Quoted from Lamprey:

I did a quick search and didn't see much. But....
Is there any way to hook the moving orb to the Pro and have it function and/or is anyone working on a mod like that?

The mods out now for making the Power Stone biger and better exist only because the Pro model doesn’t open and close. Premium/LE owners are out of luck for those kind of mods.

I recently remembered the right hand rule from my college days: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-hand_rule. I think this means that flipping the magnet coil upside down (which changes the current between clockwise and counterclockwise) has an effect on the direction of the magnetic force F. That could be the simple fix that was eluding all of us. I just landed in Philadelphia for work, but as soon as I get home I'm going to try this.

Quoted from J85M:

Thanks Trekkie, look forward to hearing back from you regarding this, I’m getting a sore butt sitting on this fence just need Stern to give me a little nudge with more code progress.

You must have seen some of the Pro streams, if not can you describe what the 3 magnets do/what effect they have on the ball/s?
I’ve watched a lot of Pro streams and the single magnet seems to simply catch the ball as it comes out of the orb and then just releases it, haven’t seen the single magnet doing much else.

Code is at a great spot where it currently sits. Remember, game hasn’t been out a year yet.

Sometimes the magnets will grab and hold onto the balls, similar to ghostbusters magnaslings. Usually, in multiball, it will change the trajectory of the balls. It’s a really cool effect...makes the game more challenging.

All I can say, is anyone who has played the game, has really loved it. It has that one more game aspect to it, that iron man has.

Quoted from Trekkie1978:

That’s what I was just telling my friend, who may join the club. It’s just as challenging as IM. I had IM for 6 years and didn’t really want to let it go until it has a worthy successor. GOTG is worthy.

are there only 2 multiballs. do you start with 2 balls when playing quil?

Quoted from robotron:

Quill is a two ball muliball. Groot and orb also have multiballs.

Good point.

#2009 5 years ago

Immolation is kind of a letdown, but in a way I’m glad. It’s so annoying to have to time out modes after you qualify them, especially the ones that go on for 2 minutes. My next bogey is Save Xandar. I’ve had a few games where I only had a few modes left to complete, so I know it’s reachable. I do wish there were 2 extra ball opportunities, like AS.

I know. I know. I am playing GOTG on location at My Parents Basement this week to decide.

Sold my IM and miss it and have a spot, cash and another friend with a low play GOTG I can have. I know this equals a big - Duh! Why not get GOTG if it is like IM to try something new?!

Just picked up a nice MET, IMDN also. So would have MET, SMVE, SW LE and IMDN to go with GOTG if I get it.

I am truly a blessed Dude. Thanks Swampfire for your guidance! You will be the first to know.

Just close them. I'm sure you still will get Immolation before save Xandar irregardless.

#2015 5 years ago

Hope you had help with setup. Congrats!

Looking at possibly getting GOTG. Played it tonight at a barcade and had a blast on it.

#2016 5 years ago

Mine is ordered, just waiting for it to be made.

#2017 5 years ago

Thanks. No help yet but I forgot to mention I have a sienna van so could offer help picking up games, delivering games, loading and unloading. Thanks.

Does any one have a shaker motor installed on their machine?

I personally enjoy the rumble of the shaker motor and have been contemplating the upgrade, but I'm curious if it adds much to this game (I.E. - Does it make sense when it activates, or does it just seem like the machine is rumbling for no reason, etc.)

I have one in my Pro, and I thinks it’s well integrated.

I have it, yep. Have it in all my machines. I love it but im not picky. The more bangs the better IMO.

I played GOTG sgain last night and for those of you that are waiting on the code, i dont think you need to wait any longer because this game is damn good and alot of fun right now! Im sure that there are probably tweaks to the code that need to be done but they will come. This game is so much more fun now than it was before.

I'd maybe buy GOTG if AS was done.

But it aint, so I wont, cause I dont (trust Stern).

Even ST still has bugs half a decade later lol

Ya gotta protect yo nuts when it comes to Stern code

Trust no one Mulder

Also the talking tree still doesnt talk, wtf...

I dont think any game is ever going to be perfect or considered finished. There is always something that could be better. AS will get its code polished up and i have no doubts about that. The game is still awesome and plays well and is a ton of fun. Some people say GOT isnt finished yet, i think its awesome personally. IMDN is amazing, but its not done yet either. I think that Stern is putting more of a proiority on code and i believe we are going to start seeing better games at release than what we have been used to.

Was pleasantly surprised by this game when I played it. Got to play an LE too...ON LOCATION!

AS isn't done but I still enjoy it just as much as GOTG. I don't want to wait 3 more seconds for multiball to start just so Groot can say "I am Groot". We know that already.

There's already time in the sequence now for him to do that, and if there wasn't, I wouldn't mind the extra wait.

Too cool not to do.

TSPP
FGY
LOTR
TWD

My other games all seem purdy damn near finished to me.

One might say MET & several others could join the club of near pinball perfection.

Prolly not GOTG tho.

I only bitch because I'm a Stern fanboy with space/money that's itching for something new. GOTG looks so cool too.

GOTG is ahead of where MET was a year in. I love MET, and I agree that it’s an all-time great, but it certainly wasn’t born that way. I’ll check the version history, but I could swear that after a year there was no CIU. It was worth the wait, of course.

EDIT: MET was released April 2013, and the 4 Crank It Up modes were added March 2014, 10-11 months later. We’re just 7 months in on GOTG. It’s still no MET, but it’s getting there.

I think it's safe to say that the layout + current code make this one hell of a pin to play.

I know people complain about the voice actors, but for the most part, they aren't that bad. The soundtrack for this game is awesome.

Got my LE set up today and I love it. Couple things though, I’m also having the orb drop target problem where it doesn’t drop even after a few ball clears... frustrating to say the least. Also, is it normal for the ball to come out of the right orbit and always activate the right slingshot before it hits the flippers? I’m getting a lot of cheap drains where it drops out of the orbit, and the sling pushes it straight down the middle. So if the orb drop target would work most the time and the orbit would drop it onto the right flipper instead of the sling, I’d be a happy camper.

Overall, loving it so far other then those issues. The ramps and scoop are tough to hit though. Not an easy shooter at all.

Tighten up the spring that is closest to the playfield. It's a small spring. I think Stern put the wrong sized one on.

*it's on the underside of the playfield.

#2033 5 years ago

Played one on location with balls coming from the right orbit hitting the right sling before the right flipper. Is this just a side to side leveling adjustment?

Had the same problem with the ball activating the sling coming out of the right orbit. I took some pliers and slightly bent out the steel "wall" that comes out of the right orbit. It's tough, but still go conservative. We're talking about maybe bending it 1mm.

I had this issue on mine. There was a small spring on the target accessible from the bottom of the playfield that seemed to hold the drop in the locked position. It looked like there were similar attachment points for a spring on the other side but my mech only had one. I thought maybe the one spring was putting asymmetric torque that caused it not to drop as easily. I thought about adding a spring to the other side but started by just removing the spring which seemed to completely resolve for me so I haven't looked into it further.

except, Lyman is not behind...
just to say of course, i know GOTG is a good pin for sure, on the right track
i'm still looking this one for a future buy

Quoted from cartman5579:

It wasn't a side to side leveling issue on mine. I raised the play angle to 7 degrees and the ball comes down with enough momentum to bypass the sling to the flipper. All of my games are at 7. I think they play better (faster), but you can still gain control.

Quoted from cartman5579:

The ramps and scoop are tough to hit though. Not an easy shooter at all.

This is by far the most frustrating of my games, but it's that toughness that keeps me playing. This is the perfect machine to improve someone's accuracy.

Anybody resolve a problem where the magnet never grabs the ball coming out of orb lock?

#2039 5 years ago
Quoted from Tungsten78:

On mine the grab is weak, but it's there. I'd check your magnet in coil test.

Quoted from Tungsten78:

Many of us are having that issue. The magnet works fine in Orb multi-ball, but it's not catching the ball, or inconsistent when catching it, out of the Orb drop. This seems to have gotten worse with .95.

Take off the glass off and put your hand over the Maga light. Roll a ball into the Orb and watch it drop. If the magnet does the "hard catch" after it's stopped by your hand, then you're experiencing what a lot of us are. The magnet is simply firing a second too late.

I've emailed Stern about this, and I encourage everyone else to.

My coil does energize and will grab the ball if I stop it like you say but not with the ferocity I see in many of the YouTube videos. It seemed more weak than late. This despite orb multiball seemingly coming on with a lot more juice.

Pulled out the side wall just a hair and now most of my orbit drops miss the slingshot. So good fix on that one. Orb drop target is still not dropping all the time, I’ll work on that one another day I suppose. I’m very tempted to turn the mode select back on when starting a ball, but it feels like cheating I’ll keep working on that scoop shot. I just wish there was a consistent method to hit it.

#2043 5 years ago

One more little gem... Orb Multiball on the pre/le is so so great. Having all three magnets grab and divert balls all over the playfield is so much fun. On the pro I was playing on location I was always going for Groot, but I like Orb a lot. I still haven’t completed 4 modes to get to Cherrybomb, but I wonder does it utilize the magnets as well?

You will love Cherrybomb multiball. Do not worry if the magnets work or not, you will be pretty busy just trying to hit the balls. All six balls come out!

Any pro owners interested in tradeing for a Walking Dead pro?

#2050 5 years ago

Anyone else’s left ramp return (to the right in lanes) sitting unlevel? Maybe this wouldn’t bother me so much if I knew it was just the nature of the beast and they weren’t always perfect. Hell, it is just formed plastic anyways, right? But it does bother me. I probably wouldn’t notice as much if the flasher on top didn’t sit lopsided. Pic looks better then in person
