Quoted from PoBoyPinball:now if some one can help me figure out how to become a IFPA member that would be great.
playing in a sanctioned tournament = ifpa member. once the results are posted, you can register with the ifpa to add your email address, location, age, a picture, etc.
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:I see that Preston has no LA IFPA points and he won the tournament, so it could be that the names have been entered thus far, but not the associated points earned yet.
If the results just got posted today, the points won't show until tomomorrow, or the next time the IFPA website is rebuilt.
Quoted from Jodester:Not super happy with point distribution. I did put in that it was a double elimination best 3 out of 5, which was a change from our original format.
jodester, i think the biggest issue was newer tournament players. 4/9 of the players didn't count towards the calculation due to not having played in enough previous tournaments (i think 3 or 5). under the current ifpa rules, your best bet is having as many 4-player matches as possible since that doubles the meaningful games for each round.
i didn't do the math, but the points look about right. the real solution is a quarterly bayou bash!
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:The tournament is partly an excuse to have a pinball party and hang out together.
you can't spell partly without party!
Quoted from Jodester:Is pingolf still allowed?
pingolf is allowed as long as the finals are decided with head to head play. so for a side tournament, say 9 holes of pingolf, then the top qualifiers playing 4-player matches on 3 games would do it.
the exact numbers can change, but there has to be that part that ifpa calls "direct play." the pingolf part by itself is considered "indirect play."
correct. you can put more emphasis on the qualifying scores by taking the bare minimum for the playoffs portion (10% of the total players, minimum of 2 players).
you can also increase the point value of that type of tournament by offering unlimited attempts over the course of the day.
Quoted from Zukboy2002:I'm planning on having another tournament in November not sure on the date yet.
please schedule it on a different weekend than the houston show
i'm excited for the mystery knockout format. the match play tournaments have become so cutthroat that you pretty much have to get 1st or 2nd in every round to make the A division.
Quoted from Spg101:Thank you, I will plan to be there barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Check out spacecitypinball.com
We host a casual league at joystix next to the ballpark, and tournaments at the game preserve in spring
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:Open weekend days in June for me as of now are: Sun June 4, Sun 18th (Father's Day), Sat 24, & Sun Jun 25.
Please avoid the 23rd to 25th of June. It's the bat city open. In Austin. On 6th street
i will bring rolls. i think a few other houston players will be there, but i don't know the exact number right now.
Quoted from Nevus:I've got a Target Alpha I've been meaning to list for just a tad more. It works 100% and is in good shape. I'm asking $650. Pics coming soon. It's about an 7.5/10.
i'll buy that from you. i've been looking for another good EM
Quoted from Jodester:I seem to remember somebody offering to buy it from you the week you got it. Now who could that be...
if you were already in line, it's yours. you should have kept the paragon another month!
Quoted from Arcade:They must not realize Preston is coming.
Oh, I'm aware. I'm hoping to qualify for the Louisiana SCS so I can beat him in whichever state he decides to play
Quoted from Jodester:So, it looks like the results for the final tournament have posted to IFPA for the top 16 in Louisiana.
Was the league result that people were waiting on the one that is from March 14, 2017, or was there a later one, too?
I'm going to play in LA if someone drops out before the 20th, otherwise up to Dallas I go.
dude, everyone knows it's a party. everyone will be there to party. except this guy:
