Yeah, I've been a bit of a ghost. There's been so much NON-pinball for me these days.
But I miss y'all so much!
All this talk and activity with the LA and MS state championships is making me kinda sad.
Am committed to making at least a couple events in 2023. (And kickin' yall's butts btw!) LOL
Really, just hoping to get back in the swing and playin with y'all again! See you at TPF 2023!
March 11th tourney at Paul’s house. Come in a full fledged toga and your entry fee is waived. Please register through me and if you want a second person to verify your spot in line you can also register through the Louisiana IFPA rep Pinball-is-great (his data on attendees will be a day or two old though…so please PM me). We expect this event will fill up in a week or two, so please let us know if you want to attend as soon as possible while we have slots.

I am brining my Centigrade 37 and Astro to exhibit at TPF this year. Kim Vanderveen has always been kind enough to provide a space for our small club and friends to have games. If you would like our games grouped together, please add the following to your listing to assist her in setting aside some space.

I already registered my AIQ Pro, and just reached out to Kim to have it added/changed to ArkLaTex Pinball Club!

We do still have several slots available for the March 11th tourney. I do think they will fill up well before the event, so reach out to me if you want to come to make sure we have a slot reserved for you. We would hate for people to drive out to Paul's and not have room for them. Thank you.
Still some slots available for March 11th at Paul’s house. Let us know if you are coming. Thanks.
*Also, April 15th tourney at Brian’s has been submitted to IFPA for endorsement.
Lots of new games coming out.
What are you hoping to get?
Scooby Doo
Foo Fighters
Godfather
Galactic Tank Force
Final Resistance (P3)
Pulp Fiction
Non of the Above (Richard Pryor's pick )
Most or all of these will be available to play at the Texas Show.
Foo Fighters looks very cool and it is extremely tempting. I love the look of Scooby but I would definitely have to play it a while first as spooky titles are hit or miss with me. Godfather is not a theme I care about and the prices on JJP games are more than I would pay anyway. Once you pass the 4 figure mark I'm out. I'm interested to see GTF, it could be awesome or could be awful but I do love the build quality of AP games. Don't care for P3 games too much. Pulp Fiction is a theme that I would like but who knows.
Anyway, I just got my notification today that my GZ premium is ready to ship so unless I move some other titles, I am probably out of the new machine club for a bit...probably...maybe

I'm in on a Foo Fighters Premium! I don't ever buy before playing but it's been a tough year so I'm rolling the dice.
Also, can anyone recommend a good dealer in driving distance. I only know of one but they seem a bit deceptive at times so I'm shopping around.
I have good experience with FUN in DFW and know Craig the owner personally. They will have a large presence at TPF.
Many of my friends like Cointaker and Game Exchange, both are distant. I’m my experience, distance has not been and issue.
We had 12 players for the Lake Charles Marsh Madness pinball tournament on Sat March 11, 2023.
Big thank you to Paul for hosting.
We had a great time playing his machines, which had manufacturing release dates ranging from 1979 to 2018., about a 40 yr span.

Joysticks is always good, Charlie has a pro to play and his hospitality can’t be beat. Not sure if he charges tax out of state.
so, uh, I'm trying this out, kinda nervous...

Time to start making those plans for the 2023 Houston Arcade Expo.
I can add games to the game list. Let me know what you want to bring, and I can post it. In case you need to change it later, no problem, I can edit the list.

Quoted from epichoff:Played all the new games at tpf. My top pics are:
1. Foo Fighters
2. Pulp Fiction
TPF 2023 was one to remember. The volume of new and fun games is almost overwhelming.
I played, for the first time, seven new games. Between trying all of these and seeing my friends, I hardly played any pinball that wasn’t one of these. I have favorites, but each one was unique and fun in its own way.
Queen
Galactic Tank Force
Pulp Fiction
Foo Fighters
Final Resistance
Godfather
Fathom Revisited
Good friends and good food was the best part for me. We made 2 trips to Hard Eight and one trip to Hutchins BBQ.
C-37 was in the tournament and Astro won a ribbon on the main floor.
Im already looking forward to next year.
Mark your calendars for TPF 2024 March 15-17

How was the hotel? Was it too crowded? Are they for sure staying in the same hotel for next year?
Quoted from TigerLaw:How was the hotel? Was it too crowded? Are they for sure staying in the same hotel for next year?
The hotel itself was fine. I like the hotel but we have been there several years now and you can tell it is getting older in some ways. It could use a bit of revamping in some areas. I enjoy the breakfast and cocktail hour in the evenings. I also like the proximity of the gameroom to the rooms so you can bop back up if you need to for a quick rest or if you forgot something.
I am not sure what the status of the venue for next year is. There is a thread on facebook that started with what seemed to be a rude troll post but has sparked a long discussion about the size of the convention center and if they have outgrown it. Personally, I think it was a large crowd, especially Saturday, but I did not ever think it was so overcrowded that is was uncomfortable. I also believe part of the reason the crowd was larger was the unprecedented amount of new games that debuted here this year.
In my opinion, if a few things were done to change up the main room, it would be just fine. I don't want all of this to sound like I am complaining. I had a wonderful time! One of the best years ever. These are just some things I believe would make the show even better.
I have said in the past that I think it would be a lot better if all of the vendors had a separate room from the main gameroom. I love looking at all the products and parts and everything to buy, but I hate having try and discuss things with vendors and yell at them and strain to hear their answer in the very loud gameroom. Also, I find it hard to see all the vendors because of the floor layout and maze of games. Many times I found after returning home that some seller was there that I wanted to purchase from but never saw the booth. If they were all together in another room, it would make more space in the gameroom and be much easier to visit all the vendors.
This brings me to another point about the gameroom. I think it could be worlds improved if it were laid out better. There are way too many bottlenecks and odd choices that do not flow well at all. This may be in part to the vendors being in there and that would solve two problems by moving them (less space taken up and less people because a number would be in the other room). I go to SFGE every year and feel the floor layout is great. I never feel blocked it or stuck somewhere and have to walk around 5 booths to get to the next row of games.
Also, the load in and out situation is SO much better at the SFGE hotel. I know this is nothing the TPF organizers can change but the load out is pretty terrible. Load in is ok because it is spread out over about two days but everyone trying to load up and leave at the same time through the two truck max roll up door with a street right outside the door instead of a parking lot or open area, is a major cluster. We started breaking down my machines at 2:00 but didn't pull out of the hotel until 5:30 and I have a 7+ hour trip ahead of me. This really makes you want to say forget it about bringing games next time. Again, no fault of the TPF organizers just a terrible design of the hotel.
Again, I enjoyed myself immensely and will be back next year. I just hope they can maybe put some of these things in motion so it will be an even more enjoyable show.
Sorry for the long diatribe.
I definitely see all of your points.
Although I personally like the vendors mixed with the games, that room can (probably, based on the seminar room setup) be divided any way they like.
I could see dividing it in half or thirds. I’m guessing it would be quite a noise barrier.
As an exhibitor, Thursday and Friday are my favorite days. It’s a chance to see friends and catch up with folks before all the loud noise of the convention. It feels like a perfect reward for bringing the games.
I really like the hotel and surrounding area. It is crowded at peak times. I don’t see them limiting admissions, so I’m not sure what can be done.
