Might have to reach out to a distro and see if they will order you one.
Hey team. So I am Original owner of a 2017 build. Thing has been rock solid! They didn't come with scoop protectors back then and I noticed a small divot forming on left side about 2 yrs ago. So I added the scoop protector in 2019 but now even that is getting bent in. Any advice on how to prevent this from chipping further? Mylar maybe?
Anyone without a scoop protector I highly recommend you add it ASAP!
I purchased a GOTG LE a while back and noticed that the audio quality was poor/hollow compared to my other Sterns. I figured that something was wrong with the original 4" speakers and recently replaced them with Kenwood 5.25" speakers that Stern uses on other LE's and while the audio quality was improved it still sounds pretty bad. I have tried replacing the SD card with clelands audio mod and it sounds just as bad, I have also fiddled around with the customary audio settings and made adjustments according to recommendations in this thread but still have hollow and poor audio. The music is fantastic with the cleland mod but I just can't appreciate properly it because of this audio issue.
Is anyone else experiencing this and do we know of a fix that isn't "replace everything with pinwoofer"? I thought about adding an amp as LE's produced after GOTG all have amps, but I don't know if it will do anything for this sound. Even my Stern pro pins had good enough audio and didn't need pinwoofers in my gameroom setup. I read about Spike 2 CPU boards and audio issues with some builds further back in this thread but I have't seen anyone report back that replacing the Spike 2 CPU board fixed their issue.
The new 1.08 software notes say "Improve backbox and cabinet audio synchronization" but I don't want to upgrade if it doesn't solve this issue as I will lose my possibility to run clelands audiomod, has anyone notised better sound with the 1.08 update?
Any tips on how to solve this issue would be appreciated.

Do you have the same issue with the stock code or just with the Cleland mix? Have you tried the applejuice or any other ones?

I don't have the cliffy/protector yet myself, but bought my machine via a friend (was setup for public play in a bar arcade) and mine unfortunately has quite a chunk in that same spot missing. Trying to figure out a way to fill it and repair it as it is myself. Seems almost at some level like a design flaw, as they are all prone to this damage in this spot.

Same issue with stock code on a different SD card. Is applejuice another audiomod or what are we talking about?

Applejuice has the Cleland audio when it comes to callouts and has some extra songs added for the casset player. During normal gameplay when you are running a mode the standard stern music is heard.
Its my favorite.

If you have the same issue with the stock code it's not the sound mix, either something is wrong on your machine or you just have too high expectations for it and need to upgrade the system.

I know it's not the sound mix as I mentioned that I have the same issue with the original SD as the cleland mod and no, I don't have to high expectations as I mentioned that I compared this pin to Stern pros and premiums (TMNT, DP, JP etc.) and they sound way better. This issue is hardware related and other people seem to have the same issue but I haven't seen a solution for it.
Quoted from red-line:I'm curious if anyone is working on getting pinsound to work on 1.08, does anyone know? It was a major bummer when I got my NIB GOTG and it was unable to run custom audio packages. Still loving this game, just hoping some kind soul is chipping away at a workaround.
PinSound or Pinball Browser or both?? I believe they need to get Pinball Browser to work with it in order or cleland,
applejuice and other to port their sound packages over but I don't follow that topic so I have no idea.

Totally quiet in the Pb thread on this topic from oga83 for months so I am afraid for you for the answer. Or we can hope for a Christmas gift
Have you tried downgrading to 106? Are you sure your gotg has the new node boards? Have new code is something else as having in real life the new node boards for which 108 is needed.
Hi everyone! I am thinking of buying a Guardians of the Galaxy (not just thinking, I'm about to pull the trigger). Did I hear correctly that the Cleland Sound Mode can't be used anymore? Is that true??
If so, why? Do we only have access to the programed soundtrack now with no options?

If buying a NIB from stern they are shipping with newer node boards that are not compatible with the older firmwares. Downgrading the newer nodeboards will set the nodeboards into a state where they can't be made to work even upgrading back to the latest version. If you are looking for one and you want to use the alt code you should try to find one used.

I didn’t think you could downgrade because 1.08 updates the firmware on the mode boards.
Quoted from bigguybbr:I didn’t think you could downgrade because 1.08 updates the firmware on the mode boards.
It’s correct that 108 updated the node boards and that’s mandantory for new style node boards to work. However, as you have an early run 108 are the new node boards installed is my question
Are my ramps supposed to wobble/move when I shoot them? Once the ball goes in and out the back board, the ramps seem to shift around a little. I looked around and all the ramp fasteners on the topside of the PF are installed and tight.
Quoted from big-c66:Who makes the wire ramps I’ve been looking can’t find the info
It's Loganpinball

Since the ramps whip the ball around the back with some force they do tend to wiggle a little when hit. I'd say it's normal but you probably should check that all of your ramp posts are screwed in tight too.

Who’s had problems with Groots mouth not opening? What was the problem and how did you fix it!
Can hear motor, but no movement.
Thanks.
Mine does, but more on the right ramp. I checked and everything seems tight.

Quoted from red-line:Unfortunately, yea, I have the new node boards. Oh well.
There is hope for you!!
Mine is on code 1.06 because I don't want to lose Cleland audio, so I'll be interested to see if somebody does a version for 1.08 now that PB is said to work again.
That said, does 1.08 have Insider Connected support? I see GOTG is on the list of games that support the IC upgrade, but I think 1.08 was released before IC and I don't see IC mentioned in the release notes. In a nutshell, if something like a 1.08 version with Cleland audio happens does that mean we can have both our custom sounds and Insider Connected?
1.08 doesn't have insider connected. Other than the nodeboard update and the support software for the latest system there were no changes to the game code in 1.08. It is likely much more stable than 1.06 but still the same game
I'm not sure what any of this means, but it sounds like we're trending in the right direction! You guys rule!!
Quoted from cleland:I'm on it . Will run my macro and test on my Pro, hopefully later today.
Much appreciated! It makes such a big difference to the experience of this particular game more than any other I have tried.
Quoted from cleland:I'm on it . Will run my macro and test on my Pro, hopefully later today.
Looking forward to this! Still 1.06 as well, but staying up to date and keeping your mod would be awesome.

Here's a question for owners that have had the game for awhile and are running 1.06. I haven't upgraded mine in quite some time because the game plays fine but yesterday I noticed that when selecting a mode it's not showing my state of completion for either multiball, i.e. neither the Groot or Orb MB inserts are flashing or solid even though I had one complete and one started but not complete. I really thought that if you had one completed and three other modes it would enable Cherry Bomb MB but I really haven't been playing any of my pins that much lately due to a move. Is this still the behavior on newer code or is this a bug in the version I'm running?
Have only experience with 106 but you need to complete 4 modes for CB, not 3. A MB doesn’t count as a mode.

I think we will see v1.09 soon as IC will be added. Anyway, I'l by you a six pack if you make a conversion for the LE

1.08 GOTG doesn't have insider connected, which is odd because of the very recent timing on the release.... I seem to remember (September) George Gomez saying that all "17" Spike 2 machines would get IC software. Maybe 1.10 is around the corner?
Quoted from bigguybbr:I'm currently running the v1.06 w/Cleland code. Did later versions add a juke box mode that is accessible like on my TMNT by holding the flipper buttons in attract?
I haven't tried it, but just looked at release notes for 1.06, 1.07 and 1.08 and none of them mention the jukebox mode.
I've been playing around with 1.08 and pinball browser. I pulled the songs and most of the callouts from cleland's 1.06 mix. Took about 5 hours just to export 286 audio files, what a pain. Re-importing will take even longer. Anyways just to test I only replaced 5 of the main songs if I remember correctly, no callouts. Only 2 songs worked, 2 were all static and another song sounded kind of like a siren the entire time. Not sure what's up, still playing around with it. fingers crossed. I've seen other people have the static issue just can't remember where I seen it. Suggestions?
I guess I should have mentioned I have a 1.08 pro machine with an July 30th 21 build date and the new node boards.
On a good note, the game plays just fine but some of the audio is corrupting. However I just tried to import a couple of the same songs into a fresh copy of the GOTG 1.08 file and after the import I tried to play the new audio track and it gave me an unhandled exception error and crashed pinball browser. Its corrupting the audio file I changed but I was still able to flash it to an SD card and load up the game and play. So its heading in the right direction and it doesn't brick your node boards
Quoted from wbloss:Got an email about a new code update, 1.09. Any hints and tips for us new owners on updating?
I would purchase a new sd card and put the update on that. That way you can swap in the original card if anything goes wrong.
Other than that it's pretty straight forward, download the image file from stern's site, download balena etcher and follow the instructions from stern's site (https://sternpinball.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/How-to-Create-a-SD-Card-for-a-SPIKE-System-Pinball-Machine.pdf)
GOTG 1.09 has arrived!!!!
