Yea, I'll give you a ring...I was actually going to see if either you or Jodester would want to be the tournament director for it anyway.

I can help if you want Tiger.

    Quoted from Zukboy2002:

    Points are up on IFPA

Not super happy with point distribution. I did put in that it was a double elimination best 3 out of 5, which was a change from our original format.

Plan to email IFPA tomorrow to see what I screwed up...

    #55 7 years ago
    Quoted from Noahs_Arcade:

jodester, i think the biggest issue was newer tournament players. 4/9 of the players didn't count towards the calculation due to not having played in enough previous tournaments (i think 3 or 5). under the current ifpa rules, your best bet is having as many 4-player matches as possible since that doubles the meaningful games for each round.
i didn't do the math, but the points look about right. the real solution is a quarterly bayou bash!

    That sound great to me!

    #56 7 years ago
    Quoted from Zukboy2002:

I'm thinking about doing a side tournament also for more points. Not sure what format we will use yet

    Is pingolf still allowed?

    Quoted from Arcade:

And for those of you who have been to our gameroom here at the house, here are some early days shots of what our lineup used to look like before we even knew you could have tournaments or pinball parties.
Notice the old paneling from the early days before the hurricane destroyed the room.

I am looking at that lineup with Indy, WW, STTNG, Totan and I am floored. Awesome pics!

    Quoted from Pinball-is-great:

I believe Jodster will be TD for your Aug 13th tournament, since I am TD for the Houma, LA tournament. I will be TD if necessary.
You & Jodster to register your tournament events on IFPA website by July 12th or sooner.

Yea, can do. We need to get the tourney registered next week on the IFPA website.

    Quoted from Nevus:

Red River Replay Sept 24th added to Pinside events!

Are we doing best 2 our of 3, double elimination?

I need to put the event on the IFPA website.

    #391 7 years ago
    Quoted from Pinball-is-great:

Could do best 3 out of 5 matches on winners side of the bracket, and best 2 of 3 matches on losers side of bracket. I like dbl elim format.

Tournament can get really long as we saw at Josh's with the format we used. It really makes it rough on those driving 4 to 5 hours.

Live Ghostbusters Premium pinball stream tonight. 9:00 P.M. CST
    http://www.twitch.tv/thepinballmafia
Join in the fun and ask any questions you may have live.
Game has build date of Sept 19th.
    No playfield date stamp.
All inserts still perfect and drop targets working really well. Almost no rejections.
So far we have added a Shaker motor, color captive balls, Stern Side art, speaker grill lights and cut out, and an airball protector plastic.

    Enjoyed the stream Leon!

    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

Couldn't make tonight's tournament but still had fun Red Devils won

I missed my sons band halftime show for the tourney. At least I got to see him play pregame before I headed over to Jude's place.

    #697 7 years ago

It was a great tourney Leon. Thanks to you guys for hosting. All the machines played well although pulling the side post on GoT and the flipper post in Spiderman were murder.

Cool. Who is running our May LC tourney? Have we uploaded it to IFPA?

I was unaware of a May tourney. May will be a lousy month for me to do much on the weekends. Seth has all the stuff for graduation and we head to Seattle at the end of May.

    #1152 7 years ago

Temporary or permanent? You need to sell me one of those older EMs when you get tired of them.

    #1310 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

Tiger, decide on a date? (cough) May 27 or June 10 (cough)

Tiger and my schedules have not synced this week. Hope to see him this evening after the Beaumont tourney. I will probably not be doing my tourney until July. I keep hoping my weekend schedule for home stuff/work will finally clear up.

    #1313 6 years ago

Thanks to the Moncla Mafia for hosting a great tourney. Wish I could have stayed a bit later for the twitch stream.

    #1318 6 years ago
    Quoted from Zukboy2002:

    Quoted from TigerLaw:

So, what are everyone's weekend pinball plans? I'm stuck in NOLA today, no pinball.

I "get" to work this weekend Tiger. Nothing better than 24 hours of heaven at the hospital.

On a side note, I finally put the new legs on Shadow and changed a couple of bad bulbs. Should be ready for its temporary new home soon.
When it comes back home, I plan to put it up for sale. I need to shake up my collection again...

    #1361 6 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

Maybe. What is wrong with it.
    Preston loves F14

You could sell 2001 to me to make room Leon!

    #1372 6 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

    Thanks.
We will work out pick up details soon.
Perhaps a trip to Lake Charles could be arranged.
If not we will find some time to drive down there.

Just let me know so I can stock up my beer frig full of Lone Star.

    #1376 6 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

I love that our little club has an active flame on the main page so often. Lol

Reminds me of the flames on my AC/DC topper...

So Shadow will be going away for a bit but Ripley's will be there in it's place. Looking forward to having the group over for either competitive play or just an afternoon of pinball.

    #1379 6 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

We are going to need a chart just to keep track of where all of your games are. lol

I can pull out a globe with pins. If I can do a swap with Mudflaps for Kiss, it will be another pin in the globe.

    #1404 6 years ago

I wonder when Josh sells that car to make room for 12 more pins...

    #1422 6 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

I have not confirmed with Joshua yet that this will be ok, But it is the easiest way if he is coming and it works out for him.

I hope you guys are cool keeping Tron a bit longer. I am having a blast with Spidy.

    #1431 6 years ago

An FYI for the group, I am putting Game of Thrones up for sale. It has lighted speaker grills with nice graphics in front, lighted flipper buttons, and mirror side blades. Game has no issues with insert ghosting, decals , or cabinet. I am asking $4900 with pics to follow in for sale thread.

    #1441 6 years ago

Playfield looks pretty nice on that machine. There have been discussion back and forth on the matter. I have used Novus 2 and it works well for a light cleaning.

So, I got a repreive to play pinball today while in Seattle.Took an Uber to the Seattle Pinball Museum. Seth came along but regretted his decision after 4 hours.

HUO Paragon somebody donated to museum. Cab was amazing. Got to play a lot of Dialed In, Hobbit, and Batman 66.

Games were in better shape than most of the other arcades I have visited. Very nice service tech there that shared some repair stories with me.

    Quoted from Spg101:

Sweet, Seattle is a crazy town. I covered Washington, Oregon and Alaska at one point. Would love to play some of those games.

There are a bunch of bars that have machines in this area. It seems to be a great city for pinball.

    #1469 6 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

Which was your favorite JJP game?

Lets just say I have a new appreciation for the Hobbit. I liked Dialed In a bunch but the game felt different quality wise than Hobbit and WOZ. The displays are way better on TH and DI than on WOZ. (Maybe just from age?) I recommend Cliffys on all the outholes on any JJP game. All 3 showed much more wear than the Sterns sitting right next to them.

    #1472 6 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

The DI being a prototype model that's been traveling the country likely gives it a different feel than a fresh production game will have.
Gosh! I'm jealous you got to go there! That's been on our short list for a long time.

Well worth the price of admission.

As much as it kills me, I am out for the Houma tourney.

    #1626 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

I've got a Target Alpha I've been meaning to list for just a tad more. It works 100% and is in good shape. I'm asking $650. Pics coming soon. It's about an 7.5/10.

I seem to remember somebody offering to buy it from you the week you got it. Now who could that be...

    #1628 6 years ago
    Quoted from Noahs_Arcade:

if you were already in line, it's yours. you should have kept the paragon another month!

My Hobbit should be here Friday. I won't cut ahead if Chris doesn't remember.

    #1636 6 years ago
    Quoted from ulmpharmd:

Jody, there is an unspoken gentleman's rule, never more than one new game at a time. I myself would never break this rule

LOL! Maybe we should change that rule to never more than 3 games at a time. We gotta let everybody else have a shot at the games for sale. (Looking at you Monclas)

    #1648 6 years ago

It really stinks that I work the weekend of Josh's tourney. My only consolation is that the Hobbit may be here by then.

Looks like GoT will be gone on Saturday too. Now I need to decide what to do with my spare pinball cash. Do I buy an Aerosmith or a Houdini or the infamous Star Wars...hmmm...

I will plan all my free time in the Shire once I get off work....

    #1663 6 years ago

That should give other folks a chance without Preston being present.

    #1666 6 years ago
    Quoted from TigerLaw:

The bummer is I have no one to hitch hike a ride over with.

Sorry that I work the weekend. It would have been a fun road trip.

    #1678 6 years ago

    Very jealous

    So, Jason 1st, Mike 2nd, James 3rd?

    #1694 6 years ago

Its hard letting go of games. Hated to see GoT go right before the new season of the series.

    #1696 6 years ago

Hobbit is shaping up nicely. I am still waiting to get the new warg bash toy from JJP. I must say that the game reminds me of all the maintenance nightmares from the past. (ST:TNG, TZ) I have tracked down 5 broken wires on coils and switches and adjusted the popups a bunch to get things playing well. The well worn playfield protector was cut off last night.

I will put my place in the running for the state tourney Mike. I plan to get a couple early 80's pins to level out all the dmds.

Maybe I could get James to bring one of his EM's to give things an even better mix.

    #1967 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

As deep as the trencher would go I think they told me it was 2 feet deep but it's more like 20 inches deep. Using 3/4" schedule 40 PVC same size that goes to the house. But this is much deeper in the ground then what is going to the house now. My plan is a 1 and done. Hope it turns out like that.
Should finish up tomorrow so far 290' of PVC in the trench. If no leaks will start covering it up.

Looks good James. Can't wait for an event over at your place.

At least remote them I don't think I have any battery's on boards any more (now I'll have to double check). I need to start going the Nvam route.

They are remote James. Darn things just started leaking. Duracell batteries with an expiration of 2025...

    #1994 6 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

Good deal much rather deal with a remote pack then acid damage on a MPU. I have
had the same thing happened with good battery's don't know why. Maybe we need to start going the Nvam route and be done with battery's.

Would you still have the extra translight for Laserball? John from the Gulf Coast bought one with a backglass worse than that one. Any interest in getting rid of it?

    Currently:
Ripleys back to Jason, Shadow back home
Skateball project home ( don't forget to bring it Josh)
    GB to Mudflaps, KISS home
Target Alpha to Mafia, ??? to home.

So, it looks like the results for the final tournament have posted to IFPA for the top 16 in Louisiana.

For those of you interested, the game lineup is as follows:

    Metallica Pro
    TWD Pro
    Tron Pro
    Aerosmith Pro
    Kiss Pro
    The Shadow
    Skateball
    Starship Troopers
    Target Alpha
    Another unknown EM

We will also have a side tourney on The Hobbit. It will be $5 to enter and a nice trophy will go to the winner. (Plus IFPA points)

    #2187 6 years ago
    Quoted from NicoVolta:

Headin' back to Dallas right now but not before making a stop at jodester's place in a few. Target Alpha isn't shooting straight... yet.

Target Alpha is playing great thanks to @nicovolta!!!

Hey TigerLaw. Is Game of Thrones color ready when the code drops on the 21st?
The photos so far look stunning.
Makes me wish we still had ours to try it on.

So, spike games can be done now. Gives me hope for KISS, and GB. I may want to buy an extra ColorDMD for whichever one I end up keeping.

February 6th weekly league event for Lake Charles will be speed location. 5:30pm start time. Four machines will be in play: high deal, AC/DC, Tron LE, Avengers LE. If a machine goes down XMen LE is substitute game.

Has to be one of the most lightly used shaker ever. Very subtle.
However I hear from people who have tested the new code that it will take the game to new levels of great gameplay.
Can’t wait till they release it.

I have not purchased one yet. I was hoping you would tell me it wowed you...

Making final adjustments to tourney games. Looks like a rainy Saturday..

    #2276 6 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

Complete and total Armageddon here in North LA.
    Schools closed
Air Force closed (Yes the United States Air Force is closed).
    Interstate 20 is closed.
According to Henry “It’s enough snow to make a pretty good footprint”. My wife was back and forth to the hospital several times in the night and says “The roads are fine, uggghhh!”
It’s a great day for Pinball!

Well at least snow won't be on the menu for Saturday. We will probably get some sleet later today.

I wanted to give thanks to all of you guys that participated in the tourney Saturday. Special thanks to Mike V for a smooth running tourney and Josh D for an awesome side tourney trophy.

With the exception of overheated flippers on Hobbit, all the games seemed to hold up well.

    #2332 6 years ago

A fair afternoon of fixing issues with a few games. Got the broken rubber fixed on Tron. (Time for a total teardown and shop job on that one.) Adjusted the TNT drops on ACDC pro and added another rubber behind the targets to keep ball from being stuck. Also, amazing how a trough switch that was sticking was the cause of my game loading 2 balls in the trough.

All in all a good day of fixing stuff.

It's yours when you are ready James. Going to need the room to shop a couple of Tiger's games.

There seem to be a ton of trades going on in the area. I have sold/traded a couple games with the guys in in Shreveport recently. Who knows if I will snag one of Tiger's games to keep it in the community...

I’ll be ready to trade SW after dumping a ton of money into it that I can’t get back, right before the massive code update.

    Quoted from PavBall:

I am making Tiger take a week off playing pinball. We possibly could locate a machine or two but they are not common in this country. Arcades are not common here except on a couple islands and those are all redemption based. I think he has a deep clandestine plan to try and sneak off with Phillip and Ferdinand who have both just arrived and scrounge around for a pin somewhere but he is on his own there and I am on to him anyway.
I know Tiger is really looking forward to the league starting up again in a couple weeks. Catacomb ended up being the game that came out to fit speed ‘s WOZ into the league lineup. We ordered the ball gate stopper for the bagatelle from cottonm4 and jodester has rebuilt the pop bumpers for more action and easier ball locks. Catacomb will be better than ever upon its eventual league return in the future.

I also fixed that spinner that was causing us issues. Game is playing great and is just in need of the bagatelle gate.

    Quoted from Arcade:

Hey Jody here is a copy and paste of the latest post in the Monster Bash Thread.
This is what we have been hearing rumbles about so I hope it is true.
"This just in on the rumor mill. Don't shoot the messenger. This is HUGE!!!!!!
Monster Bash Remake is going to have 2 full games in one. Very similar to a Bride of Pinbot 2.0 Players will be able to choose between the original game and the new enhanced game mode. This means you will get to play a totally redesigned Monster Bash. New rules sounds and animations. If this is true CGC hats off to you. This personally makes me even more excited to buy this game. New code and enhanced game play opens up the doors on many future titles that are begging to be finished/remade.
Looking forward to playing this already great game. Can't wait to see the redesigned animations on that giant LCD. And a kick ass animated topper is always a plus in my book. "

Whoa!!! Glad I already talked to my distributor. If the art package is not the holdup, they could actually be producing games for shipping.

Whatcha guys think about the Deadpool video? Great flow, sweet animations. Love the 90s video game vibe! Not sure if the callouts will get old, though.
IMDN on order, so I’m looking forward to that!

I hope you like IMDN better than I do. Played a bunch of Edwin's premium and the game just falls flat to me. His TNA on the other hand is a crowd favorite.

I liked the DP Dead_Flip stream. Shots look fun. My only issue is that I think it may be a long ball time game for better players. Could be a problem for tournaments.

Any thoughts on the Deadpool stream? Tiger only saw a couple minutes and I did not see any of it.

And yes, I like it to be cold when playing pinball.

    #2996 5 years ago
    Quoted from Mudflaps:

TNA is super, super fun. *However*, I feel like the lack of any real modes, coupled with just the 3-ball multiball, it wouldn’t last in my collection. I seem to be in the minority, though, because everyone who owns it, loves it. I only have a handful of games on it.
IMDN seems more my speed. While it differs from normal ‘flow’ games (Kiss, ACDC), it seems like it has enough to do to keep my interest.
Of course I turn over my collection often, so you never know.

I have six different games in my collection since the beginning of the year. Crazy turnover...

About TNA, it just keeps pulling you back in for one more game. The Coop mode is one of the coolest things about the game because everybody is cheering the other players to do well. Totally opposite to our regular competitive streaks. Game play is generally fast, much like Ironman.

    #3012 5 years ago

Killing bugs is great fun on Starship Troopers. Good choice for a first machine.
Good drinking game too, playing multi-player games with friends, with some trash talking thrown in.

    Speaking of drinking games...
This stuff is fantastic. TigerLaw missed the post fantasy draft card game and then the signoff.

A word of wisdom, never start out with 11% beer. It can only go downhill from there.

tigerlaw What pins are in play for the league tomorrow?

It depends Alex. Xmen may be out if I can't fix the captive ball issues.

I am pretty sure CSI, TNA, and Quicksilver are in...

    Quoted from Scott8806:

I just talked to zucboy2002 hoping to go see his setup in houma and then have him see Mine maybe trade off a few games for a little while just glad to finally meet someone around me and mandeville is real close I went to Johnny's pizza in Covington last week to play some pinball and they got rid of all their machines except a ghostbuster pro

Very nice setup. Josh has a great game room in Houma too.

    Quoted from Nevus:

I got a call and sold GOTG about 1 minute after hitting submit on the sale post. A second offer came in while I was on the phone. I wish all games sold this easy.
I’m going to look at Deadpool this Saturday!

Forget about Deadpool, I have a nice KISS pro to sell you. I will even "throw in" the topper!

(Quiet Mudflaps, don't mess up my sale)

    Quoted from Scott8806:

How much should a batman forever in good shape go for these days

I sold one 4 years ago for $2000 that was in nice shape. Market must be closer to 2500 now...

It is a super fun game...

    #3095 5 years ago

Call me crazy, but I like the movie and the pinball machine.

    #3118 5 years ago
    Quoted from Pinball-is-great:

Will Little E be making the ride up, or will he be busy playing w/ friends and family down in L.C.?

Little E will stay home with Pav. Big W is riding with us.

    #3134 5 years ago

Nevus, what were your views on Deadpool? Still buying?

    #3137 5 years ago

You are very welcome in the thread.

    'We are programmed to receive.

    #3140 5 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

    Addendum.
After a few more games, there is more music that varies. Some country with funny lyrics and a dew other styles. The end sequence music seems to be a bit random also.

Awesome! Now I get to find out if this might replace KISS. Can't wait for this weekend.

    #3167 5 years ago

    Tempest is sold.
    Centipede is still available.

I will bring up the cash for Todd. Worked out all the details...

    Quoted from Mudflaps:

The highlight for me was when Tigerlaw assaulted me with a soda in the middle of a great ball, causing me emotional stress from which I was unable to recover.

I told him to use cat urine. All he could find was the soda.

On a lighter side note, I am in the ER after our trip this morning. Looks like I may have eaten too much banana but bread from Mrs. Nevus and it is stuck in my small intestine. Hurray!

Due to improper lifting techniques I will not be moving any machines for quite a while.

Looks like I am stuck with my current lineup.

    #3215 5 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

I’m really happy with it. It’s turned out to be a lot of fun.
Art, music, fallouts, layout/flow, ramps and toys, animations are all very well done. I can’t sleak to depth of code other than to say it’s very early and I still can’t complete the mods so that not a big issue to me.

I was surprised how much I liked the game. It will definitely be the next game I buy depending on when MBr comes out.

Game has lots of fun shots and great callouts. The game didn't not have super long ball times either.

    Yeah, his arcade was bananas.

    Was he rocking 80's videos?

    #3288 5 years ago

That wire looks like it is in a super bind. I need to come by this weekend and look at it.

    #3291 5 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

    Jody to the rescue.
It is a wonder an issue that big can make it passed quality control.
Congrats on the nice looking game though.

Wiring harness got hung up on his Batman.(During shipping???) There was a wire hooked on the motor assembly that would not allow it to spin. After de-tangling and taping up a nicked wire, all is well.

Batman plays well but Tiger has it the game set at 8 degrees!

    #3295 5 years ago
    Quoted from scottslash:

And the tilt bob at the end of the rod too I bet! lol

Simpsons is beautiful Scott. I had not seen it during the unloading. I adjusted the pot for 5.1 volts to stop the issue Tiger was having.

Played a few games on it with no issues. I had a good game and put up 22 million. How the heck do you get to 300 to 400 million on the game????

    #3301 5 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

jodester = LC pinball Dr. I only see 3 bucks laying on the game so his rates must be pretty cheap unless you are paying him in beers?
I do see A roll of duct tape on the game so he must know what he’s doing.

I was on my second roll and third beer James. Or was that third roll and second beer...

    #3305 5 years ago
    Quoted from WavingWilly:

We were playing some pretty high stakes games. I encouraged the $1 buy in and promptly lost two of my dollars.

I think I lost 2 dollars on that deal since Tiger posted my bet and I won...

    #3316 5 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

I've got a few ad ons or the TNA. Plastic protectors, mirror blades, knocker, shaker ad speaker lights from the factory / PBL.
Side rail kit is on the way from Hooked.
Any other thoughts on this game? Im pretty excited!

How much was the speaker light addon?

I think you have all the bases covered with mods.

    #3319 5 years ago

Well, KISS officially left today. Time to decide what goes in it's place. Ideas???

    Deadpool?
    JJP POTC??

    #3323 5 years ago
    Quoted from PoBoyPinball:

I thought Batman was in the running? Is it out now that there is one in LC to play and you have easy access to it.

Out now that Tiger bought one. Trying to keep more duplicates out of LC. I wish I liked WOZ more. There is a nice one up for sale within driving distance.

He figured out the addiction of trying to get reactors right away. His best so far is 3.
I love doing co-op with him.

Co-op mode is the best feature in the game IMO. It is especially cool for new players...

    #3353 5 years ago
    Quoted from WavingWilly:

I think the reactor 6 is the highest reactor the Lake Charles TNA has achieved. It was tigerlaw & xerico playing a 4 player co-op together.

I got to reactor 24 once at band camp...

    #3356 5 years ago

Dang Leon! That is one very nice game. Very sorry to see it go. I got rid of my KISS and kept Aerosmith.

Deadpool is supposed to be delivered today.

    #3359 5 years ago
    Quoted from Arcade:

    Maybe Maiden or Munsters.
We still have Monster Bash on Pre order as well.
Did Deadpool make it in Jody?
If so let’s see some pics

Pics tonight. Set it up late due to poor help. ( Seth ) Played once with Josh and he almost beat me. Katana shot was about 50% so I need to adjust some things.

    #3362 5 years ago
    Quoted from Nevus:

I’ve been trying to do that for a while. Watching Henry reminds me that hand-eye coordination seems to be hard to adjust.

How frequently do you hit that shot Chris? I plan to check tonight that I am at 7 degrees or more.

    #3367 5 years ago

Pics requested...before and after speaker lights...

Oh man! I hate when glass shatters like that. It happened a couple weeks back at Edwin's and I swear you could hear the glass making popping sounds as it lay there on the floor.

    scottslash,
I can clarify about some of the machines in the tournament, but TigerLaw and PavBall can give a more complete answer.
    * Varkon will only be in the side tournament, and will not be in the LA State Championship.

Varkon may not be available. During testing last night, one of the flippers died. Will work on it Sat morning, but we may have to chose another game for the side tourney. (That game will not be included in tourney lineup and will be available for side tourney play through the day.)

    #3613 5 years ago

Varkon was to be the side tourney. It will end up being another game that will be taken out of the main rotation. That still leaves 11 games for the main.

Warm up starts at 11:30am I believe. Thanks all.
