Quoted from bigguybbr:The pros on these never came with service rails. Luckily they go on easily and aren't terribly expensive. Think of it as your first mod opportunity
First mod is already done, that was mylar in shooter lane.
But yes I will get the rails.
Ive bought 10 or more NIB Spike 2 machines and this is the first I have seen with pegs.
Pin Monk Fan going in tonight. This one is screaming compared to Rush. Glad I keep a handful in-stock
Quoted from PinMonk:The fan in the Meanwell power supply Stern uses changed in the last few months. They have an even crappier, even louder fan than was in there since Stern started using the RSP-500-48 years ago. That's probably why it sounds louder to you than RUSH...it IS.
If you want the details on the new louder fan that's now in Spike2 machine power supplies, I talked about it here when it came out:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/stern-finally-has-a-new-fan-in-their-spike2-power-supplies
That explains it. Thank you
Quoted from jesperpark:Correct lol. Found the other half so can be glued back on. Will order a protector for it first, along with a scoop cliffy.
Pinballlife.com had everything in stock. I'm in the middle of my install now. This is a new build game. Rocket shot protector was missing a hole for a post but no big deal.
16714133260455963028472332639917 (resized).jpg20221218_185634 (resized).jpgI'm still learning rules on GOTG
Today started Quills quest at launch finished 1 and 2 in the 2 ball multiball, immediately after I finished 2 I locked a ball in groot, groom kept the ball and I was not given another, just played out 1 ball. Is this normal? If so I will change my game play strategy.
Quoted from Parkshow30:I believe it is, that’s happened twice to me. If you finish Quill with both balls you can’t start a mode until you lock a ball in Groot or loose a ball. Really the only thing you can do is work towards orb or get your multipliers built up or finish any other 2 modes that you already had running as those run in the background throughout your entire ball.
Quills quest is a good mode to start with only if you are new to the machine so you can get a feel for the bounces and shots or if you are playing in a tournament and you just want to get some good points in quick so you aren’t last. Quills quest 2 is a hurry up that is worth 10% of your total score so if you play it first you are only probably going to get 4-7 million or so. If you play it near the end and you already have a billion it can be worth 100 million for one shot, or if you have your multiplier lit on the scoop it’s worth 200 million or if you do that AND shoot a ramp first it’s worth 400 million or if you do both of those first AND you have Rocket running it’s worth 800 million!
Lots of risk reward strategy with this pin which I like and keeps the game interesting in the home environment.
Thank you!!
Quoted from king_pin:Did you have to take any mechs off to install the rails?
Nothing other than the service pegs had to come off.
I spent more time worrying about drilling pilot holes than actually installing.
Quoted from Markharris2000:FYI, when you install the T-Nuts on the top of the playfield under the apron, I used a wide-mouth clamp to press it into the clearcoat surface, rather than a hammer to knock it in. It just felt more 'gentle'... and allowed me to press it evenly.
Yeah the hammering in T-Nuts did not sit well with me. I used a large channel locks and 2 thick washers to slowly press in.
90 plays on my new build game. I am having an issue with the orb drop target coming up too fast and launching the ball on its way out and over the flippers to the drain.
I have orb plastic protector was hoping that would keep the ball down but no luck.
I'm at 6.9 degrees since it felt floaty at anything lower.
I haven't dug into setting adjustments for ball save.
Any recommendations
Quoted from TheShaft:Should these standoffs be the same length? Is there a reason the top plastic isn’t parallel with the bottom plastic?
[quoted image]
My 2022 build is that way.
Quoted from VirtualMayhem:I've decided to pull the trigger on a Guardians Pro to add to my collection. Its a game a play a ton on location here in AZ and I just really enjoy it. Checking in with a couple folks with ads on Pinside today. I'm looking to go the NIB route with Insider Connect - I've been watching this thread for a while and don't see anyone saying don't buy one of the new builds? I'm going to have to go through this whole thread for mods, plastic protectors, issues, etc but figured that will be a future problem once the pin gets on its way
I have a NIB from last run zero issues. Pinball life had scoop protector in stock. I put mylar in shooter lane and bought rocket and orb protector here on pinside.
Installing Mezel mods orb insert. It's a tight fit with orb halves loose. Looks like the right side half is cast weird compared to left side. Not on mezel mods at all. Anyone run into this? Thinking about pulling that right side orb and sanding it flat hoping to save decal.
Chip marks under decal were "factory". I should be able to sand it down.
20230109_192933 (resized).jpg20230109_192945 (resized).jpg20230109_193033 (resized).jpgQuoted from PinMonk:Basically if you put a shim at the bottom on the plate that plastic with the lights is attached to, it will tilt the board back. Do you have a 3D printer?
I've been thinking about a 3d printer for a few years but have not pulled the trigger. I do have some nylon spacers I could cut at an angle and place on each side.
I'll get my butt into the 3d printer thread and figure that out.
Quoted from SteelTigers:I purchased the same mezel mod. However, after I disassembled the factory orb and noticed the inner design was a bubbled up and pealing off decal, I abandoned that idea and went for the all metal led orb from hop. [quoted image]
Thats the route I will go once I destroy the factory orb. Mezel one was so reasonably priced I had to try it.
Quoted from JonCBrand:Thats the route I will go once I destroy the factory orb. Mezel one was so reasonably priced I had to try it.
Sanded it flat my shop was covered in dust. Gave up and ordered the metal orb.
Quoted from Yesh23:I saw this topper today on Facebook. Does anyone know where they can be purchased at?
[quoted image]
Someone posted that topper in this thread within the last few weeks.
I think supplier info was on there too.
Im not sure how to link that
Quoted from VirtualMayhem:Installed the scoop, orb plastic and pop bumper protectors. Took lots of pics - orb area plastics had a lot going on in there.
My right orbit pathing is still off. Adjusted it as much as I could with plastics off. Someone suggested a piece of Mylar on the metal guide - where do you suggest I put it? I don’t have any Mylar looks like it’s sold in 12 inch square sheets - buy some and cut to size I assume?
Final question anyone have this orb mod and what do you think?
https://www.hookedonpinball.com/store/p134/Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Orb-with-Lit-Crystal-Infinity-Stone.html#/[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
I installed that orb mod from Hooked last week, very nice unit simple install. I used a zip tie to fish the harness through.
Brackets needed some tweaking to get both halves of the orb to line up but overall super happy.
Quoted from VirtualMayhem:Nice - so this connects via alligator clips under the playfield correct? Did you have to remove the orb plastics beneath it to install or was it unscrew factory orb, install new one and fish the wire through the gap to connect it underneath?
I had the right ramp off while I was messing around with another project so I had easy access to 4 screws on back of factory orb.
I left the plastics in place and used a ziptie to fish wires through, I separated the bonded cable a bit to get the alligator clips through one at a time.
Quoted from VirtualMayhem:I’ve installed the orb mod - it’s very nice with a nice metal sheen on it. The orb doesn’t mount with a nice space between the halves to show off the crystal. I read on here someone had to mess around with the mount - what did you do? The mounting bracket itself there is no way to adjust it - looks like I may need to bend the orb section so that it lines up better?
[quoted image][quoted image]
Just bend to fit your liking while installed. notice my brackets are bent.
20230205_155405 (resized).jpgQuoted from PinMonk:Wet is the only way to go. Once you've done it once, can't go back. If you're doing wet, it's so forgiving you don't even have to remove the PF.
Definitely could have done it with the PF installed. 2 connectors and a network cable, to pull it and I don't have the best decal skills so I need all the help/space I can get.
I'm looking for some help dialing in my pro. I'm bricking shots regularly. Set up game at 6.8 degrees and level when I unboxed it. I have not checked since so I will do that in the morning. All stock settings. I'm generally late on the shot hitting left of shot from right flipper and vice versa. It's probably me but would like some input. I've hit 7B regularly on Rush so I think I'm an OK player.
Maybe increase flipper power to get the ball off the flipper sooner?
Quoted from hiker2099:Guardians has some of the tightest shots in pinball. Rocket is tough. The best thing to consider when dialing in this pin is to think about the orb shot. Just make sure that when it releases the ball that the magnet somewhat affects it, then you will know it is dialed in correctly..
When orb drop releases I get a good swing back and forth and a random release. I can hit rocket, orb, and orbits 75% obviously Groot is easy, Ramps are my issue. I'll try adjusting pitch before I go deeper. When I'm hitting shots it's fantastic but on an off day it leaves me bitter. That's probably a sign of a good pin. Love/hate
Quoted from Duster72:Is there anything I can do about the rocket kickback going SDTM? I didn't see a ball save in the menu. Any other suggestions?
Kicker solenoid power adjustment did it for me.
Quoted from Psw757:What is best non stern topper?
Im currently printing this one, I will post some pics when its done.

Quoted from Fifty:This would be super sick if the lighting could be integrated with the current mode.
Oh man that would be slick, I bet its doable.
I wonder If I could cheat it with one of those tv backlight kits that has the camera to sense colors on the tv and then backlights tv color to match.
Quoted from mannymasy:I like it a lot... what price would it have with shipping to Spain? greetings
Im not making them to sell. You could take the STL files from the link I posted and find a 3d printing company close to you and have them printed.
