Quoted from DCFAN:

But, won't that next game be released in a year? I mean, if Lyman works on one for a year, Dwight works on one for a year, and Tanio/Waison/Lonnie work on one for a year until each team gets shifted to the the next title they are assigned? It just seems like there is a disconnect in terms of programming time available vs number of games to be done. Does Stern need a better project manager?

I would guees that they dont all sit down and design everything at the same time. First the layout is designed and built, then the rules are added. They don't happen at the same time. Sure there maybe some overlap in there, but while the designer moves on to the next game, the person doing the rules continues on that game. They dont instantly start working on the next project.

Quoted from DCFAN:

The programmers still have at least a year per game based on the number of releases. Writing the rules is part of the programming process.

Right, my point is that while the designers are creating it, the programmers are not. They probably dont start until its nearly out of the design teams hands. But the design is ready to go and be built. So they release it that way, and just assume the programmers will fix everything after its released instead of sitting on it until everything is ready at once.

So they recycle good layouts and some rules. That's how they keep costs down. $5300 for a pro model is a pretty good steal. You can get what you want from a pinball, just not from Stern. Go buy a JJP, sounds like exactly what you want. Entry price is $8500 though.

I love how people are so overdramatic and love bashing. Wouldn't be pinside without it I guess. So what if the callouts arent the original actors. Im sure it would have been a lot more $$$ to have them. So they did the next best thing, had actors read the script. That makes it super easy to add in for people who care with pinball browser. TWD stock callouts sucked hard, but with the Cleland callouts, it made it pretty great. People ripping on it for not coming from the factory with the voice actors need to go circlejerk in a new thread. How petty. Its something that can be fixed easy.

Quoted from PanzerFreak:

NIB Stern games are now $5500-$8500 and at those prices customers should not have to add callouts. That's absolutely ridiculous.
For $5500-$8500 a pinball machine made in 2017 based on a film, set of films, or a TV series should have actor callouts. If not then the company can at least come up with a creative work around, like JJP did for Pirates.
Stern could have hired one of the actors to do custom callouts similar to how JJP hired Kevin McNally for Pirates callouts. Both POTC and GOTG are Disney owned themes. Did Stern not go down this path due to the extra cost? It wouldn't surprise me if that's the reason.

You sound ridiculous. The base version of the JJP is $8500. The base version of the Stern is $5500. Ill save the $3k and use pinball browser to add in the callouts instead of paying 3k more.

Yeah, its all disjoined and beta code. Thats the way Stern is these days. Bitch as much as you like, but its probably not going to change. TWD took years to get as good as it is now. Give it some time.

Quoted from smokedog:

I dunno. Walking Dead is a fantastic game.

And how many years did it take to get fantastic? When it was first released, everyone hated it. Im guessing this will be the same way. Given some time for the code to develop, it will be good.
