Quoted from flynnibus:

Not necessarily. No wear concerns for magnets that just look to move/influence the ball. It's the magnets that try to GRAB the ball that cause wear issues.
No one has mylar'd their twilight zone mini-playfields... for the same reason. It's not unexposed magnets that cause wear... it's magnets that need to grab and the edges of magnets that are wear concerns.
If they aren't looking to grab and hold the ball, rather just push/pull the ball in pulses - the magnets don't need to be as powerful or long pulses and don't drag the ball as much.

It looks like it's circling faster and tighter here, and the quality and durability of pfs Stern has recently been sourcing aren't really comparable to original TZs or recently remade mini pfs.

I'd say it's a concern.

Quoted from crlush:

Would be cool if they had a interactive boom box topper that would play custom mix songs when you start modes, buy the gotg cd and theres your custom mix vol. 1 and 2.

Like the arcade game 720

Quoted from Rarehero:

So many games are like that...it's done for shot geometry and design reasons. It's a stupid complaint.

I know WHY it's done. I don't need to like it.

#754 6 years ago
Quoted from Edster:

Is anyone else concerned about owning Spike games?

Not me. The ones i own have performed great. Now, long term? Who knows.

#755 6 years ago
Quoted from bigd1979:

Pro is also missing the scoop protector ....... i mean how much cld that cost . Thsy sld have ot on all models so playfield issues dont occur there.

Hopefully they add it in production, I saw the protectors as a big plus, a lot of value to me as a customer.

#756 6 years ago

Looks really cool.

The lack of mixtape songs (and a mixtape mode, where you collect those songs/tapes) is kind of a disappointment, but best to wait and see. I would've dumped on JJPOTC when I heard that it didn't have voice or video clips of the actors, but actually seeing what they came up with was really impressive.

Looking forward to the Deadflip stream.

Many stern games are laid out like that..

We were treated with metal ramps on those games

can't wait to see what the LCD looks like

#759 6 years ago

Didn't see this posted here yet, but rules look pretty straightforward. I'm kind of happy about that, to be honest.

Hmmm...isnt that 5?

#763 6 years ago
Quoted from flynnibus:

It's probably because of the double left inlane which all of those Borg examples you showed have. I with markp99 , the top-down pics trigger my OCD a bit, but I've never really noticed it in person on the 4 AS & dozen or so Met's I've played.

#764 6 years ago
Quoted from bigd1979:

Unfortunately i doubt it will be the coded masterpiece met is.

Valid point!

#765 6 years ago
Quoted from j_m_:

Stern doesn't care, they could just say "aftermarket modders will fix that" to any flaw like that and be done.

I noticed that too. Clearly this could have been designed a bit better.

Game looks cool. I love ramps that go past the backboard. I wish there was a diverter back there so it could surprise you on which ramp it would return to.

Quoted from mnpinball:

Mod Time!

#774 6 years ago

The more I look at it, the more I like it. I will always wish for something a little more daring, but if this is a refined Iron Man/Metallica hybrid, that could be great.

#775 6 years ago
Quoted from cosmokramer:

Hmmm...isnt that 5?

Yup. I stand corrected.

I don't think so.

Quoted from Pimp77:

The hands do nothing. They are static.

I can see some cool mods made for the hands. Example: LEDs under the hands or fingers that could light up when a ramp shot is made. Or modify/motorized one of the hands to flip the bird when a ramp shot is made. Lots of ideas!

This pin makes SW look like a Zizzle

#783 6 years ago
Quoted from markp99:

Too late. RH called it a stupid complaint. It’s fact now. Duh. Haha

#784 6 years ago
Quoted from EchoVictor:

I was thinking along the same lines, although, making them more along the idea of the vines/tendrils that Groot extends to grab things. Maybe wrapped around the existing ramps, like this;

Later,
EV

This is a great idea! Maybe make it with EL Wire?

I was just being sarcastic but it looks more feature packed than SW, I’ve yet to play SW.

The hands on the premium/LE are cool looking but seem a little obtrusive to me and they also block your view of the spinners.

It certainly is, I'll agree. And you're welcome in my house anytime you're in Jersey to play a tweaked out SW. It's not nearly the train wreck Pinside would have you believe. I love it.

GOTG looks like it'll be fun. I just have to wear sunglasses to look at it.

#791 6 years ago

I don't like the hands. I'd take the spinners, the extra lighting, and the other premium extras, but you could keep the hands off.

Agreed totally obscure ramp and orbit entries not a fan. They should have integrated branches around / into the ramps

In their defense they learned that one from Pinside.

Looks interesting, and colorful, but Those Groot hands are way too much for me.
