Quoted from sethi_i:

right flipper completely died last night mid-game

probably had a wire break off the coil terminal. has happened on maybe 3 of my recent sterns, no big deal.

Quoted from dsmoke1986:

Anyone get the official topper yet?
I've been eyeing one up to complete my modded out pro; is it worth it??

Yes, the only stern topper I own, I think it looks great.

Is it integrated pretty well?

I’ve got it on my LE, looks good, not very bright light changes to the colour of the character you (hardly visible)... that’s about it. I wouldn’t say it’s integrated THAT well. Could have been better.

#4405 3 years ago

Here is my topper on my pro. It lights up the same color as the playfield depending on which mode you choose. It was my birthday gift this year. I like the looks of it.

Also the hexagonal shapes on both sides go nuts when it’s in the pops and during multiballs. I personally like the integration. The color changes per character are subtle and look better in darker rooms but is totally there.

It is a wire. It would be an even smaller deal if I had a soldering iron or any idea how to use one...

I guess it's time to figure this out!!

Looks like the other wire is about to come loose also. Just heat it up and it should reflow. I promise, it's easy

The safety glasses are a good idea though. Wiring can be springy and fling hot solder around accidentally.

#4417 3 years ago

Success!! I took CoolCatPinball advice and just heated up the existing solder. It took three tries to get it to flow evenly, but it smoothed out and held. I think it was because the iron had a pencil tip on it. I should have switched to a small chisel probably.

I didn't touch the other wire. I went back to my military training on that one....if it ain't broke, don't fuck with it!!

Got the speaker lights and shield installed the other day.... love the way it looks.. to bad they can’t coordinate with the system, that would be cool! Still love it however.

Would anyone be interested in the lighted side armor mod for the upgraded Stern side armor for GOTG that Robert from Hooked On Pinball makes, Robert currently makes this mod for the side armor to suit Aerosmith and Starwars, currently not available for GOTG,
I have been talking to Robert about making this available for the GOTG upgraded side armor but he would require minimum of 50 orders for this to go into production,
Not sure what the pricing for this would be but probable would be similar to the Aerosmith and starswars kits between $90 and $110.

See photos below of the Aerosmith and stars wars kits and the upgraded Stern GOTG armor.

Anyone keen for this to happen,
cheers
Trevor

It's hard to tell with the light kit on....do you have the foam in between the speaker panel and the plastic canvas or did you leave the foam out? If you left it out....would you mind posting, PMing or e-mailing me a pic with the game turned off? I was wondering how that might have made the custom panel design show up better with the game turned off.

#4431 3 years ago

ah I put the canvas behind the foam!

ill try it without

#4432 3 years ago
Quoted from NeilMcRae:

In most circumstances I would defiantly suggest keeping the foam in there in front of the plastic canvas, but I think removing the foam and having the whitish look (even though it is officially considered clear) of the plastic canvas showing, would help the custom design showing up better when the light kit is off. Please send me some light kit off pictures before you remove the foam and after you remove it if you get around to it and don't mind. I have a friend that I gave one of those custom panels to and it has me wondering how I should recommend he mount things.

That looks nice. What's the cheapest your guys seen used pro's go for? $4300.

I would like to get one, and officially join the club.

I dont think I've ever seen a pro as cheap as 4300. I believe 4600 is about as low as I've seen, but I'm just 1 dude

Seems to me that the premium version is the Limited one. I have not seen one in real life nor for sale....LE’s and pro’s. Wonder how many premiums have been sold?

Quoted from PeterG:

I agree, Premiums are hard to find. There was a used one on eBay for about 2 months listed at $7,200 (which is eBay insanity) and it appears to have sold recently, but not sure of the final value. There were a couple Premiums listed here months ago, but don’t think they sold. According to my distributor Stern is only making Pro’s now. I believe Premiums came off the line a while ago. Probably weren’t selling well since there’s little difference compared to the Pro and not everyone is a fan of the Groot arms. I for one am holding out for a Premium at the right price. I will be in this club one day, dammit.

#4439 3 years ago

I got my premium for the price of a pro. It sat on Facebook for over a week. I was shocked no one scooped it up before I made the decision to go for it.

Must’ve been back before the code was updated? Or some people still aren’t aware of how good this game plays. Either way, nice score! I’m jealous.

Ha ha. The code was complete. I just think the initial launch turned everyone off of the game. They just didn't know what they were missing out on!

Yes, if you d/l that and follow cleland instructions to burn it to a new SD Card you can just swap that in the game, turn it on and you're good to go (all settings and high scores will be deleted). If at any point you feel you want / need to you can just put the Stern provided one back in the game.

Can anyone that has installed the Cliffy shooter lane protectors post a pic of how they go? I purchased them a while back, and am trying to install some of the mods i have not installed yet. And I can't seem to figure out how they go, and just want some insight. Thanks

I'm officially in the club boys. Got my pro on Wednesday. Clelands code went on before I played it. He is the Master! What a badass awesome pin. I've had all the high-end pins. You name it, I've owned it at one time.

This is the most fun I've had on a pin in a while. Great game. It's an injustice, it should be rated higher.

I didn't want to buy anything now with all the shit going on with this pandemic. But I got to such good deal on it, that I couldn't turn it down. I'm so glad I did. I've been missing out.

It's one of those situations where you know the game should be rated higher but at the same time can be happy it's not because you can get a good deal on a great game!
