Edwin, I won the Walking Dead soap. Lol
And yes the tourney in Pioneer is certainly different then most
What Noah's_arcade said .
All you had to do was play in the IFPA tourney. Your name will be turned in automatically
Quoted from TigerLaw:That does look amazing! Is that game a long time keeper for you guys or will it be just passing through? Pinball-is-great has been wanting a Whitewater for many years.
All of us are loving it.
Looking like a long term keeper.
I posted this on the Facebook page but thought it was just too cool not to post here as well.
This just showed up at my door 10 min. Ago.
Simply stunning work and this is Prototype 2 of 8.
The photo does nothing for the 3D effect but it looks incredible.
Just a slight blur in the front section.
They are finishing Whitewater in 3D right now.
The more club shirts the better.
Perhaps we can use some of the originals we have left as prizes at future events.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Sounds like a future party needs to be at Iceman's place.
That would be awesome.
I did some AC/DC music files for his pin awhile back.
Quoted from Nevus:Have to miss that one
Because I'm going to pick up my BBB that weekend
If I can coordinate with Jody, I'll come in early July for a game swap.
Nice.
I want details and photos please.
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:It would be cool to see Henry and Preston play a game.
It will happen at some point.
Preston did not really get serious about pinball until he was 11 or 12.
But he has played since he was able to reach the buttons.
Actually before that, as I manned the other button for a bit.
And for those of you who have been to our gameroom here at the house, here are some early days shots of what our lineup used to look like before we even knew you could have tournaments or pinball parties.
Notice the old paneling from the early days before the hurricane destroyed the room.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Those photos are awesome! Gosh, you guys have had some amazing games over the years.
Thanks.
And yes, we have been at this quite some time.
That is only a small sample of the many games we have had.
Quoted from Jodester:I am looking at that lineup with Indy, WW, STTNG, Totan and I am floored. Awesome pics!
Yea.
We have always had more pinballs then we have space for or money to keep them.
If we could have kept all, of the over 100 games we have owned over the years our collection would be very impressive.
A lot of those we would love to have back right now, but we had to eat and send our kids to school. lol
I will try and dig up some more old photos later.
Here is a fun one.
How many people keep a pin out in the middle of their yard? We did.
It was indeed a Comet.
It was 1 of 2 that we owned.
One of them sacrificed its life for the other.
We used to store them in our barn until we had time to work on them.
So we were young and would just carry them two houses down. This was just a temporary resting spot.
Came across a few more that I had already scanned in the past.
Just look how young we were. lol
All of these pins were free!!!!
We rescued them from a local route operator that was going out of business and had them stored under a covered outdoor shed.
Also shown is the barn we stored them in until such a time as we could restore them. All of them made it except the Hollywood. All the parts on it were toast.
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:Great classic photos. Thanks for sharing.
The 2nd & 3rd pic, sorta look like you guys are gettin ready to do a TNT Amusement video and chuck the pins off the end of the truck. J/k.
Yes it does.
That was our first Captain Fantastic of two
And our first Twin Win of two.
Of course you have the second Twin Win now.
Quoted from Noahs_Arcade:i thought that was my hollywood for a second. i was going to put the photo on the apron
Totally different Hollywood.
The playfield on this one had really bad water damage.
Quoted from Zukboy2002:Just brought this bad boy home!!
Love the X-Men. Looks fantastic.
And lets see some photos of Whitewater even if you are still working on it.
Would love to make the tourney but I think it is the same weekend as an Auction I have to go to in Dallas.
We have a bunch of redemption games in storage that we really need to get rid of for space and the auction is that Saturday.
Found this in another thread and thought you guys would care to see it.
This is Tigerlaw's refinery edition Metallica just finished.
His is the one on the far left/front.
It has the LSU purple and yellow on Sparky and the black light bars for the side art to light up with the flashers.
Should be a blast to play.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Do you like it better with the clear ramp? It looks better to me in the photos.
Yes.
Everyone likes the clear ramps much better.
May do Twilight Zone later on as it has the smoky ramps from the factory as well.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Met Premium Refinery Edition has arrived. Will have to wait till tomorrow to unbox though.
Looking great as always.
Those Stern factory boxes, that is.
Love the photo's guys.
Thanks for sharing.
We will be over to play as soon as we can.
Also love the smaller hammer. Was never a fan of the large clunky one on the game.
Nice. Where is Lloyd's place located?
I have seen lots of photos over the years, but not sure where it is.
Quoted from Zukboy2002:Heres the plaques I made for the top 3 finishers
Those look awesome.
How long are they?
Quoted from TigerLaw:The Moncla Mafia had a really nice modded Elvis they sold about two years ago as I recall.
Yes we did.
And the best part is it is only a mile from my house now.
I really liked Elvis and it was a great looking pin.
Quoted from PavBall:Why did Preston not play in the Austin Papa tournament?
He would have loved to.
But he had to work this weekend because he is going to a big event in Austin all next weekend.
Life just gets in the way. Wish we could do it all.
Quoted from TigerLaw:July 16th.
Thanks just found it. We will do our best to make it
What games will be tournament ready?
Will Whitewater be done in time?
Looking like we should be able to make it at this point.
Hopefully nothing will come up.
Had a bit of free time tonight so I decided to put on a mod I have had sitting around for over a year now.
A guy on pinside laser cut a piece of clear acrylic to place under the mini playfield on Twilight Zone.
The game comes with a cardboard piece underneath that does not allow any light to shine downwards.
I pulled the mini playfield off the game, (Surprisingly easy), and attached the new clear part.
While I had it off I replaced all the white rubber rings underneath as well as the ones on top of the mini playfield.
Snapped a pic of the game with the mini playfield removed so you can see what is under it.
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Had to feed my pinball buying addiction last night
Very nice.
Looks great
Quoted from TigerLaw:Anyone have any pinball related plans this weekend? Share the fun with the group.
Not much pinball related going on here this weekend.
Dennis and Preston are both in Austin and I have my wifes family coming in and will be outside grilling burgers and sausage.
I will be installing a better wireless router near the pinball machines so we can eventually do a live stream in the future.
But nothing exciting about that. Still a ways off before we have the equipment we need.
Got the Internet zinging along at 18 MBs.
So we should get some good pinball broadcasts in the near future.
Quoted from Zukboy2002:WOW Yup id say it's worth it!!
One of the legends of pinball.
We have a translite and that will probably be all we ever own of this pin.
We will be in Alaska during the Romp in the Swamp.
But we will be there in spirit.
Maybe Dennis or Allen can make it.
Quoted from Zukboy2002:not good i didnt buy anything. Prices were way to high on undesirable games and the games i was interested in were not for sale. Maybe next time
A wise shopper is a happy shopper.
Sometimes you have to walk away.
My Brother and I took some closeup photos of some of our games and had them printed at a local print shop on the material they use to do car wraps with. We put them in our upper game room windows to help block out the afternoon sun and because they just look so damn cool.
Posted it on the Gulfcoast Facebook page but thought it deserved a spot here as well.
Love the way they turned out.
What a great tournament and a great bunch of people that got together this weekend.
Congrats to our three Winners, Preston, Dennis and Kevin.
We had some crazy comeback wins and even one game that was won by 1 single point. (Wow).
Special thanks to our awesome host Joshua and his spectacular gameroom the he did most of the work building himself.
Very impressive.
We rolled back into Beaumont around 1:30 in the morning.
Quoted from Noahs_Arcade:please schedule it on a different weekend than the houston show
He will.
We already discussed that.
We are thinking about doing the Oil City Open on a Sunday so Allen can make it.
Does Sunday October 9 work for some of you guys?
Quoted from TigerLaw:What's everyone up to this weekend? Any pinball related activities going on?
Not here. We have a family wedding in Houston requiring a hotel stay.
However we did have our first successful test on our Twitch Stream.
So that will be happening very soon. Perhaps Sunday night.
We will post up when it will happen.
Our Twitch channel link is www.twitch.tv/thepinballmafia
Quoted from Nevus:My next outing is a road trip for BBB pickup!
Sounds more fun then a wedding. lol
I have been chatting with Leakyfaucet a bit.
Welcome to the group Seth.
You will find everyone in here very friendly and helpful.
And that Caberet looks really nice.
Quoted from iceman44:I love the swamp and I want to romp!
My Bday is Aug. 17th so despite the fact that my wife will give me shit, I'm calling in this chit.
She and my middle daughter are on a cruise in Alaska right now.
Only prob, my youngest daughter made freshman volleyball team so somebody has to stay home!
Gambling and some pinball!!!!
Funny. Preston and me leave for Alaska on Sunday.
But at least you will be coming to the tourney that mere mortals can win.
Hope everyone has a great time and be sure to post lots of photos.
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:Umm Arcade,
It would be nice if you and family would take a lot of nice scenic pics while on vacation.
We would like to see them after you get back.
Maybe run a slideshow during the Oct tournament.
We will certainly take a lot.
Not a problem.
Looks like fun glad Allen made it. I hear Beaumont it getting very flooded right now.
We just returned from whale watching and a glacier trip here in Alaska.
Yesterday we took a train ride up into Canada.
The trip has been awesome.
Nice to see some pinball activities though.
Good luck everyone.
Just got back in town.
We will put it on the calendar this week but our Oil City Open is slated for Sunday October 9th.
Tried to do it before we left but never had time.
So there will be a lot of pinball in early Oct. looks like.
We will be going live (Hopefully) around 9:00 CST tonight with our very first live pinball game play stream. Fingers crossed not too many glitches. First game up will be Metallica.
http://www.twitch.tv/thepinballmafia
All in all the live stream was a good success.
We will try to do a different machine every Sunday night at 9:00.
The game played great and we had lots of chat going in the chat room.
We even had Double Danger Pinball stop in for a bit.
Can't wait to do it again.
Preston even managed to complete some Crank it Ups and got to show of some of what the new code can do.
We will certainly live stream a game during the upcoming Oil City Open on Oct. 9th so everyone can be an internet star.
Quoted from TigerLaw:I finally got on the board (4th place but still) on my Sorcerer. 3.754 mill. Preston and Allen had blown up the top scores.
I'm determined to get better at that game so it's not a free win for people when they come over and play me on it.
Nice.
Thanks Tiger.
Time for all my games to start breaking now that we announced. Lol
Currently 100% though
And keep your fingers crossed and Ghostbusters Premium may make an appearance
Join our live Twitch stream tonight (Sunday) around 9:00 P.M. Tonights game is AC/DC Premium. Be sure to say hello in the chat and let's talk pinball. http://www.twitch.tv/thepinballmafia
Quoted from TigerLaw:Anyone here getting in on the new Batman?
Love the theme, but not buying anything without more information.
I'm sure it's going to be great but we will wait to make sure everything is good.
Our Ghostbusters Pro has zero ghosting but the crazy stories showing up with the LE's has me a bit worried about my premium. Hopefully the issues have been solved.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Oh man, those purple ramps are gorgeous!!!
Agreed.
Nice game.
Quoted from Zukboy2002:Put this up earlier today!
Nice.
Did you get that upper flipper angled a bit better to help out with the whirlpool shots?
Tonights live game at 9:00 is Game of Thrones Pro.
Enjoy if you have some time to kill.
http://www.twitch.tv/thepinballmafia
Quoted from GreenWave:but when you have the bug, you have the bug!
I know, right?
We have two pins on the way in the next two weeks and are already talking about Batman. lol
Quoted from TigerLaw:We will be watching!
Awesome be sure and say hello in the Chat.
Yes. It is saved.
You can watch it from the link. It will be on the top right.
Sorry you could not get on.
We/Preston had two great games.
Our latest pickup is Spider-Man. Just in today.
It was a route game so it needed some tweaking but is playing 100% already.
Overall in very nice shape for a route game.
Has some scratches on the inside left of cabinet that will paint or cover up nicely with side art.
Needs some new plastics in places and has some wear around the start button.
Having a blast with it already.
My wife gave me the go ahead for Red River yesterday.
Now I just have to figure out the distance and if I'll be getting a hotel room like some of you.
I am guessing since I am farther then Lake Charles the answer will be yes.
Preston can't make it as he will be at a wedding in Crystal Beach that day.
Chris,
The event was awesome and your pins are top notch.
Thanks for putting up with all of us for the long night.
We made it back to Texas safe and sound.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Who ended up driving?
Me of course.
Dennis is getting old faster. Lol
But I have to congratulate him on his first tourney win for first place.
That was a lot of pinball.
Henry was a blast.
Had a great time playing pinball with/against him.
Already a great player who will only get better.
Well, I never in a million years thought this would happen.
But yesterday my wife asked me if I wanted to go the the Chicago Pinball Expo for my birthday.
Wait,what?
Did I just hear that?
Now I have a hotel, plane tickets for myself and Preston and the biggest smile you could imagine.
We will get to take the Stern Factory tour. See the reveal of Batman 66, JJP game 3, Alien, Attack from Mars and attend the Stern Epic Party with Adam West and Ed Robertson and attend the big banquet. Not to mention all the cool seminars and everyone associated with the hobby.
Still not believing it is all real.
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:You lucky dog you better keep her and give her a big kiss Epic birthday gift
So True.
So True.
My wife, who could care less about pinball, is beyond awesome.
Live Ghostbusters Premium pinball stream tonight. 9:00 P.M. CST
http://www.twitch.tv/thepinballmafia
Join in the fun and ask any questions you may have live.
Game has build date of Sept 19th.
No playfield date stamp.
All inserts still perfect and drop targets working really well. Almost no rejections.
So far we have added a Shaker motor, color captive balls, Stern Side art, speaker grill lights and cut out, and an airball protector plastic.
Quoted from Jodester:Enjoyed the stream Leon!
Thanks.
We are now up to 40 followers for our little game sessions.
Just something fun to do on Sunday nights.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Trying to figure out what to do with Megatron. Do y'all have a little patio place out back where a poodle puppy might hangout safely on a leash?
Yes.
Just keep in mind our yard is massive and not fenced everywhere.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Y'all got pics from the Beaumont tourney today?
Great tournament today.
We had 20 people in the main event.
Quoted from Jodester:It was a great tourney Leon. Thanks to you guys for hosting. All the machines played well although pulling the side post on GoT and the flipper post in Spiderman were murder.
Agreed.
But we had to get people home at a decent hour.
Nice to have people from as far away as Corpus Christi, Austin and Boston.
Would have been super cool if Mark Henderson's son Josh Henderson had been in town.
We had some awesome talent his weekend.
Lee was a pinball playing machine.
Quoted from PavBall:We still struggle to get the live stream going. Are old ones on youtube?
Yes we are putting them on You Tube as well. just search The Pinball Mafia.
On our way home from Expo. Wow, what a show. Preston and I had the time of our lives.
Quoted from TigerLaw:What did you and Preston think of dialed in?
The game plays great. All the shots feel great.
Theme. Meh, we are still on the fence.
Pat Lawlor told me code was only 20% so the game has much more to add.
It takes selfies of you to post on the big screen. If you set your phone on a special place on the lockdown bar during multiball you can pick up your phone and control the machine with your phone.
It also uses hand movement to do things like scratch of a virtual loto ticket.
Quoted from TigerLaw:That was very fun last night guys. Ghostbusters looks absolutely brutal.
Thanks. It was being a bitch last night.
On the game right before the stream Preston finished the entire right ladder with Stay Puft Mode and got to We came We Saw.
Then for 2 hours the game decided it was going to show what it it made of. lol
But we enjoyed talking with everyone about Expo and the new games that are on the way.
I'll post some photos here later today from Expo.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Made it by Modern here in New York, very briefly.
Nice Photo.
Hope your trip is going well.
Allen may just make it Saturday night.
He currently has to work Saturday.
We will be there and are bringing a game for the tourney area.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Looks great! I'm jealous of you guys and all your finds.
What's everyone up to this weekend?
My wife has family in town for her birthday.
Spending most of the weekend with them.
Quoted from scottslash:I'm verified! "The phone books are here! I'm somebody!"
"He hates these cans."
Can't wait to see them in person. But it will be awhile before we are back home again.
We leave for Houston in the morning.
Come back Sunday and then fly out to Orlando for the IAAPA show on Monday.
We will be gone all week.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Moncla mafia didn't do a live feed this weekend?
We did Spider-Man.
Just did not post it before hand.
It was a great stream with lots of people talking about Dialed In Wizard of Oz and more.
We found that posting on pinball sites did not really help much. The twitch people and people that follow us always find us.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:So check this awesome thing my wife did for me for Christmas! It's a key holder for my pinball machines with back glass key chains. I see some extra hooks in my future!
Nice.
Ask her when I can put my order in.
Quoted from TigerLaw:So, who all is getting a BM66 in this club?
Anyone getting a Dialed In?
No idea what pin will be next for us.
If Batman and Dialed in were priced normal they would have a better chance.
We are in a holding pattern.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Ever feel like you're being watched when you play pinball? My game room has had a spy appear recently.
Here it is a little closer.
Definitely Russian.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:Super stoked!! Using my flu fueled boredom, I just ordered my TPF passes for my wife and I. Booked a room at Home2 suites, is anyone else staying there? Never been to a pinball festival so I can't imagine the fun!
TPF is one of the best pinball shows on the planet.
You are certainly starting at the top.
It has it all. Seminars, Tournaments, Parts galore, great people and free give aways and raffles and tons more.
No way to do it all but you can certainly try.
I have been attending it since around 2004.
It has been a blast to watch it grow into the juggernaut it is today.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:What you do Tiger... scare her by saying this might be the last time yall could go with only ONE baby.
Unless she wants more kids, then you are screwed. So people dress up?!?! We're RenFest people so we love that! Maybe Renaissance and pinball go together minus the whole electricity thing.
Some people dress up in Dallas.
Tons of people dress up at the Houston show.
Dallas = Pinball Event.
Houston = Pinball Party.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:Leon, when is the Houston show? Is that the one I missed in Oct or Nov?
Mike already answered you, but yes the Houston show is in November every year.
It is held at the Crowne Plaza on 290 North.
Both shows are awesome and not to be missed if you can help it.
The Dallas show you are going to is for the most part, in one giant room and the games are very spread out with plenty of room to walk around and talk. No extra music is playing so you can really hear your particular game pretty well. Tons of games will have for sale signs on them with phone numbers so you can pick up one at the show if you are looking for one. Tons of guest speakers are in the side rooms giving talks on their jobs in the industry. Sometimes new games are revealed at this show. The tournament area has a wide selection of games and runs fairly well now. In the past it had it's troubles staying on schedule. If you need a game part, you can probably easily find it in stock at this show and if not they can certainly order it for you. Ton's of vendors show up for this event. Oh and if you need anything autographed, there are plenty of big names on hand signing backglasses and playfield parts for you. Just bring whatever you want signed with you.
The Houston show is great as well. It is set up in two smaller rooms, 3 if you count the separate tournament room. It is packed tight and half of one of the rooms is dedicated to console gaming and a few vendors. Keith has a DJ booth set up in one of the rooms and pumps out high energy jams throughout the show. Lights are low and hearing the sound from your game is not going to happen. It is still a blast, just different, so know that going in. There is plenty of room in the hallways and lobby to gather and talk shop. They, like Dallas also do a swap meet in the parking lot where regular collectors bring parts and project machines you can pick up really cheap. They also hold costume contest as well and there are always some really inventive costumes at the show.
We just installed our new Spider-Man painted speaker panel and Whitewater side panel art this week.
Came out really nice.
We also put a cointaker shaker in Spider-Man because they were on sale for $79.
But holy hell, that thing is crazy loud and shakes your fillings out. Lol
It will be for sale soon as I have a normal Pinball life shaker on the way.
Quoted from action76:Get you one of these and put on that Cointaker motor. I put one on my TWD and it made all the difference in the world. Now I can adjust it to whatever intensity I want.
ebay.com link » Dc 6v 12v 24v 28v 3a New 1pc Control Pwm Speed Controller Switch Motor
Cool.
Would be awesome if all shaker motors came with one of those installed in the first place.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:Well I came home with another pinball machine with help from JAHpinWizard and so the inevitable thing happened my wife said they had to go outside. So, after several hours of disassembly and the help of my brother in law, all my machines are in my future game room in a row for the first time. Even though, some are in the process of being repaired and brought to life, it makes me super happy.... sheetrock or not!
Who needs Sheetrock.
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:Sheetrock. ...Big deal.
How about winning this to spice up the gameroom?.
That should look great next to the Texas one.
Quoted from Nevus:He's been asking me for a while to get one. I ordered a Premium after the TPF and then cancelled with the PF issues etc that happened over the summer. I'm really glad I changed my mind, the game is great fun.
We took a chance and got one of the first Premiums off the line.
Worked out great. Playfield is still fantastic.
Certainly one of Sterns greatest.
We will bringing at least one game from Beaumont. Have not decided on which one yet. It was Metallica and 2001 last year.
Right now I'm leaning towards Game of Thrones Pro but that could change
Quoted from Nevus:I'm not sure. I'm thinking about selling Full Throttle to try something new. Alien does look great. My current money is going to Keith Holbrook to restore my 81 Eight Ball Deluxe. Dropping it off next weekend!
Mmmmm. Eight Ball Deluxe.
My Arcade here in Beaumont, Colorado Canyon is going to sell two pinballs.
Below is my post from the Gulf Coast Pinball Facebook page. Wanted to offer them locally first before posting a for sale here on Pinside.
Here is a cut and past with the photos.
Two Pinballs for sale. These are location games and are being sold and priced as such. These are not games from our personal collection, but are on location at our arcade. They are however very well kept and clean. We are selling these to bring in other games, they both work great. Star Trek Pro $4300. Full Throttle $5995. The Ghostbusters is not for sale. Posting locally here first. Star Trek has no issues. Full Throttle has the lower monitor out but a new one is on the way from Heighway pinball. Cointaker has promised us the new owner will get the monitor as soon as it arrives from over seas. Here are the photos. Message me if interested or call Colorado Canyon here in Beaumont.
Quoted from Spg101:Hey, just getting into this but I travel to Beaumont frequently. I go out to orange and interested in watching some quality players to see if I can pick anything up. Just bought a WoZ and it's awesome. Never been in a tournament and would like to see some serious play. I move a lot, keep me updated....
Awesome. Welcome to the group.
Whenever you are in Beaumont just let me know with a PM here on Pinside.
We love to have people over to play and talk Pinball.
Leon.
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Looks good. Based off of pics I have seen of your game and seeing it at Dan's. Are you going to repaint the cab? Or go with the patina look?
That is a great question. We are fine with most cabinets as they are.
The body on this one is really in good shape. It is the wear at the top of the head that bothers me.
Problem is there is probably no way to fix just that part without making the rest of the game look horrible.
So for now it is going to stay as is.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:I know TWD can't be, the magnet in the prison yard shoots it straight down the middle with no hope of nudging it to the flippers, others level seems off.
That is just how the Walking Dead is. Nothing can be done about that.
Also the ball will drain down the middle a lot when exiting the pop bumpers.
All you can do is shake it and hope for the best. lol
It is awesome that they have great pinball tables and I wish them luck.
But we have three great ones at Colorado Canyon and they are on the bottom of the food chain compared to our other games.
Even Ghostbusters as great as it is, will take forever to pay for itself for the $5200 price tag.
I can only imagine trying to pay for a $12,000 or more Batman. They must have deep pockets or a lot of guts putting over $30,000 worth of pins in a gas station strip center.
Quoted from Nevus:Are they some kind of tax Jedi, manipulating the losses?
lol.
Maybe a drug front money laundering scheme.
Quoted from Spg101:Are you guys routing games or mostly HUO machines? I think I need an AC/DC next to my WoZ but need to play it. Never seen one before. I can tell you have to play before buying. Some of the heavy hitters are not my favorites...
Most of us have HUO collections.
My brother and I also happen to run an arcade as part of our business.
We have 3 pinballs at work and around 15 or so at home.
Here is our current Stern line up with Aerosmith on the way next week.
Quoted from scottslash:I guess nevus and I are the only Ark-La-Tex Pinball Club exhibitors at Texas Pinball Festival? Really? Was sure nice having a bunch of us together...
Hopefully they will put Gulf Coast and Ark La Tex together like they did last year.
Quoted from Jeremy8419:Hi, I'm new.
The games I like:
Blackout (Idk, retro sounds and colors and simplicity)
Black Knight 2000 (only played virtual, just cool)
Junkyard (fun theme and collecting, cool minigames)
Midevil Madness (silly-cool)
Wizard of Oz 75th (ooooooo preeeetttyyyyy)
F-14 (tactical theme and sounds are cool)
Some Roses EM game (EM's are simple and easily measurable skill, without a ton of rules to obfuscate base skill)
Games I dislike:
Twilight Zone (seems like a bunch of random crap with poor aedthetical interactions)
Firepower (board is fugly)
Game of Thrones (boring. Lots of loops/ramps but boring and monotonous. Non LE extra boring)
Addams Family
Anything with death themes
AC/DC and Metallica (themes are crap to me)
Most modern Sterns that seem like the same repetitive game
Banging on the machine to nudge stuff (I have a "Just play the damn game" mentality)
These are MY views/tastes, so "hey I think you'd like X" are appreciated.
Funny. I can't stand the sound on F14 and love every game you hate as well as nudging, which is a huge part of playing pinball correctly.
But welcome to the group and pinball. Everyone is certainly different with tastes.
Quoted from Zukboy2002:Picked up a Elvira last night
Where does he get such wonderful toys?
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:TPF was awesome for a first pinball experience. It was great meeting the Moncla's mafia and playing a few rounds with Mike. Congrats to Preston! Can't wait to do it again! See yall soon.
Thanks,
You and your family were great to meet as well. Always nice to put faces to who I am talking with.
We had such a great weekend and can't wait to do it all over again next year. Always sad when Sunday afternoon comes so fast.
Anyway things went great in the tournament. Preston tied for 1st place in the qualifying round with Josh Henderson. Simply some of the best pinball playing I have ever seen this year. The competition was through the roof with talent.
Preston ended up coming in 5th place and there were some epic battles. This group was so close in playing skills that there was a three way tie between Preston, Colin, and Garret on a best of three game match. They each ended up the round with 7 points each and had to have a playoff game.
We had lots of people recognize us from our Twitch stream we do every Sunday night which was awesome, and we got to meet and talk with so many great people, I could not begin to name them all.
Ed Robertson from the Bare Naked Lady's even recognized Preston and came over and started talking to him.
Later on Dennis got Ed to do a video recording for his daughter Kelly who plays the guitar and pinball. (super cool).
If any of my photos have transferred over from my phone I will post some below.
Looks great all set up at your place.
You will get a ton of enjoyment from that game, especially if you get the grabber working good.
People show up to our tournaments with no tourney experience all the time so don't worry about that. We just have a good time playing and talking.
Plus my dad is going to make another large batch of chicken and sausage gumbo.
Also feel free to bring a cooler with your favorite drinks.
It is really just one big party with pinball as an excuse to do it.
Can't remember if I posted this here already or not but here is our new wall of Sterns.
Quoted from Nevus:I'm really sorry to miss this. I have end of the year Cub Scout camp out with Henry. I see you wasted no time getting Aerosmith. I really liked it at the Texas show.
Aerosmith is awesome.
We have already live streamed it on our Twitch chanel the past two Sunday nights.
It is Sterns best code out of the gate in years.
Quoted from Mudflaps:I was absolutely torn between Aerosmith and RZ. Both really fun yet totally different.
I went with RZ because I already have 2 Stern music games and wanted to give Spooky a shot. Aerosmith is still high on my wishlist though.
Makes perfect sense.
luckily RZ and Alice Cooper just are not our cup of tea.
However with Spooky signing on to produce Total Annihilation, that could get interesting.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:Hope everyone had a great Easter! We are now up at the hospital expecting baby 4 in a couple of hours!
Nice.
But I think you are supposed to get a room.
Quoted from Spg101:Hey, I enjoyed meeting you guys and Preston today. I appreciate the hospitality. Waiting for a good sale on pork or a chance to hunt some wild hogs and I'll make some sausage! Typically I make 50lb batches and can make multiple flavors; English Bangers, hot Italian, sweet Italian etc. we'll have to have a grill out or smoke some brisket or pork butt. Here's a pic of my smoker. If you know where to get some pecan or red oak wood let me know! My brisket is so good you have to keep it away from the top of your head....... or your tongue will beat you to death trying to get a taste! Lol
I was going to say, my vote would be for brisket. And then I read your last sentence and that sealed the deal.
Must have some now.
It was awesome having you over today. Time always seem to fly by when I am chatting and playing pinball. We could have kept you entertained in stories all week long. lol.
Mmmmm, Brisket.
Sorry got distracted for a moment.
Snapped a quick photo of you at Colorado Canyon, but totally forgot to take any at the house.
Thanks again for stopping in.
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:I make a motion to add a pinball party and bbq to the Apr 30th GCPC Shoot Again Pinball Tournament event.
I'm willing to serve as Assistant to the Director of Pinball Parties & BBQs to help out as needed.
Perfectly willing to just enter the side tournament, not enter the main tournament, help track progress thru the brackets of the main tournament, help the chef keep an eye on the meat in the grill/smoker, etc.
Hmmm, BBQ and Chicken and Sausage Gumbo.
I like where this is going. lol.
Quoted from Spg101:Ok, I'm on the hunt for some "wood". my preference is pecan but willing to mix with red oak for the tournament on the 30th. Got approval from the wife and I'm going to be there. Hopefully the family tags along. Brisket depends on having good "wood". I have had no less than everyone ask me what I season my meat with and it's nothing more than salt. The seasoning come from the wood. I'm trying to smoke a brisket but one batch takes a hip high amount of good wood. If I can get good wood... I will smoke a brisket. Keep an eye out for boneless pork butt also known as pork picknick or Boston butt at a god price >$1.00 per pound and I'm a magician with sausage.. look forward to meeting everyone!
Amazing offer sir.
I hope you can source your Pecan wood in time.
If this all comes together it should be an epic tourney/party.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:What kind of wood do you need. I have someone who owes me. They have oak and pecan for sure. Let me know, I can get some for free.
Will be awesome if this works out.
Quoted from Spg101:I think Dennis and Leon could keep it warm after I get there.
Certainly.
Not a problem.
We have the rolls covered as well.
This will be the most delicious tourney since Nevus's
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Gents is warm up at 10 or tournement start at 10? Slight chance I may be able to make it? And what happened with all the wood talk?
The tournament starts at noon or soon after.
10 is just the earliest to arrive.
Most people arrive around 11:00 usually.
And it is always hard to tell how many people will show up.
Our average attendance is 15-20 but you never really know.
On the bright side there is big tournament in Oklahoma the same weekend, so a lot of the top players from Houston and Austin will be heading up there. Should be a chance for some new names on the winners list.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:What games are in the tourney? Not that I'll be any good.
Usually takes some hours to get through all the rounds. But we try to have it end by 7:00 or before, because people have to get back home some distance. Most pinball tournaments are an all day thing. But even if you had to leave early you would still get ranked in the IFPA point system just for participating.
The following games are in the tourney.
Jacks Open
2001
Grand Prix
Barracora
Firepower
Addams Family
Twilight Zone
Whitewater
Spider-Man
Game of Thrones
Ghostbusters
AC/DC
Metallica
Aerosmith
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Thanks I saw the 10 on your face book link so was wondering. Probably won't be able to make it but wanted to know the times incase I can. For the new guys I encourage you to go. You can play a lot in warm ups and you never know how you will do until you give it a try. Plus it's pinball not just playing but pinball talk.
Well said. The best part is swapping stories and meeting others who share this fun hobby.
Quoted from Spg101:Ok, while I don't have wood yet I have faith. I pulled the brisket out to thaw in the refrigerator for smoking Saturday. Plan is to smoke it Saturday night and put it in the oven at 200 degrees overnight. While not a purest smoking, it will work and have all the flavor. Looking forward to Sunday!
Sounds good to me.
There is a cold front coming in Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
Hopefully any rain will be gone by noon.
We will have a lot of first time players this Sunday. Awesome.
At least 6 that I know of so far.
Nice to get some new faces in the group.
Quoted from Leakyfaucet:Do yall drink anything at these tournaments? Should I bring something to drink?
Yes. and Yes.
Most people bring a small cooler with their favorite beverage.
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:No pics from today?
Here you go

Quoted from Jodester:Thanks to the Moncla Mafia for hosting a great tourney. Wish I could have stayed a bit later for the twitch stream.
Thanks Jody.
We would have loved to have you, but it was a long day and you had good reason to get back quickly.
Can't wait to do it all again though.
Quoted from TigerLaw:That would be awesome!
How did the smoked meats go over for the Beaumont party? Success?
Massive hit. We finished off the entire Brisket. We had little rolls to make Brisket sandwiches with.
Delicious
Posted our Game of Thrones on Pinside a few days ago.
Thought I would link it here for club members.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-game-of-thrones-pro-9
If you know anyone who would like this game we will work to get the price where it needs to be.
Leon.
Quoted from PavBall:I just wanted to personally let you all know I'm looking forward to the pin party on June 18th. tigerlaw and pinball-is-great discussed the details at length tonight and it sounds like it will be a lot of fun. A big thank you to jahpinwizard for maybe letting us borrow an EM for a day. Sounds like we will have over 25 commitments already, the extra machine will be really helpful. A big thank you to zukboy2002 for trophies. A big thank you to spg101 for smoking the meat and bringing it all the way from Houston. A big thank you, as always, to jodester for keeping everything running properly.
Pav
Nice that it is on a Sunday.
Hopefully Allen will be able to attend.
Quoted from TigerLaw:So, what are everyone's weekend pinball plans? I'm stuck in NOLA today, no pinball.
Selling Star Trek.
Quoted from Zukboy2002:CPU needs work, it has a smoked coil, it needs a few connectors on the CPU and a few switches. Playfield is really nice factory Mylar still on it.
I will take that on.
Sold, if you still have it sir.
Quoted from Jodester:You could sell 2001 to me to make room Leon!
Preston would kill me. Lol
Quoted from TigerLaw:That is an awesome fun fast game. Can't wait to see it brought back to life.
I just rebuilt a board on and F-14 for a guy in Port Neches. Lol
Quoted from Zukboy2002:It's yours sir
Thanks.
We will work out pick up details soon.
Perhaps a trip to Lake Charles could be arranged.
If not we will find some time to drive down there.
Quoted from Jodester:Just let me know so I can stock up my beer frig full of Lone Star.
Ahh. Allens dream.
Quoted from Jodester:Reminds me of the flames on my AC/DC topper...
So Shadow will be going away for a bit but Ripley's will be there in it's place. Looking forward to having the group over for either competitive play or just an afternoon of pinball.
We are going to need a chart just to keep track of where all of your games are. lol
Quoted from Spg101:Thoughts on a Gottlieb Circus project? The good: comes with keys, manual, new leds, and rubbers
The bad: Game won't start and needs a new 4th player display, has a few flake spots on the back glass
While I don't know pinball repair just from what I read I'm guessing acid damage $200-$300 repair and Display $300? Game looks pretty good for a 37 year old game, couple of cabinet scuffs but play field looks good? Quite a drive though and I don't think my pin skates will work. I think this is one of those big B@st@rds Dennis told me about.
Hard to say without seeing it.
But we used to own a Gottlieb super wide body Genie.
Yes they are very very wide.
Also be aware that the connectors for all the boards in the backbox usually need to be re done which is no small task.
I have not checked to see if new boards or displays are still available for that game. I would google Gottlieb system 80 boards and displays and see what comes up.
Gorgeous game though.
Quoted from Spg101:Apparently it was a good deal. I reached out right after I posted and was pending pickup so I asked to be second in line. Seller took the post down so it's gone now. I'm sure I could repin connectors if I needed to, my biggest problem is finding time. My kids helped me re solder some capacitors on a board in a TV. Only reason I needed help was I couldn't read the ratings on them and needed some "young eyes". Heck my Pins were only turned on twice this week. I'm looking forward to the Romp in the Swamp. Is there somewhere i need to go to register? I also need an address or i'm going to be driving around Lake Charles gorging myself on brisket looking for somewhere to play..
That is hilarious.
Just PM Tiger-Law and he will let you know.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Awesome! Everyone keeps telling me how great the food was in Beaumont, can't wait to have some of it on June 18th!
It was beyond belief good.
Preston and I are leaving for on a cruise out of Miami at the end of the week, but we will be back around June 4th.
Looking forward to heading over to Lake Chuck to play pinball, eat, and hopefully pick up the F14.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Awesome! This is the third pin exchange that is going to be happening at Romp III that I've heard of. My neighbors are going to be like: "I wonder what they are really transporting in those cabinets". LOL
Glad y'all can make it!
I have not confirmed with Joshua yet that this will be ok, But it is the easiest way if he is coming and it works out for him.
Quoted from Jodester:I hope you guys are cool keeping Tron a bit longer. I am having a blast with Spidy.
Funny. We were just playing Tron as I read this. Lol.
No hurry.
Enjoy Spider-Man
No worries.
Twitch likes you to be logged into their system or through Facebook to chat in the chat room
Hey Seth, I just saw that a BBQ place in Tomball made Texas Monthlys top 10.
It is called the Tejas Chocolate Craftery.
Have you tried it yet?
Quoted from Zukboy2002:I can bring it no problem
Good. Because I can bring cash even easier.
Quoted from Spg101:Well, there is a new addition to the collection. We bought an SS Solar Ride for $150. OP said it powered on but wouldn't play, when we got there it would power up and play... sweet! When we got it home not so much. We have started with the basics and my son is learning how to operate a DVOM. She doesn't work right now but seems like a deal. He wanted an EM machine and it's close, early SS. Here is a couple of pics while we diagnose. Oh, Leon., pin skates are freaking awesome!!!!
Awesome deal sir.
Let's see some photos of the playfield and backglass.
And yes pin skates rule.
Also be sure to check out this Gottlieb System 1 owners thread.
Lots of good info and people that can help answer your questions about the game.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/home-for-the-gottlieb-sys1-sys-80b-guys-yep-i-guess-it-a-club/page/29
Quoted from Jodester:Playfield looks pretty nice on that machine. There have been discussion back and forth on the matter. I have used Novus 2 and it works well for a light cleaning.
I agree. The playfield looks really good.
Novus 2 should do a great job cleaning and shining it up for you.
I see the reds are leaving on the backglass. Very common issue. Really not a lot you can do about it.
Enjoy your new game and consider yourself very lucky. It's almost never "Just a fuse". lol
Oh, and post your pics in the Gottlieb system 1 club thread I posted a link to above. Those guys will love to see it and will have lots of good tips for you about that game.
Just got back from our week long cruise in the Bahamas.
No pinball, but I can't say we missed it much.
We went to a private island, St. Thomas, Grand Turk, and Puerto Rico.
Some of the best snorkeling and food ever, not to mention the views.
Quoted from Nevus:Heading to Florida Saturday!
Don't worry I'll eat your Brisket portion.
Just got up.
Will are all meeting at my place around 9:00 to load up grab a breakfast sandwich and head out East.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Cindy looks like she will go right up the Sabine River...yikes!
Romp in the swamp could be for real tomorrow.
Quoted from Spg101:Hey, I have a chance to purchase a 2001. My son has been wanting one ever since our first tournament. Is $400 for this machine too high? He said it was working fine and then just stopped now just makes a humming sound. Looks rougher than I originally thought. guy is selling his whole collection.
$400 is about right in that condition.
Looks like it could be fixed up fairly well.
If it is a pin you really want they do not come up for sale very often.
I think you are safe at 400. It is a title that is easy to sell. We have had crazy offers for ours.
That backglass alone, even if it is a repro is worth about $250 to $300.
Quoted from Jodester:LOL! Maybe we should change that rule to never more than 3 games at a time. We gotta let everybody else have a shot at the games for sale. (Looking at you Monclas)
I was going to say earlier that it looks like Jody is out doing us on changing up the collection.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Any one from the mafia going to make Josh's tourney this weekend?
My wife and I have plans and Preston has been to Austin the past two weekends so he has to work.
And Allen is always out on any Saturday tourneys.
Really wish we could, it was a lot of fun last year.
Quoted from Jodester:That should give other folks a chance without Preston being present.
Yea. I thought about that. Lol
Quoted from Zukboy2002:The good deals are still out there fellas.
Nice.
We used to have one of those back in the day.
Is it working or a project?
Quoted from TigerLaw:A nice Sorcerer just popped up in Bama at a really good price (someone should scoop that sucker up):
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-sorcerer-3
It does look really nice.
Allen would love that game.
Quoted from Nevus:Hey guys and gals. I didn't post this in the other threads as I didn't want to deal with the negative Nellies, but Henry and I played the first Star Wars Premium off the line at Stern today. The same game that was on the Deadflip stream. We only played a few games, but we played with Steve Ritchie. It's really neat seeing the balls shoot around that hyper loop! Overall, I was impressed.
Also, walking around the factory with him and seeing all of the various quality controls was impressive. I know stuff gets missed, but seeing the process from beginning to end is special. Although I only saw the previous facility once, the new factory is amazing. I was truly impressed.
Nice.
The new factory is amazing. We did the tour last October.
Looks like you guys had an amazing time.
We still need to get our Oct. 1st tourney listed with IFPA.
Preston does it for us but he tends to put it off till the last min. for some reason.
Anyway, I just got my F-14 CPU board back from Chris Hibler. It had battery damage and some transistors had burned so badly that there were no traces left on the board. (Well beyond my repair skills). He did a fantastic job at a reasonable cost. We are back on the road to a working F-14.
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:Hoping members of GCPC make it thru the hurricane winds and rain ok. A bit surprised I'm not seeing any chatter on here about Harvey. Some places in SE Tx and SW La are supposed to get rain for days.
Dont park by any old water oak trees.
Hope you all are stocked up with refreshments, including Fanta and some select deli meats.
Love the Fanta and deli meat reference.
So far so good in Beaumont.
Very light rain only all day.
Hoping for the best as we have days of this to get through.
Really getting crazy.
Storm now expected to go back out in Gulf then come through somewhere from Houston on East.
It's like the nightmare that will never end.
Quoted from Jodester:I got a bit of water in my sunroom last night. I rearranged the sandbags to keep that from happening tonight. (I hope)
My game room is high and dry.
Exact same situation here Jody.
We had some drips in our add on Sunroom as well.
So far all games are great.
Fingers crossed.
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:Talked to one of my friends over in Houston via text a hour or so ago, he and his wife are doing good collection okay. He said A collector a few miles from him lost most of his games. I asked how others in the HAAG group were doing he said most others are doing okay.
Had my wife check Game preserve face book page ( I don't have a face book) and looks like they are okay and have been opened.
Any one else hear from our friends in Houston? I hope they are all doing okay.
Been talking with Phil Grimaldi, Rusty Keys and Keith Christiansen.
All are good but Phil had water knocking on his door.
Things are the worst ever right now here in Beaumont. High winds and relentless rain. All highways closed in and out of town except I10 East. Never in my life have I witnessed anything like this.
Allen has lost everything. Entire house under water. This is insane.
This was his house 12 hours ago. It is much worse now.
Quoted from Jodester:Windy tonight and raining sideways.
Dennis, are you guys OK in Beaumont? Looked like the water was rising earlier in your neighborhood.
So far we are good. But the city overall is flooded. Still coming down hard with 40 mile wind gust at the moment. Just won't stop.
We will do the same with our Oct 1st tourney.
Allen did indeed lose everything even his pickup truck and Tahoe.
He truly needs all the help we can muster.
I would say yes for sure.
We still have no mail delivery though.
Hopefully that will resume in a few days.
Well. Looks like we did not escape unscathed. First of all all pins are fine.
Yes, even your X-Men Jody.
But turns out water crept under the carpet fairly far. But it never got high enough to see it. The damage is mostly to the large windowed section of the room and some over by the door to the back yard. We have moved every pin that had damp feet into the den and started the process of ripping out the soaked padding.
Now have to wait on insurance adjuster.
No telling how long.
We will know in a week or two if our Oct. 1st tourney will need to be moved.
Still planning on it but we shall see.
Quoted from Nevus:Red River Replay is one week away!
See you all next Saturday.
https://pinside.com/pinball/events/red-river-replay-2017
Wish we could make it.
But to much clean up here in Beaumont to get away.
We will most likely be postponing out Oct 1st tourney as well.
Our gameroom is torn up and the first of two adjusters is not even going to make it to us until Sept. 13th.
Quoted from PoBoyPinball:A big thank you to everyone with all of your donations to include all of the winners donating all of their winnings we raised $355 dollars yesterday for Allen and his family thank you all.
Amazing.
What a great group.
Looks like our tournament here in Beaumont will not be happening Oct 1st for sure. We are still a week out from FEMA getting to us to even let us know what can be replaced.
We had to have State Farm come out first and that took forever as well.
So look for a reschedule to sometime in Nov probably.
We are rescheduling Oil City Open to Sunday Nov. 5th
Hopefully most of you can still make it.
So you can free up Oct 1t from your calendars.
Posting this here first to try and keep this great game local.
Going to sell our 1961 Gottlieb Flipper Parade. Asking $550
This game is in great shape and plays great. Even the nickle coin slot works perfectly.
Here are a ton of photos of the game. We got this one with a Williams A-Go-Go but can't keep both.
I will wait a bit before posting it up for sale on the other places.

Added over 7 years ago: Game is sold
Quoted from TigerLaw:Is that really a 10 ball game?
Can be if you are good enough.
It is an add-a-ball game.
Quoted from Mudflaps:Having a beer and fixing some pesky LEDs. What’re ya’ll up to?
Not much with pinball because our games are scattered everywhere while we wait to re carpet the house.
Both Full Throttle and Flipper Parade are now sold.
Certainly needed the space.
Amazing how fast these things can pile up.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Who is running the tourney this year?
Phil Grimaldi from Space City Pinball league is doing the honors this year.
Posted these photos on the Facebook page but wanted to share here as well.
We just got our new carpet installed today and got all the games back in place.
Also finished our trophy shelf and got some more backglasses hung up.
Hope some of you can make it to Beaumont for the tournament Sunday Nov. 5th.
