Quoted from Beez:So I was planning on going to TPF but unfortunately I will be unable to attend this year. With that said, my goal was to be able to “play before I buy” the JJP POTC as I have never purchased a game without playing it first. I really don’t have another way of playing this machine so my question is ... am I crazy to buy a game I’ve never played? I love JJP games and am hearing a lot of great things about the game ... but still, it’s a lot of money to drop on a game on a hope and a prayer ... or is it? Thoughts?
You're asking a forum of people who buy machines sight unseen if they would buy a game without playing it. That's like telling a crazy person that...they're crazy...but in their mind you're the one that's crazy
In general, you should always play a game before you buy it. PinballStar is a good guy, but please do not let FOMO drive your buying decisions. There will be one on the secondhand market at some point, and more often than not, it will be cheaper and likely HUO, so still just as pretty as taking it out of the box, and the original owner would have taken care of the box and plastic for you already Someone had mentioned that there was one within driving distance to play. If this is a game that you're about ready to plop $9K+ on, then yeah, it would probably be worth the gas money and time to play a dozen or two games on it before you buy. This is coming from a "sane" person that thinks things rationally, and maybe in this crowd, I'm the crazy person...so who knows?
