I’m looking at possibly trying to get a neglected gotg from a local arcade, it’s in pretty rough shape. Is it possible to find an entire new groot sculpt? His upper lip is smashed in. Sorry, not a great pic, it’s a zoomed in photo of my 7 year old proudly entering her initials.

Quoted from Purdue:

We’ve had our NiB pro for over a month and really liking it with the exception of the left outlane drains. Everytime i walk away from it pissed off... hah. It’s just not fair.
I guess i’m gonna move the outlane post down. Never done that on a game but this thing isn’t gonna stick around otherwise.

I won’t judge, it’s a Borg game. Have you tried turtles yet? I had it for a couple months, surprised I never broke the glass on it.

What does the scoop protector from pinball life cost for shipping in The States? I’m having a hard time spending $40 to ship a $30 part to Canada.

This will be my first Spike 2 game. What’s the best way to hook up an external sub? On my LOTR and AC/DC I’ve just tied into the cabinet speaker. Is there a line out on the newer games?

Quoted from applejuice:

So, all tests completed and no issues reported. Here are the v109 links for my version.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/95e5kifa0zlse6b/gotg109le-mypinballs-v120.img?raw=1
Also, as been asked a few times now, If you would like to reward my effort in sorting the v109 update out and support my pinball business generally see here for a donate button. There is also more detail on the changes made and ordering info if you want a pre-setup SD card etc:

I’m assuming one version is Pro code and one is Premium/LE. Is this correct, and does anyone know which is what? I’m looking for the Pro code.

Quoted from PinMonk:

What are the differences?

Are the differences between the two that cleland code runs the extra songs during the mode and applejuice runs the extra songs when out of mode? Both have the same callouts I believe, correct?
I have applejuice code ready to go for my game that’s supposed to show up Monday.

Finally joined the club with a NIB from the last run. Really enjoying this game, especially with the extra songs and proper callouts with the applejuice code.

I feel like the scoop eject should be safe, but I find if I try get it to bounce off the left flipper to the right flipper I’m getting a lot of balls running up the right inlane and out the outlane. If I turn the power down one it drops it between the flippers. If I loosen the scoop is there room to adjust it a bit? How are others setting it up?

Looking to take advantage of the Titan sale. Any pictures of different color rubbers? Trying to decide between blue and purple. I see the slings are 2” on GOTG rather than the common 2 1/4”, although I’ve seen some users say they still use 2 1/4”. Any thoughts on which size to get? Thanks.

#7272 1 year ago

Check Walmart for sd card prices. In my town they are almost half the price compared to Best Buy.

Quoted from mannymasy:

Does anyone know where I can download the latest cleland code? I think my gotg pro will arrive next month and I would like to have the sd card ready. I wrote a message to cleland but I didn't get a response, I guess he's busy with other things. Greetings and thank you.

I just recieved a link from cleland
a few weeks ago. I’ve forwarded his message and link to the code on to you.

#7368 1 year ago
Quoted from nagamitsu:

From my understanding, he only has 1.09 code still, as they are working to get the newer code usable in the software editor and it's not compatible or usable with the new code yet. So I assume you got link for 1.09? If 1.11 I'll need to message him as well.
Tim

Correct, 1.09 code is still his most current.

For those with the new run games, is there a kit or has someone looked into a way to add lights to the punch outs in the apron? The game is pretty well lit, but could use a bit more up the middle.

#7430 1 year ago

I’m pretty sure all new Sterns come with lighting there now, even Pros. But because GOTG originally didn’t have it, Stern didn’t add it to the new run. Just like Stern Pros now come with the proper service rails again, because GOTG originally shipped with pegs the new run does too. Obviously Stern only has plastic aprons with the punch outs for the lighting, they just put a cover over the hole.

Does the SD card for the Cleland code need to be 16gb? I can get a 32GB shipped free and a lot faster from Amazon

32GB works fine. It’s what I’m using.

Does anyone have a CLIP plastic protector set from Mezel Mods they’re not using? They say they’re making more but they’ve been out of stock for a while.

Should these standoffs be the same length? Is there a reason the top plastic isn’t parallel with the bottom plastic?

I have the MezelMods CLiP protector set on the way. My game is a new run that shipped with the metal bar above the orb drop target, same as the photo in the post above. Once the plastic protector is on can I remove that bar or should it be left on? Curious what others have done. Thanks.

Quoted from Knackers:

So if you have an older machine and have to replace a node board do you have to update to the latest code? I'm about to replace Node board 11 after it died in my 2018 build and am running 1.09 Cleland Code. Will/should I have to update?

1.09 Cleland still works on the new games. I’m currently using it on a fall 2022 build.

Quoted from Duster72:

I installed a set of the fluorescent CLIPS plastic protectors last night from Mezel Mods / puparts. There are about 4 screws that aren't long enough to get the nut back on after installing the protectors, even leaving the washer off. Did you guys completely replace those machine screws? Seems like this set should have included some instructions.

I agree there should have been instructions sent with this package. Mezel Mods has a link to instructions, but then says I don’t have authorization to that page, even though I am logged in to my account on their site. On the PU-parts site this is all that’s given as instructions.

I had one plastic on which I needed to remove the washers to get the hex stand-offs back on. It was the one under the Cosmo plastic above the right pop bumper.

Did your spotlight on the orb plastics fit back under the right ramp? Not sure if I put it back together properly or if the extra height made it no longer fit.

For those of you with new run games with the plugs in the apron in place of the apron lighting the newer Sterns come with, I found someone to make me up some lights to go in their place. He’s added them to his shop at pinballleds.ca
Here’s a link to the specific item.

Quoted from Markharris2000:

Do you know where they are connected to GI for power? (Looks like a Comet matrix-style connector to a GI bulb accessed from under the playfield).

The supplier has a buck converter that plugs into the 12v power supply in the back box. I connected the apron lighting into that along with some leds for the ramp lighting, scoop lighting, groot mouth lighting, and behind the Guardians target. He has different length of wiring with a male/female end as well as some splitters for the connections. My understanding is if you connect too many lights into the existing lighting it could cause some flickering due to not enough voltage being supplied. The apron kit does come with some other connection options, (I’ll post a pic of the options). If all you’re adding is just the apron lights I’m sure tying into the existing gi would be fine.

Quoted from Psw757:

Do you find these add a good amount of light above flippers?

I’m not sure they add much light above the flippers, as I find that area between the slings already lit well. They definitely light up the flippers and the playfield below them, which was what I was wanting. I plan on adding some spotlights still to the bottom posts that support the ramps to light up the playfield above the mode inserts, which I find to be the darkest area.

I have a September 2022 build pro. Just over 1100 plays and the drop target has just started not wanting to drop. I don’t believe it’s the normal issue that the magnet doesn’t pull the tab that is on the spring. I can open the coin door, push in the white tab and see that the magnet grabs it when it’s supposed to. If I lift the playfield and manually push that tab, it bottoms out on the magnet before it releases the drop target. I’m assuming that shouldn’t be. Thanks for any advice.

#8207 5 months ago

One other question. To try and play without the drop target, I’ve turned it off in the game specific adjustments. The “release gem” target only activates when it is lit. Is Orb Multiball not in the code when you play with the drop target deactivated?

#8211 5 months ago

Turns out I had to bend my bracket the opposite way, the mechanism that releases the drop target was bottoming out on the magnet before hitting the drop target to release it. Bending the bracket down towards the cabinet allowed it to move enough to release the target.

Here you have an example at minute 7...between 7:30 and 7:40

The magnet not working properly can be frustrating, but also when working can be frustrating too. I can’t count how many times I’ve had it toss the ball straight out the left outlane like this example.

Quoted from PinPickle:

Alright… how do you get to save Xandar?
According to the rules, I should have been there.
All modes were completed. Sanctuary 2 was my last mode. Completed it and then it said Sanctuary 2. I don’t believe I completed that.
Do you need to complete 1 & 2 of each mode or just 1. I thought 1 that’s why 4 lights cherry bomb.
Both multi balls were completed multiple times but they inserts for the MB’s were flashing. Do I have to get the Super Jackpot on both Multiballs?
Anyone have some insight? Heart was pumping I had a ball left and all I was doing wash shooting around for nothing. Drained going for another Groot multiball.
[quoted image][quoted image]

Don’t need to complete the second part of the mode, just the first, but you do need to collect the super jackpot in each of Groot and Orb multiball. I’ve only gotten that far once, and drained trying to hit Starlord to start Save Xander.
