches look good but the coil looks burnt. Could the coil be the problem?

Could. Do you have a multimeter to test it?

Or you could swap it with one your other M 29-1100 coils.

You guys are the best. I was looking at the wrong relay. I found the real "3 in line reset" and it is sticking. I haven't figured out why yet but I am on track now.
Thanks again.
I won't be able to get into it today but will get back to you hopefully tomorrow.

"sticking" ... do you mean energizing and holding?

#11 5 months ago

Yes energizing then holding. The hold is not electric. I can replicate it pushing it with my finger then is sticks. It has a different spring on the assembly than all of the other M 29-1100 relays. I am going to switch the spring and see if that helps.

Make sure the blades are not binding.

Hi Nhoj
I am curious - Your "hold is not electric" - hmm, question: You have toggled-off the pin - THEN You push manually - then it sticks ?
See the JPG - I added information to Your picture - the information is: The Relay has a Self-Hold-Switch / Self-Hold-Circuitry. Greetings Rolf

Thanks again for the help. I ended up taking the relay apart, cleaning the contacts, coil and other parts really well. That seemed to do the trick. We have played about 50 games and everything is working correctly.
