    Quoted from scottslash:

The 25th at Nevus’s is back to looking iffy for me. Darn kids are starting to have babies again!

Bummer bro. We will miss you at the tourney this Saturday (we have four people coming from Lake Charles).

Shoot me a pm and let’s meet up when you come to Lake Charles. We can discuss your TSPP and I can try and convince you to take my RFM as a partial trade.

    1 week later
    #2416 6 years ago

Creating a couple events in Lake Charles.

Friday, April 6th, the Hilliard family will host: Friday Night Special III; no side tourney.

Saturday, April 7th, PavBall and I will host: Welcome Back To Louisiana as a main tourney with a Classics side tourney. (This is not Romp V, we are waiting for TNA to arrive for Romp V, but thought we'd host a tourney to welcome one of our friends who has been living in Philly back to Louisiana).

I hope some of you can join us for the Friday/Saturday tourneys.

    #2418 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

Doh! Wife and I are in Carbondale, IL that weekend.
    Sry we will miss those.

    Alas, we will miss you!

    #2425 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

    April 7th?
James and Theresa's 28th wedding anniversary.
Don't think I'll be making this tourney

What better way to celebrate a 28th anniversary than a pinball tourney!

    #2428 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

Scored some points today with a crawfish boil who knows maybe I’ll be able to make the tourney? Never can tell

That would be awesome if you could make it down. When we do Romp V (still not scheduled as I’m awaiting info on TNA 174 soon) we plan to do a crawfish boil at the tourney.

    #2439 6 years ago
    Quoted from Pinball-is-great:

Looks like Ark-La-Tex Pinball Club will have about 4 pinball machines set up together in our section in the free-play area.

Are we nearby the Pinside booth this year? Marcus is bringing a bunch of machines for the Pinside booth.

    #2441 6 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

Are we nearby the Pinside booth this year? Marcus is bringing a bunch of machines for the Pinside booth.

    Quoted from Nevus:

I’m not sure. I didn’t ask in advance.

Xerico , please see the above question and let us know if it is still possible please good sir. Thanks!!!!!

    #2444 6 years ago
    Quoted from Xerico:

Unfortunately, the show layout is finalized. Requests like this need to be submitted to the TPF Team by early February at the latest.

Alas, we will have to depend on luck to generate us some good proximity.

    #2448 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

You guys are killing me, I'm starting now to make my plans to go to TPF next year, no more covering for co workers. As soon as they set next years dates I'm putting in my request to be off

Oh man, we are going to miss you! Any chance of a late season sudden flu outbreak?

    #2456 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

    J&T 28th wedding anniversary tourney

The trophies aren’t made yet. We can rename the Side Tourney whatever we want to name it. “The J&T 28th wedding annivery classic’s tourney” sounds as good of a name as simply the classics tourney does to me. You’re for sure coming? How about the Mrs?

    #2472 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

    BBB is shipping out

Congrats on the sale! Where is it going?

    #2488 6 years ago
    Quoted from Pinball-is-great:

    Yes. October 19 & 20, 2018.
This was announced at/during TPF weekend.
Edit: at a new location with a lot more floor space

We booked our hotel room yesterday for HAAG. Super excited to check out the new hotel for the event.

    Quoted from PavBall:

You need to let Josh know so the trophies reflect the name change for the classics division

Yes, I’ll reach out to him tomorrow.

Speaking of Friday Night Special III, I believe we decided to hold that event at the office instead of the Hilliard’s home due to Kristine and Benjamin having an out of town appointment they were not expecting. So the event is still happening on Friday, just at the office instead (the two Saturday tourneys will be at our house as has always been planned). We will post a sign at the Hilliard’s home with the new address should anyone show up there by mistake on Friday.

    #2490 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

Can you PM me the office address, I'm going to try make both Friday night and Saturday tourney. I haven't been to the Office

Sent! If anyone else needs the address please pm me or text PavBall or Jodester. Thanks!

    #2492 6 years ago

    Happy Easter Gulf Coast Club.

    #2494 6 years ago

Revenge From Mars is heading to Vegas. I hope you enjoy the game ThomasH

Seawitch is coming to Lake Charles. Thank you Xerico

    ----------------------

Regarding the Friday tourney: Starship Troopers will be added to the line up at my office courtesy of Ferdinand (who will not be able to attend due to recent fatherhood and lawschool tests). So the Friday night tourney will have five games.

Pinball-is-great what time does the Saturday tourney start? The Mafia is going to show up early and install Twilight Zone and take The Walking Dead. So, TWD will not be in the tourney, late arrival for the tourney is Twilight Zone. I do not expect any other different games than I normally have gang, but do be advised WH2O is still in my collection and DW is not.

    #2497 6 years ago
    Quoted from Mudflaps:

Does this game have a wizard mode?

They will drop that code update a week after you sell the game.

    #2507 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

What time can we start showing up at this weekends tourney's? Friday's and Saturday's

Y’all can start showing up just after 5pm on Friday. I’ll be here waiting to great whoever shows up.

    #2509 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

    New arrival today! Super excited.

Congrats on the new game! We are going to miss you and Henry at the tourneys this weekend.

    #2512 6 years ago

The Friday Night Special 3 tourney looks like it will have a surprisingly decent turnout. Many of the people that have been participating in our office league on Tuesdays have decided to come compete on Friday.

So, if y’all are coming on Friday you may meet some new people that enjoy Pinball and are making their first steps in the hobby. Everyone can feel free to start showing up just after 5pm (and we will likely let people show up as late as 7:30pm [or possibly a little later if warned in advance] and still get their qualifying games in) if you need the address please let me know.

Bring whatever you want to drink or eat on Friday. We have a kitchen in the office with a microwave and a fridge and what not.

    #2517 6 years ago

    #2519 6 years ago

14 people showed up in total. Good turnout. Congrats to Jodester for taking first place. Well earned.

    #2523 6 years ago

Remember to squeeze as many cars into my driveway in two rows as possible gang. Thanks.

    #2526 6 years ago

Special thanks to Gexchange for getting me the part from Stern necessary for the Pin Doctor (aka Jodester) to fix my Metallica even though it was out of warranty.

My next NIB will come from JJ for sure.

    #2527 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

Greetings from Carbondale, IL. Sry I have to miss the tourney. Henry was also bummed that we couldn’t make it.

No problem. Hopefully TNA will be here soon and then it is going to be the big Romp V tourney event.

    #2530 6 years ago

PavBall says we need ice if anyone wants to pick up a bag or two on their way here. Pizza will be here at noon for everyone.

    #2531 6 years ago

    Tourney time. Oh, and welcome Twilight Zone to the collection. 92A2D107-C9EF-4B5F-8F1F-20594D51D6EF (resized).jpeg92A2D107-C9EF-4B5F-8F1F-20594D51D6EF (resized).jpegBDB2A8AD-613C-4521-9EB3-AE37CB154831 (resized).jpegBDB2A8AD-613C-4521-9EB3-AE37CB154831 (resized).jpeg6A9BB342-1AE7-4B2A-8A8C-61CAE4F6CC9B (resized).jpeg6A9BB342-1AE7-4B2A-8A8C-61CAE4F6CC9B (resized).jpeg

New IFPA tourney at the Lake Charles office. Friday, May 11th. I hope some of you can join us. Unlikely to be a very large tourney, but everyone is certainly welcome to join us.

    https://pinside.com/pinball/events/the-scales-of-pinball-2018

This is not Romp V. Romp V. will be in the summer some time, this is just a Friday after work quicky

    #2542 6 years ago

Any one have any Pinball plans this weekend?

Medusa is heading to Jodester’s, hopefully we will finally get this machine 100% working and reliable for the first time in eighteen months.

Might make it out to the Mafia’s house Sunday for the weekly feed.

    #2544 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

I’m putting the latest Cleland code on TWD Prem

Let me know if you like it. I’ve grown to enjoy the Stern call outs and music but if you prefer the show call outs I might give them a shot.

Man, the little office league im running is really gaining some momentum. Some of the players we have are texting me Pinball questions. It’s awesome, I think this league may really take off.

    #2547 6 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

If you decide you want it on, just let me know and we can add it for you

    Add it, thanks!

    #2548 6 years ago

Medusa heading over to the pin doctor’s place. Hopefully we can get this game working as good as it looks.

    #2551 6 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

Cleland Code added to TWD Tiger.
    It is awesome.
Game is so much better with the voice actor call outs.

Awesome! I’ll see y’all tonight for the stream. Should arrive around 7:30 or so.

    #2555 6 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

    Great. Looking forward to it.

For the record I now (as of today) suck on my own TAF too, LOL.

    #2556 6 years ago

So, the Lake Charles Spring League is really taking off. We had 16 people show up at my office today to get their scores in. I must say, I’m blown away by the number of people that are coming every Tuesday for league.

PavBall, Jodester, and I have decided to bring a sixth game to the office for the league. When we get DW back (trying to work it out to bring WH2O back on Sunday to the Mafia and pick up DW then) it will go to the office...which will leave my home collection rather depleted till Maiden and TNA arrive.

    #2561 6 years ago
    Quoted from cadmium:

Have the results from the April 7 tournament been submitted to the IFPA?

Yes, they are backed up a bit it seems. Also, I sent the payment in via check in the ma instead of online through a credit card and this also has caused a delay. Hopefully the results post by Friday.

    #2563 6 years ago

We were in NOLA today and visited one of our friends and played some pinball this evening.

    PavBall really enjoyed CSI.

    #2564 6 years ago

What are everyone’s Pinball plans this weekend? I’m heading to the Mafia’s on Sunday and swapping back WH2O for DW. Then we will set up DW at the office later that day for the league.

I’m going to have three empty slots at my casa, two of them are being claimed by TNA and Iron Maiden, what game will fill the third empty slot?

    #2566 6 years ago
    Quoted from Jodester:

WOZ would look nice in your collection. So would BM66...

Yes, they would look great, but gosh they sound expensive!

    #2574 6 years ago

Heading to the Mafia’s now to return their super nice WH2O and be re-united with my Doctor Who.

The office now has six games. The triumphant return of Doctor Who to where it was unboxed has finally happened.

    #2578 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

    Catacomb looks great

Jodester got it playing extremely well too. That game is really dependent on having lively pops and good spinner action. Also, I’ve never seen an early 80’s game where understanding the rules was as important as Catacomb.

It’s fantastic and I’m loving classic Sterns more and more each year.

    #2580 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

They must be waiting for the check to clear before they post the results?

As of this past weekend the check had still not been deposited, perhaps it got tied up with tax return checks or just lost. I’m in touch with the ifpa, if the check doesn’t arrive by the end of this week I will pay it online and if the check arrives later just take a credit. It is four events they have for me (one league, two mains, and a side).

    #2581 5 years ago

It is looking like Saturday, June 23rd for Romp in the Swamp V.

Will get with Jodester, Pinball-is-great, and PavBall on the events and let you guys know. Will reach out to Sean and see if he can do the main meat dish.

    #2593 5 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

"for all you non Facebookers" Me

any pics from yesterday and the winner's were?

Me too!!! Get to posting some photos and a report gang.

By the way, all four Louisiana events that were hung up pending payment should post today. The check never arrived at IFPA, apparently, but I went ahead and took care of it online.

    #2594 5 years ago

Unboxed an Aerosmith Pro tonight for my dad (after lugging that sucker up some serious stairs...that turned). Had fun and of course glad to have another pin in Lake Charles. Thanks to Gexchange for another smooth transaction.

Let me know if any of you all plan to make it out on Friday for the office IFPA tourney in Lake Charles. It’ll follow the same format as the last friday night event in Lake Charles. I hope to see some of you. Thanks.

    #2608 5 years ago
    Quoted from Jodester:

What part of me did you want to see? JK...
What time does it start again Tiger

Eh, people can come and get scores in starting at 5. It’s best game format so someone can show up as late 7:30pm (if I know they are coming) and start. I figured the top four playoff will likely begin around 8:30 or so.

    #2612 5 years ago

And the winner of her first ever IFPA tourney tonight (with 17 people showing up to play) was . . .

    PavBall

    #2616 5 years ago
    Quoted from spanks_4:

When's the next tournament? For some stupid reason I'm debating on getting back into the tournament scene.

The weekend of June 23rd will have some stuff in Lake Charles. The more the merrier. The Saturday will have most of the tourney action but there will be something either the Friday or Sunday as well for those that are traveling in and want a bit more than just one day of Pinball.

    Hope to see you there.

Can anyone guess what machine myself and Pinball-is-great are bringing back to LC currently?

    Quoted from action76:

Nice pickup TigerLaw! If Pav ever gets tired of it, you've already got a buyer because Jessica loves that game too! She might make me take a trip to the LC area next time there is a tournament just so she can play it LOL

Gosh, that would be great if y’all could make the June tourneys. We’ve set up a Friday night tourney on June 22 at the office location with a side Tourney, then the big Romp in the Swamp V event on June 23 at the house. We’d love it if you and Jessica could make it out for those.

Currently at the Tiger house we are trying to figure out the rules of CSI. Tomorrow Nevus is coming by to bring Ghostbusters and leave with Game of Thrones. C8F39D18-61A4-4757-B91B-2FDE07B08308 (resized).jpegC8F39D18-61A4-4757-B91B-2FDE07B08308 (resized).jpeg

So, any club members have any fun pinball stuff going on this weekend? If not fun pinball stuff, how about just fun stuff? Share some pics of your weekend.

    #2659 5 years ago

Anyone notice this group from Beaumont that delivers and sets up machines to Lake Charles? Who are they? I’m assuming they are a business since they take credit cards and what not.

    https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/ad/64267

    Quoted from Jodester:

So, I leave for a few days and everybody gets new machines.

    Welcome back!

    #2661 5 years ago
    Quoted from WavingWilly:

tigerlaw Please buy Creature from the Black Lagoon. It is the pin I remember from the local bowling alley growing up and the one I am dying to try again in person! Or maybe xq11 will take a liking to it and buy it?

You and XQ11 should go check it out. It's a short hop, skip, and a jump away. I'd wait to hear from Arcade on who the seller is though. He would know them if they are a new brick and mortar arcade/pin seller from Beaumont (which is what that ad indicates).

    #2662 5 years ago

In Lake Charles’ first ever non-IFPA sanctioned knock out style tourney, we had nine people show up and play through the grueling gauntlet. We had two people finish 1st and 2nd that had not previously finished in the top three of any Pinball event.

Medusa is back and is playing amazing!!! Major thank you and mad props to Jodester

This game has never played this good! Heck, he even drilled out the pingulp so it would finally fit with that massively thick powder coat job the game has.

    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

Did he fix that darn start button

Yes! And the coin door...And the drop targets...And the roll over switches...And the lights...And the flippers...gosh it had some gremlins. This game now plays as good as it looks!

    Quoted from WavingWilly:

tigerlaw I call shenanigans on your bogus tournament. The "tournament" has a giant asterisk as Joey was a loser and xq11 graciously forfeited his spot in the winners bracket. My score on Scared Stiff would've smoked any of the two winners. And to answer your next question, no - I'm not bitter at all

I dunno, I think Joey simply wisely maneuvered himself to be in the group that was most likely to have a spousal order to depart enforced on it...if so, that’s a skill of its own.

    Quoted from Arcade:

And yes they used your Walking Dead Tiger
They took hundreds of photos and interviewed us for over 2 hrs. We had no idea what would make it to print.

That’s awesome! Ha! Do you have a link the article?

    #2686 5 years ago
    Quoted from Mudflaps:

I talk about pinball enough at work that I may have a buyer looking for his first game

That’s awesome. Would love to see y’all Shreveport gentlemen get your league up and running.

Any major regional Pinball news this weekend? What is the mafia streaming tonight? Any new games pop up in someone’s collection?

    #2691 5 years ago
    Quoted from Mudflaps:

Does anyone have a T2 (or similar game in the $1500-$2200 range) they may be willing to part with? I talk about pinball enough at work that I may have a buyer looking for his first game. LMK

Consider looking for a Gladiators for your friend.

Still a sub 2k dmd game that’s not in huge demand but is pretty awesome and loaded with features. I think that game was originally supposed to be Zelda but they couldn’t secure the license and had to do a last minute retheme.

    #2695 5 years ago

Has anyone seen our friend and top level chef Spg101 recently? I’ve sent him a couple pm’s to see if we could lure him to LC for the June 23rd tourney but note he hasn’t logged in to Pinside since early April. Perhaps he is traveling for work or something.

Does anyone have food suggestions for the events on the 22nd and 23rd later this month? In the absence of BBQ perhaps we just do pizza. We are going to be missing a significant number of tourney mainstays sadly as there are a lot of vacations that week.

    #2710 5 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

So I think we all did this about this time of year last year or maybe even two years ago GCPC vacation pics. My wife and I Lake Minnetonka MN.

Yes, the summer vacation trip photos are quickly becoming a tradition for this club. PavBall and I will post some from Greece for sure.

By the way, Iron Madien premium arrived in Lake Charles yesterday. Total Nuclear Annhilation is now fully paid for and will be there before June 23rd.

    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

LC is becoming a pinball hotspot.

It is super exciting to see the growth of pinball in Lake Charles. I'm more excited now about the future prospects of pinball in SW Louisiana currently than I've ever been.

    Quoted from Arcade:

Jody has been on fire lately with pinball help.
We may have to get him a heating pad for his back.

He is the true Dr. Pinball and the leading reason of the prior mentioned growth in interest in pinball in Lake Charles. Big thanks to Jodester for all he does for our hobby in the area.

    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

Congratulations let’s us know how many you are up to by the end of the year. Once you get two they start multiplying.

Yep, I've warned him of that. Heck, if he gets just two more machines he and his wife could start hosting IFPA pinball events.

By the way @jahpinwizard , I know you are coming in on the 23rd, but is there any chance of you making it in on the 22nd for the two Friday night tourneys? Would love to have you Friday as well as Saturday.

    #2751 5 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

Not sure when I’ll be home from Oklahoma? Where is Friday’s tournament at your office?

Yes, office. Same format as last time so coming in a bit late is no worries.

Scared Stiff has left the office as of thirty minutes ago by the way. Lots of sad faces.

We didn’t take many pictures yesterday, heck, we were so exhausted at the end we didn’t even take trophy pics. Here was one pic we did take though of Mandy taking (eventual tourney champ) Preston down on TAF and a photo of TZ sadly leaving my collection and heading back to Beaumont:

    Quoted from WavingWilly:

    Quoted from radium:

I would like his vision better if it were on the east side of Louisiana instead.

You guys should move to Lake Charles. We just welcomed a new collector and very good player in from Texas who just moved here to our league this week. All the cool pinball people are heading to LC.

    Quoted from Mudflaps:

Thanks again Nevus for helping me bring another game upstairs. T3 is getting the LED and ColorDMD treatment

Nice T3! Where did it come from and what did it replace?

    #2851 5 years ago
    Quoted from Mudflaps:

RZ is out, T3 is in. It was a swap (plus cash) with a fellow pinsider. We each had to ship the game, which kind of sucked, but life is short.
I’m wrestling with the ColorDMD now and replacing what seems to be about 700 incandescent bulbs. I’ve got a pretty sweet topper on the way, too.

Sweet. When you are ready to move on from the T3 let me know, maybe we can swap something. We missed you at the last LC tourney weekend!

    Quoted from Pinball-is-great:

It would be great if TigerLaw brings his ipad and we use Brackelope software for the main tourney if we use double elim format.

Of course happy to do that if I can make it. I'm going to have check in with PavBall and if I can go (which I imagine I probably can) I'd like to ride with Jodester if he'll have me.

Just making a personal observation, it is a long drive for a single elimination tourney. In the winter tourney Nevus hosted, I got smoked in the first round by PavBall and that was the end of my tourney experience. Having a double elimination format at least gives people who get an unfortunate round one match up the chance of playing up through the losers bracket. To the extent you guys are soliciting input for tourney format, I vote double elimination.

Also, consider a Best Game format with a playoff for the side tourney. I have the software for that as well, it is what we do with our Lake Charles league events and if you guys in Shreveport like the format you can start using it for your league events as well. Best Game format has been a raging hit here and it's perfect for a side tourney.

    Thanks!

Hotel room booked for TPF next March.

I know it may seem early but I strongly urge any of you considering going to TPF in Frisco next year to go ahead and book your room now before Pinburg. The event hotel for TPF sells out right after Pinburg every year...they have rooms open now...

For those not on Facebook here are our standings after 3 rounds of Pinburgh
    After round 3:
    Preston has 21
    Leon has 27
    Dennis has 22
    Kelly 14

Wow! Excellent! You guys and gal have fun this weekend and keep us posted.

** Reliable Pin Shipper in Texas Sought **
    Hi.
I'm trying to arrange the transport of a pinball from just north of Austin to Minneapolis.
STI considers this origin to be "remote," and arranging a time to get there to pickup is a bit of big/time-consuming deal.
So, I'm asking Long-Horn Pinsiders what alternative reliable/experienced pinball shippers there might be with routes that stretch from Austin to the Upper Midwest.
Any suggestions/leads would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

Pinsider labnip May be able to help you out. Reach out to him. Thanks.

    Quoted from Arcade:

Well Preston was the #1 qualifying seed in B division. He gets a nice little $250 check for that.
He ended up finishing in the top 16

Where did you finish up at in A division? Congrats on making it there!

Though our summer league rages onward (just finished week 7) and we are having fierce competition this season, our fall league is now submitted to the IFPA calendar and posted here on Pinside. Please click on the events section and let us know you’ll be attending the event. If anyone knows someone in our area who may be interested in joining up please let us know:

Looks like tigerlaw and I are gonna do a temp swap -- my TSPP for his STLE -- at Red River Replay on 9/1. Looking forward to it!

PavBall is pretty pumped about having TSPP for a bit. She has wanted that game since 2014. My Star Trek is a premium by the way, though it looks like an LE thanks to Aurich

As an aside, for those wondering what is going to be replacing Star Trek up at the office for league...here is a hint for you:

    Quoted from scottslash:

Results from RRR4 have posted to IFPApinball.com! Yes, I'm excited! Debut at #7? Uh, yeah, I'll take it!

@jahpinwizard ‘s tourney is going have some pretty significant ramifications on the top 16. There is very little setting apart spots 15-28...less than a point and a half difference between spots 15 and 28...which is wild. No telling who is going to be in the final top 16 at this juncture.

This is easily the most competitive year Louisiana has ever seen as far as the IFPA is concerned. Lots of new players and new machine owners getting better each week.

    #3271 5 years ago

So, we’ve got two club tourneys coming up: November 3rd in Beaumont and then December 8th in Mississippi for that state’s first ever IFPA event.

Jodester , PavBall and I are uncertain whether we will do another LC tourney before year end, the three of us will make a decision on that by this time next week. PavBall and I will be hosting the 2018 Louisiana State Championships at our home.

    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

When does LC winter league finish up?

Right before Thanksgiving Week I believe. Would have to look on the calendar to confirm.

You should join us for league tomorrow night. It’s at the house (not office), would give you a good chance to warm up on the machines before the state championships. Due to events beyond our control requiring the cancelation of league last week, tomorrow will be two league nights played on the same day with ten different games (two plays on each game) in play. Join us, show up any time after 6. BYOB

Did anyone grab that Seawitch that was in Lafayette? Great price on that machine assuming it was complete and functional.

Only $1,200. Cheapest desirable classic Stern I’ve seen in awhile.

    #3473 5 years ago

Booked the hotel room in Mississippi for the night before the tourney. It appears as though we will have five guys from the LC area coming in for the tourney (subject of course to change).

Let’s help our friends in Mississippi really kick off their IFPA program in style with a heavily attended event!

Well, tomorrow GB makes the journey back home. Benjamin and I got it loaded up tonight since Wendell and I are taking off early in the morning tomorrow to see Nevus.

I’m a big believer in packing up games thoroughly. Can you spot all the different items being used here (in addition to the two packing blankets) to help secure the game in its position and make sure it is safe and doesn’t bang the dolly on the drive?

Rumor has it that the no good Louisiana IFPA representative has clandestine plans to abandon his post and play in the Mississippi state championships instead of playing with the rest of us Cajuns. We must get out our pitch forks and torches and show him the error of his ways.

    #3561 5 years ago

Yikes! That’ll be a clean up.

I had glass break on scottslash ‘s TSPP a few weeks ago, luckily it was while it was being put on the ground and not over the machine. Was crazy, I was holding glass one second and the next second nothing...it just evaporated into a couple hundred thousand pieces.

The crackling sound the glass made for about a minute after it disintegrated was pretty wild to, I’d never expierenced that in the hobby before.

    Quoted from Nevus:

Tiger or Jodester can you make this a Key Post?

    Marked as a key post.

I think Jodester, PavBall and I are all flying. If Keith has my Catacomb finished in time it could potentially go there. If we are going to try to be by the Pinside booth (which is a great idea) we need to coordinate with Xerico

    #3584 5 years ago

Yep, I will handle that either tonight or tomorrow bro.

    #3585 5 years ago

By the way, if someone wants to bring an em to the state championships you are welcome to do so. We have enough games but an em is always a welcome addition to any tourney. No biggie either way. Thanks.

    Hello everyone.

Romp in the Swamp (I think it is VI) will be on Sunday, April 14th. It will have one big main tourney using the match play format similar to what the Moncla Mafia utilize (though it will have a small variant to their format). It will have one sizable side tourney using the best game format (probably four games will be in play).

If anyone wants to bring an EM that game would be welcome. I plan to reach out to Sean and see if he can do some of those bangers or otherwise cater the event for us.

I hope some of our friends from Mississippi can join us and I hope some of our friends from Texas can join us. We will create the pages and IFPA entries soon with more details.

*Note, I had to change the date above from the Saturday the 13th to Sunday the 14th due to an unmovable schedule conflict I had.*

    #3681 5 years ago

Yea, I haven’t been able to get ahold of Sean yet. I sent him a pm, I think he’s been pretty busy with work and hasn’t visited pinside as frequently.

    #3684 5 years ago

Romp in the Swamp VI is now up on Pinside and has been submitted to IFPA: https://pinside.com/pinball/events/romp-in-the-swamp-vi-plus-side-tourney-2019

Save the date for April 14th, should be a fun Sunday.

    #3687 5 years ago

Romp in the Swamp VI and it’s side tourney we’re both approved by the IFPA. I still don’t have the food situation worked out but I certainly will.

I also see that Mississippi is looking at having another tourney in April. Perhaps a group of us can head over in a single vehicle and stay the night before or something.

    #3689 5 years ago
    Quoted from cadmium:

The Dronets are a strong maybe!

That would be fantastic! I hope you all can make it. We’ve really been wanting to get over to you guys but it’s of course tough with a 2 year old.

PavBall, Jodester, and I are considering having a second side tourney exclusively on TSPP like we did during the Louisiana IFPA championships. TSPP is still resetting on occasion so it is likely not going to be in the main tourney but as a stand alone single best game side tourney (like it was at the state championship) it would do well. There would be no extra fee, it would just an extra IFPA event...it wouldn’t be worth many points but it would be a lot of fun.

    #3691 5 years ago

The four games in the side tournament are currently planned to be: Varkon, TNA, AFM, and QS. These four games are subject to change but they are the four shortest ball time games in the house at the moment so we plan to use those for the side tournament.

I do plan to add the extra side tourney for TSPP. Probably will do that tomorrow.

    Thanks!

Any big pinball activities happening this weekend gang?

    #3699 5 years ago
    Quoted from Mudflaps:

Listed my ST gang, though I’m pretty sure you guys all have one.

    #3703 5 years ago
    Quoted from Mudflaps:

I’m actually trading SW for TNA at TPF.

That is a good trade! TNA is incredible, best with friends to enjoy it with though.

    #3706 5 years ago

PavBall tells me she’s ready for me to trade/sell CSI. I really like the game and just put Titan bands and cliffy’s everywhere on it, it plays fast as heck...but when PavBall tells me to move on from a game that is generally the end of that games life expectancy in my collection.

I’ll list the game on Pinside eventually, maybe next week...not in any rush. If someone in our area has been itching for a CSI let me know.

    #3707 5 years ago

Alright, I have added the second side tournament and edited the event page on Romp VI to show it is included: https://pinside.com/pinball/events/romp-in-the-swamp-vi-plus-side-tourney-2019

I took the liberty of plugging in a photo of Megatron while I was at it so we didn't have just a blank thing for the event photo. LOL

*Please remember to check the attending box if you are planning to come. I am still working on lining up the food and that will help me to know how many people are coming.

    #3709 5 years ago

Has anyone heard from Spg101 in awhile? He has not been on Pinside. I’m holding open the food for Romp VI in hopes he may smoke the meat for us. Those bangers he did last year may well be the best smoked meat I’ve ever had. Thanks!

Minor issue with submitting the tourney results from Sunday: I accidentally used the wrong email address when registering the main tourney and primary side tourney (though oddly I used the correct email for TSPP side tourney...so those results should post tomorrow). I’ve had to email the ifpa and ask them to fix the email associate with submitting the results so I can submit the results. Might be later in the week before this gets squared away and the results are posted. My appologies for the delay. Thanks.

    #3800 5 years ago

A Friday night tournament on May 31st in Lake Charles has been tendered to the IFPA. This is not intended to be a big tournament (just a quick after work tourney on a Friday night), but everyone is certainly very welcome to attend. @jodester will not be attending this tourney due to a schedule conflict so if a game goes down during the tournament it really will be down. Here is a link:

    https://pinside.com/pinball/events/contraband-pirate-tournament-w-side-tourney-2019

I am unsure what game is going to replace CSI in the office line up (assuming, of course, it has sold by May 31st). I may move TAF to the office for league for the summer/fall or I may put Star Trek back up there. Greg has discussed loaning his Sopranos to the league for the summer/fall and @jodester has mentioned possibly loaning Transformers at some point. We do plan on changing up the line up a bit from the winter/spring league session.

    #3802 5 years ago

Alright gang, I submitted the results to the ifpa for Romp VI and the side tourney. My appologies for the delay and special thanks to Pinball-is-great for helping me sort out the ifpa submittal issue. Pinball-is-great does an absolute superb job as our Louisiana ifpa rep and it’s much appreciated. The results should post tomorrow sometime.

    Quoted from Bfults:

I saw on the IFPA website that Adam Becker is on vacation all week this week, so it seems unlikely either Shreveport or Beaumont will post till next week. Just FYI to those that have been checking.

Wow, happy to say we had 27 attendees to the Friday night tourney.

We only had six games in the main (and the tourney director neglected to turn off extra balls) so the total event went for four and half hours start to finish...but it was pretty awesome. We had people attending from New Orleans and had six competitors from Houston. Thank you to all those that attended and a special thanks to Elizabeth for helping me out with the scoring entry.

    Quoted from Arcade:

Preston sent it in a few days ago.
Sorry, he just plain forgot to do it, but they have the results.
    Should be up soon.

Many results posted yesterday (some very recent) but still not Beaumont. You guys should request your Texas IFPA rep Xerico find out what is happening. Preston should forward Xerico both the email confirming he submitted the results and proof he tendered the IFPA the fee, with that Xerico can figure out what has happened. Thanks.

Alright, I’ve submitted both the main tournament and side tournament from last night to the IFPA. I’ve already received the email that what I submitted is being reviewed and my account shows them as submitted and paid for and only pending review. They will post by Monday.

Really enjoyed meeting so many fine folk in Lower Left Louisiana. Thanks Tigerlaw for hosting!

Really glad you made it in. You are welcome any time.

    #3957 4 years ago

I have a conflict on this date. I could reserve and lock in any of the other three dates at this time. Thanks!

Well, we’ve had some pins moving in the Lake Charles area.

Congrats to Bfults on his first NIB pin, having another Deadpool in town will be awesome.

I hope you enjoy the CSI Dgiles ; we will deliver it to you on Saturday when we go pick up the BSD from ulmpharmd Speaking of which, thank you so much ulmpharmd for selling me your BSD, I’ve passed on so many BSD acquisition opportunities in the hopes you would one day sell me yours...easily the nicest BSD I’ve ever seen. It’ll be taking the slot in my home collection that Medusa has been in since 2016 and I do not see it leaving.

Medusa is back with HEP getting a tune up by the master himself before going to live at my office in Metairie as my only game there.

My Dragonfist sold to a pretty darn impressive collector out of New York. I’m sure getadam will enjoy the game as much as we have. Thanks to Jodester who is going to loan me a game (I believe he mentioned Solar Ride) to fill the slot being left vacant by Dragonfist until either Danesi 2 or JJP GnR are available for purchase.

Jodester and I are considering parting ways with our Seawitch at some point during the last quarter of 2019 and going in together on a Beatles Gold if it makes it into the Stern Rewards program, but we aren’t really 100% sure on this yet. Might still keep the Seawitch and send it to Keith Holbrook once he’s done with Catacomb, which should be soon.

    Quoted from Nevus:

Red River Replay will be Saturday Sept 14 2019 unless there are major conflicts with the regular attendees

PavBall tells me we have a wedding to attend on Sunday the 15th in Portland, Oregon.

I know I have work things the 24-28th out of town as well in September. I’m otherwise pretty open (but please do not feel the need to schedule around me by any means).

    #4016 4 years ago
    Quoted from PavBall:

Jodester and Tiger need to register the next league as the current one is ending in two weeks.

Done. Late-summer league starts on July 30th.

    #4020 4 years ago

Special thanks to Jodester for loaning Solar Ride to the league for next season. The game has taken the place of CSI up at the office and will be there for the league season beginning on July 30th (could someone select it as one of the games for the finals next week?).

WOZ is also leaving the office for league next season, big thanks to Speed who has let us enjoy this amazing game for almost 18 months now. We do not know as of now what will be replacing WOZ. We will try and make some decisions on that point over the next week or two.

    Quoted from Jodester:

I was using my mental powers to play pinball. I just wave my arms a bunch

That explains why your games kept mysteriously going down! You were taking the batteries out of the games people were getting high scores on. Telekinesis!

    Quoted from Bfults:

Great Event!!! I can hardly wait for the next one

You are only two machines away from being able to host the next event!

The Scales of Pinball 3 has been submitted for approval by the IFPA as a Friday, August 9th event at the office location in Lake Charles. There will be a side tournament. This tourney is a best game format tourney, not match play.

    https://pinside.com/pinball/events/the-scales-of-pinball-3-w-side-tourney-2019

When Greg and Janin have returned in the fall there will be a larger full blown Romp in the Swamp weekend of pinball events. This is not that, this is just a quickie. Come join us on the 9th of August.

    #4044 4 years ago

The Summer League results have been submitted to the IFPA electronically and are pending review and approval from Adam Becker.

The next Lake Charles league begins on July 30th and the next tournament is on August 9th. Thanks.

    #4046 4 years ago

That’s a pretty awesome guest list they have there. Kevin Nash would be the one I would want to chat with if I could only pick one.

    #4048 4 years ago

The league is up on the IFPA as well. State rankings have been updated.

    #4050 4 years ago

Courtesy heads up, The Scales of Pinball 3 may have to move from it's August 9th date to August 16th or an even later date due to a potential scheduling conflict on my end (work matter that has popped up that is outside of my control). I plan to email the IFPA and Pinball-is-great to see what I need to do to change up the date if they will let me. Otherwise, the event may be canceled. Thanks.

I should know by Thursday whether I have to cancel the August 9th date. I'm doing everything in my power to be able to keep this date. I've reached out to the IFPA and copied Pinball-is-great to loop them in to scheduling issue. I'll post here on Thursday with the final word. Thanks.

Alright, the change is official. The Scales of Pinball 3 event has been moved to Friday, August 23rd. Sorry for the inconvenience of having to move the date of the event.

You need to find him a Zizzle game for him to play.

I would totally pick one up if I could find one for the right price...but those things sell on eBay now for more than they sold when they were new...it’s crazy.

Just a friendly reminder, the IFPA approved moving the Scales of Pinball 3 from August 9 to August 23. Do not show up on August 9, no one will be here.

Looking forward to seeing you all on August 23.

Look how giant the arms are on the T-Rex. Not very realistic, but it sure looks nice.
