Quoted from cpr9999:

If I add the washers to get the Core closer to the playfield is there any concern about playfield magnetic burn by doing this? (Older machines has this problem with burning playfield- I think Addams Family. Not sure if this was exact same issue).
Does that core get hot? OR is it the coil that gets hot.
Anyone that has done this - see any issues? Any experts in this area weigh in too - please.
(Also does leveling the playfield address the magnetic ball grab without add washers to the core?)
Thx

Magnets are pressed tight against the playfield in Ghostbusters. No known issues there.

Leveling didn't solve the problem for me with the magnet. I had to use the washers. YMMV.

#2502 5 years ago
Quoted from HeadRush:

I was checking out my magnet today and I was surprised to see how hot it was. I could feel the heat through the playfield. Underneath, it was extremely hot to the touch. Anyone else have this going on?

Did you find out was this an issue or normal?

#2503 5 years ago
Quoted from TomGWI:

I’ll have to check what my incline is. The bubble on the Game level is in the middle of the upper line but not between the 2 lines.
I removed the 2 washers and magnet is working fine. I noticed that magnet gets super hot and I would rather have it away from the wood.

Was the coil hot (which I would expect)? Or was the steel core hot? I assume this is where you had the 2 washers under the core?

Thanks - I am debating on installing so I don’t get playfield burn.

Quoted from J85M:

Factory topper does look good but I can’t decide between the factory one or the one laseriffic was working on which looked awesome!

i also think the Laseriffic one looked cool. I like how the lights are set up with the factory one though. Not saying the laseriffic one couldn't do the same thing.

Both but especially the core. I took out the washers. I get good action from the magnet now that I lowered the incline of the playfield (which is still steeper than factory recommendations).

anyone have any pic's of Cliffy's installed? I do better with pictures. I think they are for the shooter lane, but not 100% sure.

Reduce pitch first and see what happens. Ditto TomGWI for lowering the incline.

Wow nice pair jobs, shame there’s isn’t a Milano that would under the glass on the playfield that you could work that magic on

I stumbled across these seem to be sold in the US https://www.amazon.com/DecoPac-Guardians-Galaxy-Milano-DecoSet/dp/B00LBCYQBK

Think it’s slihtly bigger then the hotwheels Milano.

Bought an antifatigue mat off amazon for cheap and then used my cameo to make a one of a kind mat for my machine. Not perfect but fun to make.

#2520 5 years ago

Hey guys,

I'm working on some instruction cards for GOTG... can someone post a nice pic of the stern rule cards so I can copy the text from it? I don't own the game and can't find a big enough to read version online...

Not Stern Cards but the ones I used....

What version of the code is he running here?

Seems like really old (pre-1.0) based on the very small end of ball bonuses.

Quoted from jim_:

Seems like really old (pre-1.0) based on the very small end of ball bonuses.

It looks like .90....

Cherry Bomb has been included
Groot is nerfed
Orb is huge
Hadron shots are unlimited and can still free the locked ball in Orb MB
Level 2 modes end when you start a new mode

The game has changed significantly since .90 (especially regarding the Hadrons that he really took full advantage of and the EOB bonus), but it still gave me some things to think about. I knew about the NovaCorp lane lights for multipliers, but never really concentrated on them. I'd double the left ramp or Groot or the scoop...but they kind of just happened. Having every shot doubled blew up his score.

I'm still unbelievably impressed with his ability to hit the Yaka and Star Lord shots at will. He hits three Yaka shots in a row, and I thought his scoop must have had a funnel on it! I asked in another thread how these guys get to Wizard Modes seemingly effortlessly. This showed me how important accuracy is....one flip, one shot! Half of my drains come from repeatedly bricking that damn scoop trying to start the next mode!

A bunch of years ago, my wife and I where playing pinball with Bowen, Steve Bowden, and a bunch of other talented players. Watching them be able to hit the shots and will and nudge to save was eye opening. We learned so much just by talking to them for a couple of hours while playing. Alas it hasn't helped us too much as we still can't aim for crap (The yaka and star lord shots) are impossible for me to hit with any sort of consistency

Keep at it and the shots will click.

I don’t think GOTG “cheap drains” you at all and is tough but not as tough as other Borg games.

I always blame myself when I can’t hit shots rather than the game. That makes the focus on how I need to get better and not give up on or blame the game itself.

Cleaned up the jewels and I guess we'll see how it all works in the next couple of weeks. We're gonna try the first one in the premium since it has to close.

I finally made it to the Immolation Initiative.
The final score was a bit disappointing at 1.1B but it was a helluva lotta fun.
Cherry Bomb was only 160M+. I couldn't make shots because they kept getting blocked by rogue balls.
Had a long lasting third ball and finished all eight modes for Immolation Initiative.
Couldn't finish the two multi-balls to start Save Zander, but it gives me something else to shoot for.

This game gets so much better the deeper you get into it.
Software updates have made this game a sheet ton of fun.
Can't wait to see where it finishes up.

Is there anything that hitting this gets you besides points?

Hitting it collects letters for “galaxy”. You can see the progression in the title on the lcd. Completion grants mystery that you have to collect at the scoop.

Ok, so that's how you get the mystery. I knew the scoop to collect, and saw the letters when I had a chance to look up. Didn't know that's what awarded. Thanks. Still trying to learn.

It also adds to your bonus multiplier, but I'm not sure how/ when it does one over the other.

I appreciate all the info. Just trying to learn what all the modes are and other things. Immolation, cherry ball. etc. I know what those are now.

I'm in the same boat, it is difficult to look all of this stuff up with the code changing.

Not that I'm complaining about updated code, the new code is awesome and the reason the lady friend and I bought one. It just makes finding rules more difficult.

Quoted from Wolfmarsh:

I had a similar problem with the drop target, but kneissl noticed the drop target bracket wasn't bent at a full 90 degrees, so he pressed his palm against it which bent it just a little bit more, effectively doing the same thing as the washer fix, moving the little metal release arm slightly closer to the coil.
Haven't had an issue out of it since.

Going to have to try this as the washer fix lasted a little under 3 days. Here's hoping I can get it stay fixed...

I think its awesome and would probably buy one, depending on the price.

Quoted from Insane:

I don't have a 3d printer yet, I still am weighing the pros and cons of PLA vs SLA. My biggest fear has been that once I buy a certain 3d printer, a better one will come out shortly after. I have to rely on a couple of friends to print the orbs and they take about a day to print. I guess I could cast one, but I have the jewels casted and the molds to make as many as I want, the problem is the mold has to heat up in the oven for an hour or so, then the resin takes 2 hours to cure.

If we get it wired up here pretty soon, if there is enough interest I might be able to do a run of 10-20. But like you said, it would depend on the price.

The paint alone for each orb to get that chrome metal look is about $20-$25 alone.

I have found in this hobby that if the mod is good enough to justtify the price then the cost is usually a non issue and yours onto something pretty nice with this especially if you can make a version that works with the Prem/LE.

I have a jewel that should work with the premium, but since my Pro is static I don't have to worry about mine closing, so we are going to figure out how to mount the orb properly for the premiums. I don't mean to bash the other mod places, but when I see people say they've spent $500-600 on mods, I know they've really spent about $500 on $20 worth of material. I can't really set up a side company or charge a lot since my job may not appreciate it, and I am deathly afraid of setting up my own company. But all it takes is a little extra time to make these things amazing. I wish some of the companies would spend a little more time making their stuff look a little more official. It really doesn't take that much more time.

Here are the ones that might work in the premium. I know it has to close so if a couple of ideas don't work I'll have to redesign one for the premium but this or one more could work.
