Hi All,

I made a bit of a mistake which I'm paying for now.. I had to replace the coil on my white water (multiball kicker) and had a coil that came with a diod installed where as the existing did not. After a quick google search I found an article saying that it's OK to leave the diod even if the original coil did not have one. Unfortunately, I assumed that the direction of the diod would be correct as it's factory installed and I quickly replaced it with the new coil, putting the leads in the same direction.

When starting the game, fuse f105 blew.. I checked all cables and tried again with the same results. Turning on the game energizes the coil and blows the fuse. So I did more research and found that the related transistor can die if the diod is in the wrong direction. I removed the diod and found that the Q76 transistor on the board is indeed not working any more. I have replacement transistors for the legacy board (TIP36C, TIP107, TIP102 etc.) but the transistor on the Rottendog seems to be marked as 1G45AB.. Also, other guidance suggest that if the TIP36C transistor goes, you should really replace the TIP102 one down the line as well but I can't even find the equivalent on the Rottendog board.

Anyone knows what transistor I should replace this with? I haven't been able to find this anywhere?! Feels silly to buy a whole new board just because of one or two transistors. =) I have emailed the guys at Rottendog as well but they seem to be on leave at the moment.

Thanks!!!

I’ll need to get a schematic out. I think he uses FETs on his boards.

That would be great! Thanks! When I replaced the original board with the Rottendog board I used the old board to practice my repair skills, changing headers and fixing broken paths... this came handy now as I was able to swap in the original board while I wait for a fix for the new one. So to my relief I'm still able to play White Water! =)
